QUARTERLY DRAWS & FUN September was a month of winners, fun, and sur-

prises. Four Team 9 members had their names

drawn to each win a smart tv, sound bar and blue ray dvd player. Incredible opportunities for Hi-Way

9’s employees, along with fun celebrations of

“Jersey Day” and great food, made this day but one more reason Hi-Way 9 truly is “The Carriers That

Care”.

December’s prize of prepaid credit cards is just

around the corner. Which Team 9 members will be

Team 9 Annual Golf Tournament & Community

The Carriers That Care!

Crystal and Dean Morrill of Drayton Valley not only participated in Thunder in the Valley Drag Races but volunteer along with their kids, Austin and Brett. Volunteering for 9 years for this commu-nity event is a great time for all. Thanks Morrill family! Looks fabulous!

Thanks to Hi-Way 9 and your help the 3rd An-nual CLC Mud Run was a great success! The event hosted 1831 participants, 140 volun-teers, and approximately 1250 spectators! The event had a 5km adult run, as well as a Filthy Frogs kids mud run with 550 kids! There were also vendors, live band, beer gardens, kids zone and barbecue on site for all spectators and participants! Grown ups and kids from all over western Canada got to release their inner child and have some fun in the mud! The funds from the event support several community organizations and charities such as, the Com-munity Learning Campus, Wild Rose Humane Society, Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society, Olds Search and Rescue and many more! We greatly appreciate your support and generosity in 2014, and hope to have you part of our event again in 2015!

(over 1400 burgers and 2000 hot dogs served!)

Todd Allen, Carly Dow and Nick Patter-son (left to right) volunteered at Oko-tok’s Harvest fest. BBQing up a storm, these Hi-Way 9 Employees represented well their Team and their community with smiles and skill at the grill.

Hi-Way 9’s 20th Annual Team Golf Tourna-ment hosted over 100 golfers who enjoyed a fabulous day at Whispering Pines, Pine Lake. The weather co-operated, along with amazing food, fun prizes, and great company-this event was one to remember.

Thanks to all those who attended and to the Team that organized the occasion. It was well worth the drive, time, and energy spent.

See you next year on the greens!

Kids Contest

The Carriers That Care!

Yearly, Hi-Way 9 Group of Companies sends Christmas cards (yes-the actual paper, envelope and stamp kind) to hundreds of customers and vendors. This seasonal ritual includes a contest of Team 9 employee’s children. This year’s winner of a new IPAD Mini is the fabulous snowman work of art (at left) by Taytum Thomas (son of Jen Thomas-Team 9 administration). All of the entrees will receive a gift certificate for the care and time taken in each creation. What a great start to the Season!

Speaking of paystubs….

If you are unable to view your emailed

pay stub on your phone and don’t have the

app to view TIFF files, you can log on to

your email provider through the internet and you can view it there.

*Never jump out of a tractor cab, off a flatbed trailer, or from the back of a van-climb down, facing the vehicle *When climbing from a vehicle, use the 3-point rule-keep 3 points of contact with the vehicle. When exiting a pickup truck, hold onto the door or steering wheel for balance *Make sure you can see where you are walking, espe-cially when carrying large items *Check your footing for hazards outside, such as pot-holes, curbs, gratings and oily, wet, or slippery patches, when getting out of your vehicle or delivering freight *Take extra care when going from wet conditions out-side to dry, smooth floors inside *Wear well-fitting, non-slip footwear

Now that many are getting their pay stubs

by email, payroll is not getting notified of

all address changes for Team 9 moves. It

is mandatory you inform payroll of your

current mailing address.

EMPLOYEE RECOMMENDATION If any Team 9 member recommends a new employee they

will receive $200 upon completion of the new employee

training-and additional $300 after the first 3 months of

employment for the new employee.

SEVEN Team 9 members received a total of $1900 in the past 3 months for recommending a new Team 9 member. AWESOME!

The Carriers That Care! The Carriers That Care!

Focus on the Positives! Some Quality Achievements Received

“Going the Extra Mile”

Jamie Grayston-Red Deer-I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate the extra steps you go through every night. It is obvious how much you care by the little things you catch or the modifications you make to ensure things go smoother. You are very good at your job and I’m not sure how often you get told that. Jodi Lastiwka-Streamline-A customer requested beyond interline POD’s and I was able to find several of them fast because they were already scanned into the system! Your system of tracking the beyond bills and pulling the POD’s off the websites before they are requested makes us look professional and cuts down on the time getting the information to the customer. Thanks again Jodi! Keep up with your system and we will continue to shine! You take pride in your work and it shows. Dan Peever-Calgary-Stepping up and working his butt off to help stay caught up on the dock by stripping and loading in really good fashion. Keep up the good work and helping the team stay caught up. Nicholas Werner-Camrose-Nick, I want to commend you for all the effort you put into turning in completed paperwork. You always have your BOL’s weighed and cubed and ready for me each day. It’s nice not to have to back track to get this information. I am sure you are contributing to any weigh it dollars we achieve. Keep up the great work. You are a great team player! Glenn Lavallee-Drumheller-You are always willing to help out. It doesn’t matter if it’s a fellow team member or a customer, you’re al-ways there to offer a hand. Thanks for being a great team player and caring about us and our customers. Thanks Glenn for everything you do and we appreciate the great job you do everyday, please keep up the great work.

My name is Don McKinley and I am the Warehouse Supervi-

sor at Westward Parts Services Ltd – Red Deer and I would

like to let you know about the amazing job that Daphne Fer-

guson has been doing in your rates department. We request

freight quotes multiple times a day and we are not always the easiest customer to deal with. (By this I mean that product we

ship can be difficult to handle and there are times when I

have a difficult timeline) but Daphne handles these requests

with the deportment of a true professional, I cannot recall

ever hearing “no” uttered to me (through email of course).

And even when I present her with a difficult timeline or diffi-

cult freight item, she replies quickly and fairly. Which coinci-

dentally is WPSL’s big push this year for our customers…

“Fast, Friendly and Fair”. It is nice to see that you have

people in your company that provide the very same values

that we try to provide to our customers.

I would also like to say that as a member of a com-pany that, like your company, provides service to a very

large customer base; I have no illusions that we are your

only customer. Daphne provides us with such great service,

she makes us feel like your top customer. For that, we are

truly grateful, and want to take the time to let you know

about the exceptional service that she provides. I am a firm

believer in the fact that if I am going to make a complaint

when something is handled wrong, I better give kudos when

they have been earned. And Daphne Ferguson has definitely

earned my appreciation and respect.

Regards,

Don McKinley
