He is risen! He is risen indeed! Welcome to Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church on this Easter morning! We all come to this Sunday on different paths. Some of our paths are more well worn than others. Some of us travel this path out of duty and compromise. Perhaps for some of us, we are just discovering or exploring our path of faith. Whatever path you have taken this day, please know that all parts of you are welcome here.

It is my prayer that you will hear the deep notes of God’s promise of new life for you and our world through our worship this day. I pray through our liturgy and our song that you will experience the grace and new life Christ offers us all, and that we will be nourished on our varied paths.

If you would like to go deeper in faith, there are myriad opportunities on the back page of your bulletin this morning. It would be our great privilege to walk this journey of life and faith with you.

With great hope,

Rev. Matthew Ruffner

W E L C O M E TO P H P CTrusting that all belong to God. Living like we belong to one another.

GatherinG around the Word “We all want new life. We want to know that the last word hasn’t been spoken, we want to know that the universe is on our side, we want to know on Friday that Sunday will eventually come. That is why the cross continues to endure. It’s a reminder, a sign, a glimpse, an icon that allows us to tap into our deepest longings to be part of a new creation. Because that’s how the universe works. That’s what Jesus does. Death and resurrection. Old life for new life; one passes away, the other comes. Friday, then Sunday.” – Rob Bell, Love Wins

We continue to make mistakes, to say the wrong things, to walk past people in need, to dwell in doubt and fear. Forgive us, God, and call us once more to new life. Help us to be people who believe, proclaim, and live the resurrection. Amen.

He lives as God with us, touching all of human life with the presence of God. He lives as one of us with God. Because he shares our humanity and has bound us to himself in love, we have an advocate in the innermost life of God.

Behold, our Savior is arisen! Behold, eternal life is given! Salvation now He gives! Crucified, now He lives! Behold, the King of Glory! Now sing your praise to God on high, with joyful hearts aloud we cry! Behold the King of Glory! But who is He the King of Glory? He who death overcame, the Lord is battle mighty. But who is He the King of Glory? Of hosts, He is the Lord; of angels and of powers: the King of Glory, the King of Kings. Behold, our Savior is arisen! Behold, eternal life is given! Salvation Christ now gives! Crucified, now He lives! Behold, the King of Glory! Now sing your praise to God on high, with joyful hearts aloud we cry! Behold, the King of Glory!

*Hymn 268 (verses 1-3) Crown Him with Many Crowns DIADEMATACrown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne;hark, how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own!Awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee, and hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity. Crown him the Lord of love; behold his hands and side, rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified:no angel in the sky can fully bear that sight, but downward bends his burning eye at mysteries so bright. Crown him the Lord of peace, whose power a scepter swaysfrom pole to pole, that wars may cease, absorbed in prayer and praise. His reign shall know no end; and round his pierced feetfair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet.

*Benediction

*Benediction response “Hallelujah” from Messiah George Frideric HandelThe Sanctuary Choir Hallelujah! For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Hallelujah! The kingdom of this world is become the Kingdom of our Lord, and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever; King of kings and Lord of lords! Hallelujah!
