POTENTATE’SMESSAGE

Nobles and Ladies; We have transitioned into fall and back into

Ben Hur Stated meetings. We had a great turnout for the September meeting and excellentfood prepared by our own EntertainmentCommittee. Thank you EntertainmentCommittee.

In the Blue Room the ladies were able to seeLady Vinna Rye’s creative talents on flowerdecorations. They have a program each month

so bring your lady out. Also I would like to remind you that you arealways welcome to attend the dinner portion only. Thank you all forcoming out to our stated meeting and fantastic dining experience.

The annual Fish Fry was a fishing success this year. Not only was thefish outstanding, but we fished out a new Shriner petition and Texanalodge had a visitor request a masonic lodge petition. It was wellattended with over 160 men and woman there. We even had a fewcouples who brought their young children. It was great to seeeveryone out and enjoy the outstanding fish and the comradery theyshared. I suspect this will be an even bigger event next year. Thankyou Directors Staff for another outstanding fish fry and I trulyappreciate all you do supporting the nobility of Ben Hur. Great job.

The Fall Ceremonial has been canceled due to not having enoughcandidates. It is tragic we had to do this, but hope fully it can happenin the spring of 2017. Keep supporting and trying to bring in newmembers so we can put on this wonderful event of bringing in newShriners. Support your Masonic Lodge and encourage them to join us.

I know I am beating the drums again, but our Chief Rabban BradCole needs your help on the fundraising for 2017 and our AssistantRabban Greg Rye is already into the fundraising process for his yearsstarting in 2018. Operating expenses do not go down as ourmembership declines so it is very important to support theseoutstanding fundraising programs these two fine men have put on fortheir fiscal years.

May God bless you, God bless the U.S.A., God bless our Shrinehospitals and patients. May God bless our police personnel who trytheir best to keep our streets safe and crime free, and may God blessour military personnel who keep our borders safe and free of violenceand terrorism to ensure that we continue to have the freedom thatour Founding Fathers intended us to have.

Fraternally yours,

Earl RobertsonPotentate 2016

Nobles and Ladies of BenHur,

It was great to get back ontrack with stated meetingsagain. We had a great Fish Fryon September 14th. Saw somepeople that we haven’t seen ina while. We had 160 pluspeople there which includedNobles, Ladies and Kids. Itwas a fantastic Familygathering where we enjoyedeach other’s company.

Just a friendly reminder forall the IHOP Store Captains, that there will be ameeting of the minds for next year’s IHOP PancakeFundraiser in October on the 29th, which is aSaturday. We can have the meeting at 1:00 p.m. Myself and our Oriental Guide, Romeo Denghel, willbe there to talk about next year. Please try to makeit if you can.

Membership wise, we brought in two newmembers last stated meeting. They are Sid Millerand Ramon Reyes. Membership is a necessaryprocess to help keep our Fraternity alive. Participation is too! So if you see a brother out therethat you know has not been active for a while, askhim why he hasn’t participated in Shrine activities. Let them know that we miss their presence atmeetings and Unit functions. Another thing is that weneed to find a Membership Chairman for the nextcouple of years to continue what we have started ingrowing our Temple and promoting the greatestphilanthropy known to man; SHRINERS HOSPITALSFOR CHILDREN. I will mentor the Noble or Noblesto make sure they understand the importance ofrecruiting and retention of members.

I hope to see y’all around the Shrine Center andat functions. May GOD bless each and every one ofyou and give you peace!

Fraternally,

Jeff ClarkHigh Priest & Prophet

Shrine First Lady’s ReportFall is here and so are Shrine stated meetings!

During the first Shrine meeting, the ladies were ableto see the creative talents of Lady Vinna Rye! Herflower arrangements were perfect for manyoccasions. Imperial Lady Alice Smith sharedinformation from the Imperial First Lady’s program forthe year. While the scarf is a beautiful blend of colorsand the charm a darling hot air balloon, the best partis that, they both support the project for the year.

Did you know that Shriner’s Hospitals have campsfor their patients? Texas has two of these camps. Thecamps are free to any patient and allow the patient to dotypical camp activities like other children. Patients cando ropes courses, kayak, ride horses, and even snowski. These camps are the focus for the Imperial FirstLady’s project. If you want to support them, pleaseleave a message with Lisa at the temple. We can callyou when we have the items.

In addition, during the first meeting, we were able tocreate 50 more activity bags thanks to the generosity ofNile Ladies, and the LOS Jokheras. Thank you all forsupporting the patients at the clinics here in Texas. Ournext opportunity to meet will be at the October statedmeeting. Bring a dozen of your favorite cookies and therecipe. We are helping Lady Vinna create a cookbookthat will be available in January 2017. We will also playbunco so come have some fun. The November statedmeeting will have us working with Lady Holly to makepersonally crafted cards for the holiday. The Novembermeeting will be our last time to gather items for busybags for the hospitals. I know the fall is busy but wehope to see you at the monthly Shrine meetings.

Sincerely,

Lisa Robertson
