    ORDER OF THE LITURGY

    Opening Hymn: 383, Praise My Soul (Henry Francis)

    1. Praise, my soul, the King of heaven; to his feet thy tribute bring;

    ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,

    who like me his praise should sing?

    Alleluia, alleluia! Praise the everlasting King.

    2. Praise him for his grace and favour to our fathers in distress;

    praise him still the same as ever,

    slow to chide and swift to bless:

    Alleluia, alleluia! Glorious in his faithfulness.

    3. Father-like, he tends and spares us; well our feeble frame he knows;

    in his hands he gently bears us,

    rescues us from all our foes.

    Alleluia, alleluia! Widely as his mercy flows.

    4. Angels, help us to adore him; ye behold him face to face;

    sun and moon, bow down before him,

    dwellers all in time and space.

    Alleluia, alleluia! Praise with us the God of grace.

    THE GREETING

    Opening Sentence

    V. Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Alleluia! Alleluia!

    R. And blessed be His Kingdom, now and forever. Amen. Alleluia! Alleluia!

    OPENING PRAYER

    Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets

    are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that

    we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your Holy Name, through Christ our

    Lord. Amen.

    Gloria

    Glory to God in the highest,

    and peace to His people on earth.

    Lord God, heavenly King,

    almighty God and Father,

    we worship you, we give you thanks,

  • 3

    we praise you for your glory.

    Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the

    Father, Lord God, Lamb of God,

    you take away the sin of the world:

    have mercy on us;

    you are seated at the right hand of

    the Father: receive our prayer.

    For you alone are the Holy One;

    you alone are the Lord:

    you alone are the Most High,

    Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,

    in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

    Collect: Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: Graft in

    our hearts the love of your Name; increase in us true religion; nourish us with all goodness;

    and bring forth in us the fruit of good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and

    reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

    FIRST READING: Ezekiel 33:7-11 (Constance Simpson)

    PSALM 119: 33-40

    33 Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes, *

    and I shall keep it to the end.

    34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep your law; *

    I shall keep it with all my heart.

    35 Make me go in the path of your commandments, *

    for that is my desire.

    36 Incline my heart to your decrees *

    and not to unjust gain.

    37 Turn my eyes from watching what is worthless; *

    give me life in your ways.

    38 Fulfill your promise to your servant, *

    which you make to those who fear you.

    39 Turn away the reproach which I dread, *

    because your judgments are good.

    40 Behold, I long for your commandments; *

    in your righteousness preserve my life.

    .

    Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

    THE SERMON: Rev. Monique Campbell

    HYMN OF RESPONSE: CPWI 453, Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace (Sebastian

    Temple)

    1. Make me a channel of your peace.

    Where there is hatred let me bring your love;

    where there is injury, your pardon, Lord;

    and where there's doubt, true faith in you.

    2. Make me a channel of your peace.

    Where there's despair in life let me bring hope;

    where there is darkness, only light;

    and where there's sadness, ever joy.

    O Master grant that I may never seek

    so much to-be consoled as to console;

    to be understood as to understand;

    to be loved, as to love with all my soul

    3. Make me a channel of your peace.

    It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

    in giving of ourselves that we receive;

    and in dying that we're born to eternal life.

    THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE (Margaret Tait)

    Leader: Lord, we pray for all who are seeking to set standards, to raise morale, for all who

    are seeking holiness and dedication, for all who are living heroic lives, for all striving to live

    simply. May we be a listening church and a forgiving church. We pray for our church,

    especially our Bishops Howard and Leon, Jackie, Diocesan Secretary, Mike, Chairman of the

    Diocesan Financial Board, and Almerick, Senior Accountant. Give them wisdom and insight

    in leading the church through these difficult seasons. Lord, in your mercy.

    All: hear us and help us.

    Leader: We pray for who have lost sight of spiritual values, all who are caught up in sheer

    materialism, all who measure only by possessions or wealth. We pray for all who suffer from

    hunger, poverty or bad housing. We pray for all who are caught up in debauchery and

    licentiousness. Lord, in your mercy.

    All: hear us and help us.

    Leader: We pray that our homes may reflect your acceptance and love. Forgive our

    quarrelling and our jealousy. Teach us tolerance and compassion. We give thanks for all who

    have tolerated us, and given us their love. We pray that our community may be a caring and

    friendly community. Lord, in your mercy.

    All: hear us and help us.

    Leader: We pray for all involved in drunkenness or vice, all who are alcoholics or addicts.

    We pray for homes that suffer through the sin or weakness of a member of the family, for all

    who are subjected to violence or abuse. We remember all who are tempted to give up hope.

    We pray for our sick and shut-in members… Lord, in your mercy.

    All: hear us and help us.

  • 5

    Leader: We give thanks for all who have walked the way of your commandments, who have

    fulfilled your laws and done your will. Following their example, may we come to share with

    them in your everlasting glory. Lord, in your mercy.

    All: hear us and help us.

    Silence for individual prayer

    All: Lord, awaken us to your glory. Open our eyes to your presence. Open our ears to

    your call. Open our hearts to your love that may proclaim that you are among us;

    through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

    ACT OF PENITENCE

    PRESIDENT: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we

    confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all

    unrighteousness.

    A period of silence shall be kept.

    PRESIDENT: Let us therefore confess our sins.

    ALL: Most Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word,

    and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved

    you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves; we have not

    loved ourselves as we ought. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of

    your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us that we may delight in your

    will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

    THE ABSOLUTION

    PRESIDENT: Almighty God, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your

    sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in life eternal; through Jesus

    Christ our Lord. Amen.

    PRESIDENT: The Kingdom of God is justice, peace. and joy, inspired by the Holy Spirit.

    ALL: They who thus serve Christ are acceptable to God and approved by

    others.

    PRESIDENT: The peace of the Lord be always with you.

    ALL: And also with you.

    Offertory Hymn: CPWI 304, Brother Sister Let Me Serve You (Richard Gillard)

    1. Brother, sister, let me serve you,

    let me be as Christ to you;

    pray that I may have the grace to

    let you be my servant too.

    2. We are pilgrims on a journey

    and companions on the road;

    we are here to help each other

  • 6

    walk the mile and bear the load.

    3. I will hold the Christ-light for you

    in the night-time of your fear;

    I will hold my hand out to you,

    speak the peace you long to hear.

    4. I will weep when you are weeping;

    when you laugh I'll laugh with you;

    I will share your joy and sorrow

    till we've seen this journey through.

    5. When we sing to God in heaven

    we shall find such harmony,

    born of all we've known together

    of Christ's love and agony.

    6. Brother, sister, let me serve you,

    let me be as Christ to you;

    pray that I may have the grace to

    let you be my servant too.

    THE PRESENTATION OF THE OFFERINGS:

    Father, we offer you these gifts which you have given us; this bread, this wine, this

    money. With them we offer ourselves, our lives, and our work, to become through your

    Holy Spirit a reasonable, holy, and lively sacrifice. As this bread and wine become the

    Body and Blood of Christ, so may we and all your people become channels of your love;

    through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

    THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

    President: The Lord be with you.

    All: And also with you.

    President: Lift up your hearts.

    All: We lift them up to the Lord.

    President: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God

    All: It is right to give God thanks and praise.

    PRESIDENT: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give you

    thanks, Father almighty, everlasting God: … Therefore, we praise you, joining our voices

    with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn

    to proclaim the glory of your Name:

    ALL

    Holy, holy, holy Lord,

    God of power and might;

    heaven and earth are full of your glory,

    Hosanna in the highest!

    Blessed is He who comes

    in the name of the Lord,

    Hosanna in the Highest!

    Form E

    PRESIDENT

    Sovereign Lord and Father,

    To you be glory and praise for ever.

    In your boundless wisdom

    you brought creation into being;

    In your great love you fashioned

    us in your image;

    In your tender compassion

    you sent your Son. Jesus Christ, our Saviour,

    to share our human nature;

    in the power of the Holy Spirit,

    He overcame the power of sin and death

    and brought your people to new birth

    as first fruits of your new creation.

    On the night that He was betrayed

    He took bread,

    and when He had given thanks to you.

    He broke it and gave it to his disciples

    and said: “Take this, and eat it:

    This is my Body which is given For you.

    Do this for the remembrance of me.”

    And after supper

    He took the cup of wine:

    and when He had given thanks,

    He gave it to them and said:

    “Drink this, all of you:

    This is my Blood of the New Covenant,

    which is shed for you and for many

    for the forgiveness of sins.

    Whenever you drink it,

    do this for the remembrance of me.”

    PRESIDENT

    Therefore. Father, according to the command of your dearly beloved Son

    ALL

    We remember His death

    We proclaim His resurrection

    We await His coming in glory

  • 8

    PRESIDENT

    And we offer you. Father,

    our sacrifice of thanks and praise.

    Send your Holy Spirit on these gifts of

    bread and wine that they may become

    the Body and Blood of your Son,

    Jesus, our Lord and Redeemer.

    As we partake of this holy food of new

    and unending life, may your Holy Spirit

    establish us as a royal priesthood

    with the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. N-

    and all your sons and daughters who share

    in your eternal inheritance;

    Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    With Him and in Him and through Him,

    by the power of the Holy Spirit,

    we worship you, Father Almighty,

    with all who stand before you

    in earth and heaven,

    in songs of everlasting praise:

    ALL: Blessing and honour and glory and power

    be yours for ever and ever. Amen.

    THE LORD’S PRAYER

    President: As our Saviour has taught us so we pray…

    THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD:

    PRESIDENT: We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.

    ALL: Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one

    bread.

    THE INVITATION:

    PRESIDENT: The Gifts of God for the people of God

    ALL: Our souls will feast and be satisfied, and we will sing glad songs of praise to him.

    HYMNS DURING COMMUNION:

    CPWI 616, O Thou Who At the Eucharist Didst Pray (W. H. Turton)

    1. O THOU, Who at Thy Eucharist didst pray

    That all Thy Church might be for ever one,

    Grant us at every Eucharist to say

    With longing heart and soul, “Thy will be done.”

    Oh, may we all one Bread, one Body be,

    Through this blest Sacrament of Unity.

    2. For all Thy Church, O Lord, we intercede;

    Make Thou our sad divisions soon to cease;

    Draw us the nearer each to each, we plead,

    By drawing all to Thee, O Prince of peace;

    Thus may we all one Bread, one Body be,

    Through this blest Sacrament of Unity.

    3. We pray Thee too for wanderers from Thy Fold;

    O bring them back, Good Shepherd of the sheep,

    Back to the Faith which Saints believed of old,

    Back to the Church which still that Faith doth keep;

    Soon may we all one Bread, one Body be,

    Through this blest Sacrament of Unity.

    4. So, Lord, at length when Sacraments shall cease,

    May we be one with all thy Church above,

    One with Thy Saints in one unbroken peace,

    One with Thy Saints in one unbounded love:

    More blessèd still, in peace and love to be

    One with the Trinity in Unity.

    CPWI 597, I Come With Joy (Brian Wren )

    1. I come with joy, a child of God,

    forgiven, loved and free,

    the life of Jesus to recall,

    in love laid down for me.

    2. I come with Christians far and near

    to find, as all are fed,

    the new community of love

    in Christ's communion bread.

    3. As Christ breaks bread, and bids us share,

    each proud division ends.

  • 10

    The love that made us, makes us one,

    and strangers now are friends.

    4. The Spirit of the risen Christ,

    unseen, but ever near,

    is in such friendship better known,

    alive among us here.

    5. Together met, together bound

    by all that God has done,

    we'll go with joy, to give the world

    the love that makes us one.

    Blessed Be The Ties (John Faweet)

    1. Blest be the tie that binds

    our hearts in Christian love;

    the fellowship of kindred minds

    is like to that above.

    2. Before our Father's throne

    we pour our ardent prayers;

    our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,

    our comforts and our cares.

    3. We share our mutual woes,

    our mutual burdens bear,

    and often for each other flows

    the sympathizing tear.

    4. When we are called to part,

    it gives us inward pain;

    but we shall still be joined in heart,

    and hope to meet again.

    5. This glorious hope revives

    our courage by the way;

    while each in expectation lives

    and waits to see the day.

    6. From sorrow, toil, and pain,

    and sin, we shall be free;

    and perfect love and friendship reign

    through all eternity.

    POST COMMUNION PRAYER:

    Almighty Father,

    we thank you for feeding us

    with the Body and Blood

  • 11

    of your Son Jesus Christ.

    May we who share His Body

    live His risen life;

    we who drink His cup

    bring life to others;

    we upon whom your Spirit shines

    give light to the world.

    Help us to continue in faithful witness

    to your Word,

    so we and all your children shall be free,

    and the whole earth live to praise your Name,

    through Christ our Lord. Amen.

    Closing Hymn: We Are One In Spirit (Peter Scholtes)

    1. We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord

    We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord

    And we pray that all unity may one day be restored

    And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love

    They will know we are Christians by our love

    2. We will work with each other, we will work side by side

    We will work with each other, we will work side by side

    And we'll guard each one's dignity and save each one's pride

    And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love

    They will know we are Christians by our love

    3. We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand

    We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand

    And together we'll spread the news that God is in our land

    And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love

    They will know we are Christians by our love.
