Our officers competed in the Ritual

Contest at the end of April, in Placer-

ville. The team came out 5th with

Chaplain Don Hall receiving 2nd place

honors. Thank you to Rod Battaglia

for helping get us that far. Rod had

very little time to try and get the team

ready. We only had about four weeks

to prepare.

The members of the Lodge have approved a fund to be used for

a new roof only. With this fund established, we will be able to

see it grow. We will let everyone know about how much is it

going to cost. Anyone wishing to donate to this fund should let

the secretary know. Getting a new roof on our building is a pri-

ority for this year.

As most of you know, John Suhr retired on May 2nd. I would

personally like to thank him for all of his service to our Lodge.

We will still see him around the Lodge and we will have him

cook a couple of dinners for us.

We are still looking for a Treasurer, Leading Knight and Es-

quire. If anyone is interested, please contact me or the office.

Again, thanks to all

From the Secretary's Desk ….

Have you paid your dues yet?

I would like to thank the continuing effort by the Bingo volunteers for the outstanding work they’re doing on Monday Night Bingo. This is a reminder that all Elks are invited to attend the bi-monthly meeting that are

held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, at 8:00, except in July and August, when only one meeting

is held, on the 2nd Wednesday.

The Lodge Chairmen listed below are dedicated Elks who give freely of their time and energy. If you are like

minded and have some spare time that you can donate to the Lodge, contact any of these Lodge Chairmen and they will gladly add your name to their individual committees. Participating in Elkdom is fun and rewarding.

4th Annual Murder/Mystery Dinner Show

CASTING CALL

We are looking for some outgoing people to par-

ticipate in the Annual Murder/Mystery Dinner

Show on Saturday, October 11.

Try-outs will be held on Thursday, June 12 and

Friday, June 13 in the East Bar, Woodland Elks

Lodge, 500 Bush Street, Woodland, at 6:30 pm.

Everyone and anyone is invited to try-out, includ-

ing teenagers 16 and older, Elk members and non-

members, and family members from Woodland

and other Lodges.

We always have lots of fun. If you have ques-

tions, please contact Pam at 666-3901 or Joyce

at 662-5066.

WITHOUT YOU……

WE WOULDN’T HAVE THIS!

Elks National Veterans Memorial

A monument in the truest sense, the

Elks National Veterans Memorial was

built in 1926 to honor Americans

whose profound sacrifices for the na-

tion can never be recognized by mere

words. With its massive dome, heroic

sculptures and intricately detailed

friezes, the Memorial is a distinc-

tively American interpretation of

classical greatness.

Please respect McNary’s parking lot . They have been very gener-ous by allowing the Elks to park in their lot. No all day parking is allowed. Please don’t leave your vehicles in the parking lot over-night. When the funeral sign is out, do not use their parking lot.

2008 Elks Family Campout

Howdy campers! Are y’all ready for another Elks Campout?

Mark your calendars for September 26 and 27. This year we

will be returning to Casini Ranch Family Campground. For

those who haven’t been there, Casini Ranch is located on the

Russian River and Duncan Mills, just a few mines inland from

the coast. We are unable to make a large group reservation

without a large deposit which our Lodge cannot afford.

Therefore, anyone who wishes to participate in the campout

this year must call Casini Ranch as soon as possible to reserve

your space. We still want to be in rows A, B and C. As of this

writing there is still lots of room. So, if you’d like to be next to

your campin’ buddies, make that call ASAP. The cost is $31

per night. Hook-ups include electricity, water and cable tv. A

one night deposit ($31) is required to reserve your space. To

make your reservation, call Casini Ranch at 1-800-451-8400.

Make your reservation now. Don’t be left out! Look for more

details in next month’s Bugle. Questions?

Call Carl or Danielle Roksvold @ 666-4636.
