Bob Carnes (82), past champion Joel Tainter (82) and Keaton Rowe (83) were the other placewinners in the second flight. First place in the third flight went to Steven Husk with 88. Nate Campbell (88), Russ Plueger (89) and Ron DeKok (89) also cashed in that flight. Shane Muth grabbed first place in the fourth flight with 95. He was joined as placewinners by Sergio Ceriani (95), Dean Borchers (97) and Todd Oetken (97). The two played extra holes after a scorecard playoff system produced a tie. Bickford came out on top with a large gallery watching the playoff. Also, Ian Grossman recorded two birdies in a row, including No. 7, which is the No. 1 handicap hole at Prairie Rose. Drake Brownmiller made a birdie on No. 2 and Aiden Truesdale birdied No. 6. Jacoby VanBoven, who is just 5 years old, made a birdie on the sixth hole. Junior Golf of Northwest Iowa holds regular camps every Thursday at Willow Creek in Le Mars. The next stop on the tournament trail will be Willow Creek on July 28. Entries are being accepted for the final tourney of the season at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City on Thursday, August 6. Dreckman posts victory in Brunsville Open

BRUNSVILLE, Iowa -- Nick Dreckman made the long trek from Mankato, Minnesota to compete in the Brunsville Open Sunday at Prairie Rose Golf Course. And, Dreckman emerged the winner, shooting a 3-under-par 69 for a four-shot victory. Dreckman, a longtime Le Mars resident who recently moved to Mankato, has won this tournament several times. Doug Loutsch and Dan Gray each shot 73 to claim the second two spots in the first flight. Keegan Bak was fourth with 75. Jim LeMoine of Sioux City was the second flight winner with 81. Gerry Sue and Eddie Krienert celebrated

their 45th anniversary with friends and

family at the Corner Café. They thank

their kids—Matt, Andy and Jessica—for

putting on the party, the Corner for

helping, and all who celebrated with

them.

Tara Lehner and Tyler Rosengren were united in

marriage on June 20. The ceremony and

reception were held at the Plymouth County

Fairgrounds.

Tara is the daughter of Thomas and De Ann

Lehner. Tyler is the son of Nate and Susie

Rosengren.

They are making their home in Mason City, Iowa

where Tara is a senior designer for US Powertrain

and Tyler is a year one resident at Mercy One

Hospital in Mason City.

Celebrating the life of Richard Lee Taylor Jr.

A celebration of life will be held for Rich Taylor on

Saturday, August 29 from 3-? at the Corner Café.

Rich passed away with his wife by his side on

Monday, March 30 in Texas. He was born on August

26, 1944 and formerly lived in Brunsville. Photo

An Award Presentation was held at the Brunsville Legion

Post 724 on June 29. Certificates were presented to the 50-

year members of the American Legion. Those members

included Rodney Tammen (Le Mars), Bill Osterbuhr, (Le

Mars), Kenneth Hillrichs (Akron), Robert Plueger (Le Mars)

and Marlyn Renken (Le Mars).

Scholarships were also awarded by the Heeren, McHale

Wilkens Post 724 and the Sons of the American Legion Post

724. To be eligible for the Brunsville Legion scholarship the

recipient must be a 2020 high school graduate and the

child or grandchild of an active, paid member of Post 724;

have a GPA of 2.50 or higher, and is in good standing in the

community. Legion Scholarships were awarded to Lakia

Eilts, Anna Beitelspacher, Ashley Beitelspacher and Kaleb

Koerselman.

Lakia Eilts will be attending Wayne State College and is the

granddaughter of Legion member Robert Plueger. Anna

Beitelspacher will be attending the University of Sioux Falls

and is the granddaughter of Legion member Dean

Beitelspacher. Ashley Beitelspacher will be attending South

Dakota State University and is the granddaughter of Legion

member Dean Beitelspacher. Kaleb Koerselman will be at-

of Legion members Cliff Koerselman and Gene

Beitelspacher.

This was the first year for the Sons of the American Legion

Post 724 to award scholarships. These scholarships are

awarded to a child of an active paid member of the Sons

of the American Legion Post 724 with a GPA of 2.50 or

higher, and who is in good standing with their

community. This year’s recipients are Ashley Beitelspacher,

the daughter of SAL member Michael Beitelspacher; Anna

Beitelspacher, the daughter of SAL member Michael

Beitelspacher; Kaleb Koerselman, the son of SAL member

Keith Koerselman, and Brooke Haage, the daughter of SAL

member Kurt Haage. Brooke Haage will be attending

Morningside College in Sioux City.
