June Membership MeetingSecretary’s Report

Our monthly membership meeting, June 23rd, 2015 was called to order by President Melissa Sprouse Browne after a fantastic dinner served by Scott & Tracy at McDaniels Porsche. They offered us pork tenderloin, potatoes, salad, corn, peach cobbler, tea and water. Thirty-seven members were in attendance, as well as staff of the dealership.

All attendees introduced themselves and said what kind of car they owned. We welcomed all new members that were in attendance.

The Treasurer’s report was read by Kathy Webb: we have $876.08 in the bank as of 6/23/15.

Membership numbers were reported by Dick Lane: 146 primary members as of right now. As a rule, our monthly membership meetings will be held at Grecian Gardens, located at 2312 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM.

Other business: It was reported Cars and Cof-fee was seeking another place to meet on the third Saturday of each month. Rock Webb talked about Euro Auto Festival in Greer planned for October 16th – 18th. Many expressed interest in attending.

Bruce Smith reported that Darlington Speedway was willing to let drivers have driving tours on the track. More would be reported after investigation was complete & any interest shown.

Mr. McDaniels updated us on construction of their new facility. Construction is starting in July 2015, and possibly finished about April 2016. Mr. Mc-Daniel spoke about his tour at the Porsche Experi-ence Center in Atlanta. In closing, he raffled off one Porsche Experience, for which Helen Lane was the lucky winner! The meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM.

Respectfully submitted by Helen Lane, Secretary

President’s Message

THREE RIVERS REGION PRESIDENT MELISSA SPROUSE BROWNE

THE BROWNE PORSCHES.. .

I hope everyone is having a great summer. Lots of our members have been traveling for vacation and I’ve enjoyed hearing about some of these fantastic trips! As we are moving into the latter part of the year, as a group, we will have the chance to travel to several out of town events.

Certainly the Euro Auto Festival in October is a member favorite, with a perfectly set weekend in Greenville to enjoy a good car show. The honored marque this year is BMW. Their website says, “The 2015 show is more exciting than ever! In order to accommodate a larger number of entries, we are moving our show from the BMW Zentrum to Embassy Suites & Verdae Greens. Vehicles will be displayed on the fairways of The Preserve at Verdae golf course. The show, amenities, and host hotel will be in one location, making it easier for our entrants and attendees to enjoy the full experience of the EURO Auto Festival. We will also be honoring the cars of France throughout the weekend.” Since we expect to have a good number of people attending this event, Rock Webb wants to host a mountain drive from the Embassy Suites in Greenville to leave on Sunday morning after the event. He’ll have more information on this drive at our July meeting, so be sure to attend if you can to see what’s going on there.

Another popular event is the Hilton Head Concours. Spread out over a couple of weekends at the end of October and the beginning of November, this event never disappoints. New this year is the Aero Expo, where they will be displaying a variety of aircraft, from vintage warbirds to modern aviation models. Let’s coordinate as a group on what we will do in Hilton Head this year. The Westin remains the host hotel, as in years past.

I’m personally looking forward to the first weekend in August. The Zone Three Presidents Meeting will be held at the new Porsche North America headquarters in Atlanta and we will be able to see the many features of this amazing new venue. I’m sure Vic Rola, our Zone Rep, will have plenty of news for me to bring back for us, so I’ll give you a report after the meeting.

Thanks and see you soon!

Melissa Sprouse BrownePresident
