Our weekly video helps us achieve that goal. At the same time, the weekly montage depicts the wonders of the Montessori philoso- phy and Cobb’s unique mission: Believe, Guide, Step Aside, Let Fly! We hope you will enjoy this window into the children’s world. This week we offer two collections! The first video highlights the remarkable renovations accomplished in one, short summer. The Cobb School community strives to provide the optimum environment for its children. Its commitment to growth, change, improve- ment and transformation is captured here. The second video provides a snapshot of the children’s first week back at school. Full of sweet reunions and fresh introductions, Cobb’s children, old and new, set- tled into their classes with ease. The Cobb School, Montessori is a very special place: it is a children’s house. Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year, and thank you for being part of this community. Please meet in your child’s class- room, and parents of more than one child in the same level are invited to divide their time as they see fit. I am still reeling from this evening’s festivities! Thank you for joining in the cele- bration! I hope you had as much fun as I did. The Dedication of New Classrooms has been on my mind all summer. Events such as these, with their great solemnity and significance, touch me deeply. As I watched walls come down and go up, as I watched holes drilled and filled, as I watched the design and redesign unfold, and, most important, as I watched my colleagues my friends disassemble and assemble, plan and perfect, I worried that I could not adequately pay tribute to their herculean efforts. Please join me in offering our deepest, collective gratitude to all who brought these monumental renovations to fruition. Thank you, thank you, with every ounce of strength I have left. It has been an incredible summer...another dream come true.

The Cobb School Welcomes...

Discipline Course begins Tuesday, Sept. 11 We are privileged to have AMI Trainer, Uma Ramani, re-turning this fall to teach “Parenting Your Montessori Child.” This course will provide a practical guide to disci-pline and is designed for parents of children 15 months to 12 years. We strongly recommend you register for this three session class. Flyers were distributed in the August mailing and are still available with Sallie Ann Jacobs.

Tuesdays, Sept. 11, 18 & 25

$125 per person; $160 per couple 6-7:30 in the Corbett Library

(The calendar sent home has an error with a time of 6:30-7:30. Please be aware of the correct starting time of 6pm.) Please call 860-658-1144 or drop in to see Sallie Ann Ja-cobs to register for the course. Please mail or deliver your check made payable to The Cobb School.

Parent Reminders

Parent Infant Community Begins Friday, Sept. 21 Do you have baby? Are you pregnant? Do you have a friend who has a newborn or is expecting? We invite new parents or parents-to-be to attend our Parent Infant class starting Friday, September 21 at 8:30am. Please register with Sallie Ann Jacobs. This course includes 10 sessions for $125 with its first two sessions FREE. Come find out more on Sept. 21 and be part of our brand new Parent Infant Community!

...new staff and new families! We are happy to have with us Lauren Redekas, assistant to Carol Ebersol, and Jennifer de-Simas, assistant to Lhamo Pemba. We are also delighted to welcome 36 new families to The Cobb School this year! Welcome friends, old and new!

Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Day is Friday, Oct. 5 10am –12pm. We will have a noon dismissal for ALL students. There will be NO Nest that day. We look forward to hosting our Grandparents & Special Friends! Please be sure Windy Jansen has your child’s guest’s mail-ing address, as we wouldn’t want to leave him or her off our invite list. More information regarding Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Day will be forthcoming.
