Next event we have will be our Christmas
Party on December 10th. Call or Email Larry
Ruff if you plan on attending the party.
Then we will have a bake sale on
December 17th and 18th at St. Theresa.
We will need lots of goodies for the bake
sale, so start baking gentlemen!
Lastly, I would like to wish everyone a
Happy Thanksgiving!
Vivat Jesus,
Jim Arns Sr. Grand Knight
Grand Knights Corner
Worthy Brother Knights,
I want to start off with a big thank you to
the Brother Knights that helped out with
all the events in October and November.
I also want to Thank Steve Lundell for all
his hard work putting the Knightly news
together every month.
Congrats to all the Turkey raffle winners at
the November Meeting. Don’t miss our
next meeting on December 12th, as we will
have a Ham raffle!
We will be distributing Wreaths this
weekend at St Theresa, and will need
some assistance delivering the St Thomas
Wreaths. Please send me an email if you
can spare a little time to help. Many
hands make less work, and it’s a good way
to work off all the food from Thanksgiving!

new members join the ranks of 1st Degree Knights with
our Holy Ghost Council #4977. Fellowship, food and
refreshment followed our successful ceremonial.
Also in October, St. Theresa’s Deacon Lou Riccio (not

council. Deacon Lou is also a 1st Degree Knight.
Congratulations and welcome to everyone!!!
Chaplain’s Corner Like everyone else, I am sure that
you are glad that the pre-election
rhetoric, debates, verbosity,
promises and eloquence or “lack
thereof” are over. And now we
need to help unite our country
with all who are in positions of governmental
authority so that they may strive to lead with
integrity and mercy in their decision-making and
serve the needs of all in these United States of
America. I would like to invite you to pray the
following prayer:
Prayer for our Nation
God our Father, Giver of life, we entrust the
United States of America to Your loving care.
You are the rock on which this nation was
founded. You alone are the true source of our
cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit
of happiness.
Reclaim this land for Your glory and dwell
among Your people.
Send Your Spirt to touch the hearts of our
nation’s leaders.
Open their minds to the great worth of human
life and the responsibilities that accompany
human freedom.
Remind Your people that true happiness is
rooted in seeking and doing Your will.
Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate,
Patroness of our land, grant us the courage to
reject the “culture of death.”
Lead us into a new millennium of life. We ask
this through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.

Congratulations to our new
3rd Degree Brothers!

2nd& 3rd degree advancement are paid by our Council.

Something to Think About this November Shared from the Book:
Reflections from Pope Francis
An invitation to Journaling, Prayer, and Action
16. Preach With Your Life
Let us all remember this: one cannot proclaim the
Gospel of Jesus without the tangible witness of
one’s life. Those who listen to us and observe us
must be able to see in our actions what they hear
from our lips, and so give glory to God! I am
thinking now of some advice that Saint Francis of
Assisi gave his brothers: preach the Gospel and, if
necessary, use words. Preaching with your life, with
your witness.

Ghost Council, and he particularly enjoyed being
part of the making of and participating in the

Council Mentor Program We have long recognized that our Council’s
future success as a service fraternity of Catholic
men relied, in part, on our shared responsibility to
recruit new members. With the efforts of many,
we are blessed to have had significant success
with attracting new Brothers in recent years.
At the same time, many Brothers have correctly
observed that success with recruitment satisfies only
part of the need for building our Council’s future.
In order for our Council to truly flourish going
forward, we need to retain and involve our newest
Brothers. It is well understood that new Brothers are
far more likely to become active and retain their
membership longer if they experience a satisfying
sense of inclusion and involvement early in their
membership. In an effort to promote this early
sense of inclusion and involvement, our Council
launched a formal “New Member Mentoring
Program” in August 2016. The objective of this
mentor program is straightforward - to give
every new Brother a stronger sense of welcome
and encourage their active engagement with
our Council.
We are blessed to have had the following 27
Brothers volunteer their time and experience for the
responsibilities of Council Mentor. These gentlemen
are 3rd and 4th degree; are members in good
standing; have demonstrated their commitment to
our Council; know and understand the workings of
our Council; and have expressed a willingness to be
a friend to our new Brothers. We would like to
thank the following Brothers for volunteering as a
Council Mentor!

Worthy Brothers… SAVE THE DATE! Please add our Council’s upcoming
“Open House” recruiting event to your calendar.
For our Open House gathering to succeed, we are asking that each Brother
commit to accompanying 1 or more eligible gentlemen to the event.
Our Open House is being tailored to introduce prospective gentlemen
(and their families) to our Family Fraternal Order; to highlight our Council’s
good work; and to answer the question…
“Why Should I Become a Knight?”
All are welcome. The Open House is free and gentlemen are under no
obligation to join. Following the formal 45 minute presentation, we
will enjoy fellowship with light food and refreshment. More information
will be shared as plans are firmed.
Brothers – it’s not too early to extend the invitation!
Please reach out and make the call.
Together – let’s make this inaugural Open House experience a success!
