A Stewardship Thought …

“And Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ…”

ACTS 2:38

The word “repent” means to turn from sin, to change our actions. When it comes to change, do we take re-sponsibility for change or do we think that others have to change instead? Change that is permanent comes from within, we must take control and be disciplined. Remember though that we are not alone, Jesus is there to help lighten the load.

This Weekend’s Scripture First Reading: Acts 2:14a, 36‑41 With great authority, Peter proclaims to the people that the Christ who was cruci-fied is indeed the Messiah. Urging them to reform and be baptized in the name of Christ, three thousand re-sponded to his words and were baptized.

Second Reading: 1 Peter 2:20b‑25 This is a strong exhortation from Peter to the people to endure suffering for Christ as he did for them. Healed by his wounds, they have “returned to the shepherd.”

Gospel: John 10:1‑10 Christ uses the beautiful image of the shepherd to de-scribe his care for his sheep. He also says he is the sheepgate and promises that “Whoever enters through me will be safe.” ©1999 Bon Venture Services, Inc.

News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Our Lord said; “As you have done for the least of my brethren you have done unto me.” This is the basis of all we do at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. We invite you to share in our mission. If you or someone you know is truly in need of assistance please contact us through the parish office. In the past we’ve helped people with rent utility groceries medicines special dietary requirements and many other needs. No work of charity is foreign to our society. Each new client case is thoroughly and confidentially evaluated by members of our Client Service Team. In the name of Christ we are here to help and to serve. Please put us to work.

Our next General Meeting will be Monday May 19. If you’ve ever considered helping the poor of our com-munity either directly or indirectly why not join us? Please note this meeting will be in the lower church.

Food Pantry: All non-perishable food and toiletry items are gratefully accepted. Donations can be left in the church lobbies after any mass. Some of our mem-bers also need donations of yarn & quilt batting to make lap robes & blankets for those who are ill or homebound.

Congratulations to our

First Holy Communicants!
