Managed Care Coverage for 4-H Membership Dues

Youth covered by Managed Care Plans, also known as Missouri Medicaid/MO HealthNet,

are eligible to have their membership in one afterschool program or club paid by their

insurance company. This includes membership fees for 4-H clubs! Call the Member Services

number for your insurer and request a voucher for each child.

16th Annual 4-H Day with the St. Louis Cardinals

Saturday, May 20

6:15 pm Missouri and Illinois 4-H members, parents, volunteers & alumni will gather at Busch Stadium for the 16th annual 4-H Day with the Cardinals.

The Cards will be playing the San Francisco Giants. Tickets are $25.00 each & includes a specially designed t-shirt. Those who purchase 4-H

Day with the Cardinals tickets will have the opportunity to participate in a parade around the Busch Stadium outfield. Pre-game ceremonies

include a recitation of the 4-H pledge & ceremonial first pitches by an Illinois & Missouri 4-H member. The first 30,000 fans age 16 & older

will receive a one-of-a-kind Cardinals pet bowl. Tickets must be ordered on the 4-H Day with the Cardinals order form, available from University of Missouri Extension offices, or on the

web at www.mo4h.missouri.edu. Orders must be postmarked by April 10. 4-H Clubs, counties, or groups of families who want to be seated

together must send their orders in the same envelope. Families can also participate in the 4-H Day with the Cardinals raffle to win prizes such as throwing out the first pitch, autographed baseballs,

and tickets to other Cardinal baseball games. Funds raised benefit 4-H.

Heartland 4-H Camp July 20-22 at Camp Eagle Sky near Piedmont. $100 per person -

Summers @ Mizzou offers seven different camps: Scrub-In to a Health Career, Build-a-Business, Dog

Days of Summer, Network Forensics for Hacker Trackers, Robo Palooza, Telling the Story of the Stars

and GeoTech: Drone Camp. These camps are offered as residential or day camps. Camps are

available for a wide range of ages beginning with 12 year olds; check the registration information

2017 4-H Agriculture Innovators Experience - Would you like to bring an engaging Ag Literacy Activity to your camp, after school program or community? The 2017 Ag

Innovator Experience is a perfect opportunity for teens to teach & engage younger youth around Science and Agriculture.

Missouri 4-H is seeking fifteen teens (4-H age 14-18) to serve as leaders for the 2017 4-H Agriculture Innovators Experience:

Healthy Soils C.S.I. Challenge.

To be nominated teens must:

· Have a positive attitude & be excited about teaching others

· Be of 4-H age 14-18

· Be able to attend a state training in Columbia, Missouri

Teens will receive:

· A toolkit to conduct the Challenge Activity including materials

· A name tag & polo identifying them as a trainer

· The opportunity to participate in a national experience

Missouri 4-H Sportfishing State Event Saturday, June 3

Mid-Missouri. $20 per member Annual event always the 1st Saturday after Memorial Day. Open to all 4-H

members enrolled in the sportfishing project (if a member is not enrolled in the

project they will not see the event in 4HOnline when it opens). Event registration

for youth will take place in 4HOnline April 1 through May 15. This event is

generously supported by Missouri Department of Conservation and Bass Pro

Shops. There is an additional cost for family members who want lunch

provided rather than bringing it. More info about the 4-H sportfishing

4-H MOVE

Across Missouri

It’s back – and I challenge every member/family

to sign up & get moving!! MOVE promotes physical

activity and encourages youths and adults to

engage in a broad range of activities such as

walking, biking, running, swimming, dance,

taekwondo, gardening and more. Enroll in the

Move Across Missouri (MOVE) project (HF775) in 4-H

Online. Using a paper tracking system found on

the 4-H website, “log” the number of minutes

accumulated throughout the year & during the

competitive component of the MOVE. Record

keeping through the paper tracking system is

important because the competition period is from

February 1 to April 30. Youth & families submit their

total number of minutes logged & activities

throughout the 12-week competitive period

between May 1 - 15 in 4-H Online. 4-Hers & adults

can register for the competitive event as

individuals and/or as part of a team. For more info

The new Missouri 4-H Service-Learning Website offers many resources for clubs, junior councils, and other 4-H groups to lead and involve others in community service-learning this next year! A new series of Adult Leader Guide-sheets on service-learning include: What Is It?, Five Steps, Core Elements, Teambuilding, Action Planning, Goal Setting, Building Partnerships, Local Governing Officials, Reflection, and Continuing Support. Leaders will also find success stories and resources for service project funding, recognition, and evaluation on the site. Some older project resources for 4-H groups (with a new look) include: Service-Learning Ideas from A to Z, Camo Coolers, Carry On Suitcases, Feeding Communities (Hunger & Food Security), Letter Writing Kits, Make-a-Wish Scrapbooks, and Weighted Blankets. Robotics Dates State 4-H Robotics Contest

August 13

Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall – Missouri State Fair

The State 4-H Robotics Contest will be on Sunday, August 13, at the Show Me Robots exhibition at the Missouri State Fair. There will be three contests:

Robofest Challenge, SuGO Bots, and the Motorized Challenge. Games will be announced by April 15. This is an open competition for Missouri 4-H

Robotics members; it is not necessary to qualify at the county or regional level. The Missouri State Fair provides ribbons for participants and plaques for

event winners.

State 4-H Robotics Volunteer Training

January 12-13, 2018 This 4-H Robotics training will be held in conjunction with the Computers on the Farm Conference at Tan Tar A in Osage Beach, Missouri. The content of

the robotics training will be determined. There will be a hands-on 4-H Technology Expo where youth and volunteers can get their hands on robot kits,

electronics, programs, and other equipment used in robotics education.

State 4-H Robotics Contest

will be announced at a later date.

STEM Learning at Maker Faires

If your members are looking for a great field trip, consider the Maker Faires (makerfaire.com ) in the coming months. 4-H has been involved as “makers”

since its beginning and the maker movement is a great opportunity for 4-H members to get more widely involved in the STEM learning and creativity

promoted by the Maker Faires. Upcoming dates for Maker Faires in Missouri are:

Aerospace Camp July 25-27 Missouri 4-H collaborates with Missouri S&T to conduct Aerospace Camp for youth ages 10-13. The camp is full of hands on fun learning about what it

takes to be an astronaut or in the aeronautics profession. Cost is $395 - includes lodging, meals & program materials. There is not a registration deadline,
