Showdown is a popular game played

at the Poultry Party; Sons of the

American Legion sell gun chances; a

large crowd plays Bingo (bottom

photos). Information and photos submitted by Nancy Schlichte.

Santa Claus is coming to Brunsville Santa will be at the pancake breakfast

Sunday, December 9 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Kids will be able to decorate an ornament.

Raffles will be held at different times—cost is $1 per entry.

See you later, not goodbye

We want to thank all of our customers,

friends and employees for making the

last eight-plus years possible for us.

We are leaving you in good hands.

Blaine Foreman will be a great addition

to Brunsville and the community. We

are planning on coming up to visit

everyone often, but this time on the

other side of the bar. We will be up for

some Legion breakfasts and plan to

help with the sixth annual Brunsville Bash

on July 13, 2019.—Dave and Andrea

Andrea and Dave Raasch.

Blaine Foreman.

New Corner Café owner arrives

The Corner Café has a new owner and he’s anxious to get

rolling.

Blaine Foreman of Le Mars takes ownership of the Corner

December 3. You may know him from when he worked in

sales and service at Yamaha Golf Equipment, which

closed after being sold to a company out of Dubuque.

“Dave and Andrea wanted to sell and I didn’t have

anything else going on so I thought, let’s try it,” says

Foreman.

Foreman plans to offer the same menu but will open for lunch Monday through

Friday offering lunch specials and hamburgers. He would like to install a pizza

oven so customers can enjoy fresh pizzas. He will change the seating, fix up the

exterior and take out the rocks out back and add cement. Foreman’s

daughter Abbey will work at the restaurant.

“She will bartend, wait tables, whatever needs to be done,” he says.

So as not to stray too far from what he knows best, Foreman will sell and service

golf carts in the building behind the restaurant.

He would like to add a mural and aerial photos of local farms to the north and

east walls. Anyone who has a farm photo to display may drop it off to Foreman

at the Corner or Gisela Dittman next door.

Dave and Andrea’s last-hurrah party will be held Saturday, December 1. The

Corner will be closed December 3 until Monday, December 10 for renovations.

When the Corner reopens on December 11, it will have new flooring.

A devout Brunsville fan, Foreman spends a lot of time at the Corner and

attended dances at the Legion.

“I’ve always liked Brunsville,” he says. “It’s a tight-knit community with all good

people.”

Fun facts about The Brunsville Blitz

• The first edition was published November 1, 2010.

• The Blitz wasn’t Brunsville’s first newspaper—there were

several other papers The Blitz had to live up to. However,

The Blitz is Brunsville’s longest-running newspaper.

• Each Blitz requires 12-20 hours of work (gathering facts

and photos, maintaining correspondence, researching,

writing, fitting everything onto each page, proofing,

editing, printing, preparing for mailing and mailing,

formatting for email and emailing to subscribers).

• Everyone is welcome to submit info to be published.

• Blitz subscriptions make great Christmas gifts.
