CHRISYOUNG
The Young Family wishes to extend their appreciation for the continued encouragement, comfort and prayers that have sustained Chris for these past fifteen years. Thank you for teaching us all about compassion and standing faithfully beside Chris. Thank for finding Chris worthy of your time and prayer. We couldn’t make it this far without you! As you will note, from the “medical update” on the reverse side, Chris will
be undergoing major surgery again in May, and your prayers are needed now more than ever. If you would like to make a monetary contribution to help with Chris’ pre-scription bills, but are unable to make it to this event, please send a check made out to “Maple Leaf Pharmacy for Chris Young” to St. Catherine School, 8524 8th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98115.
THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS & SUPPORT!
In May, Chris will have a surgery to repair the middle of his face. Due to the high doses of radiation it is sinking and compromising his air-way. The docs will use pins, screws, plates, as well as bone from his hip to rectify the situation. Then we will have to pray it heals, and that his bone structure stays where the docs put it. When Chris met the surgeon for his pre op talk, the surgeon said to Chris, “Chris, you are our major miracle.” It put a big grin on Chris’ face. After the usual “what could go wrong” part of the talk, Chris told him in his matter-of-fact voice, “Don’t worry, I’m not the type of guy to hold it against you.” It was too funny. If you seem something blazing past you in the neighborhood, chances are it will be Chris in his new sport (wheel) chair. Chris picked out a rugged looking green chair that will make good use of his arm strength. He managed to tear up the halls of the hospital and learn new tricks on a similar model. Chris was relieved to find out his wish for an attached cup holder could be granted. Ever practical, Chris asked, “Where is a guy supposed to put his Slurpee?”
Medical Update
THE ONES THAT GOT AWAY
Chris recently returned from a fabulous trip to sunny Sand Diego with his extended family. Cousin Ricky graduated from Marine Corp boot camp and Chris wasn’t going to miss out on the fun. He greatly en-joyed dragging his unwilling sister Sarah down the hotel’s water slide. Chris’ famously sly smirk could be observed under the ever-present baseball cap as he “encouraged” his sisters, Erica, to visit every gem, trinket and candy shop he could find. When the day grew long, he knew he could count on his cousins for a laugh and a piggy back ride. What a trooper!
Fun with the Family
In August, Chris and his mom
and dad were able to do a
family fishing trip to Hi Hium,
Canada. The scenery was
breathtaking and the fishing
was both peaceful and excit-
ing. Chris was reeling in a big
one when an eagle swooped
down from the trees and de-
cided that the fish was going
to be his dinner. Chris lost
another big one to a smart
and hungry loon. That schem-
ing loon hung around the boat
just waiting for another fish. It
was nature at its best!
