Dear Big 5 South African Open Contestant,
Welcome to South Africa! We’re excited to have you here for the inaugural Big 5 South African Open.
The mission of U.S. Kids Golf is to help kids have fun learning the lifelong game of golf and to encourage family interaction that builds lasting memories. It is our desire that each family experiences our mission this week. While you all want to play well, remember this week is about having fun, making friends, and experiencing great family time together.
This Championship is a true team effort, with volunteers taking time out of their week to ensure this Championship runs smoothly. We truly could not make this event happen without them, so please be sure to thank our fantastic volunteers.
Please let us know if we can do anything to make your tournament experience more enjoyable. We wish you the best of luck!

U.S. Kids Golf and its partner Positive Coaching Alliance hope to teach life lessons through competitive sports. Through PCA’s Second-Goal Parent program, parents can learn how to introduce their children to competitive athletics. We hope to spread this message by offering parents an incentive to complete the PCA program. After completing the course at a discounted rate of $15, parents may redeem a $25 credit for their player’s entry into a USKG tournament. Complete details can be found on the U.S. Kids Golf website.Caddie Tips
A caddie is one who assists the player inaccordance with rules, which may includecarrying or handling the player’s clubs during play.
Rule 10.2b:When a player begins taking their stance forthe stroke that the player is about to play anduntil the stroke is made:The caddie must not deliberately stand on orclose to an “extension of the player’s line ofplay” behind the player’s ball for any reason.
Pace of Play Tips ÌCaddies should not over-coach. ÌAll players should play ready golf. ÌPlayers and caddies should walk with a purpose between shots. ÌKnow your group’s time par and position on the course. ÌWhen in doubt of a ruling, play a second ball under Rule 20.1. (Players must declare their intention to play a second ball BEFORE playing their original ball) ÌPlay a provisional ball if you think a player’s ball may be lost outside a penalty area or may be out of bounds. ÌBe mindful of how your pace of play affects your fellow competitors.

As of the Summer of 2019, U.S. Kids Golf has changed from the old color-based Priority Status Invitation System, to a new 13-level Priority Status System. This system now allows players to gain status not only by order of finish, but also by their scores, whichever is better.
This result of this is a fairer system that will better reward players for good play. In addition, more players will be able to gain status, thereby admitting them to more U.S. Kids Golf Multi-Day events.
The level of Status a player receives will determine when that player will receive invitations to future U.S. Kids Golf Multi-Day events. Please note that receiving an invitation does not guarantee a player’s spot, as entries into all events are subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis.
