POTENTATE’S MESSAGE - [email protected]

Nobles and Ladies of Ben Hur,

Whew it has been a hot one so far this year. Temperatures have

been in the 90’s and 100’s. We just got thru a successful TSA

Ceremonial in Wichita Falls and finalized it with a Pool Party on that

Saturday night. Let’s give your Ben Hur Nobles a round of applause

who competed at TSA.

Ben Hur Provost Guard “D” Team placed 3rd (Forrest Cruse, Ray

Merrill, Craig Reiswig and Ill. Sir Jeff Clark); Ben Hur Provost Guard

“A” Team placed 2nd (Sam Stimson, Lee Molstad, Bobby Tiner and Ill. Sir Boyce

Freitag); In the Motor Patrol Competition our Trailblazers finished a contested 2nd

Place. Please congratulate our Drift Tike Riders, Ill. Sir Gene Sanders, Mike Sanders,

Romeo Denghel, Dennis Motley and Jim McConnell for their efforts and grit. I also

would like to Thank Ill. Sir Fred Park for helping Judge the Competition. Finally our

Brew Unit, The Capital City Carboys, placed 3rd in Pre-prohibition Lager, 1st in Cream

Soda and 1st in People’s Choice. All in all, it was a successful TSA. I personally want to

thank all who came and participated in the competitions and those who came up for

support.

Events coming up. We have our Imperial Session from June 29th thru July 4th in

Nashville, Tennessee. Also coming up we have the Lampasas Parade on July 13th,

Bastrop Parade on August 3rd and our Family Fun Night on August 10th with a Casino

Party and games for the Kiddos. Come on out and enjoy the fun. Remember, being a

Shriner is not just Hospitals, it is also fun and Fellowship.

See you in the Funny Paper!

Jeff

Chief Rabban - [email protected]

Ladies and Nobles,

Another Texas Shrine Association conference is behind us. This

year’s conference was held in Wichita Falls, and it was my first

time being there. As in the previous years, I competed with the

Trailblazers. Last year we won first place, and this year we missed

first place by only 0.2 points out of 120 points possible. Our No-

bles won several other trophies for Provost Guard and Capital City

Carboys. We also competed with the Clowns and Directors Staff.

The Texas Shrine Motor Patrol Association decided to move the start of the competition

from 7 AM to 8 AM. Not being a morning person, this makes me very happy!

Even though I didn’t win with the Trailblazers, I won at Goofy Golf. My usual partner

for this game is Lady Sandra Pickering. We have played many times during the Travel

Club outings, and we have never won a game. All of that changed Saturday night at

the pool party. That score sheet is now proudly displayed on my refrigerator door at

home.

Sincerely,

Romeo Denghel

Chief Rabban
