The Answer Defeated by Apathy

Helen Keller-

“Science may have found a cure for most evils;

but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all –

the apathy of human beings. “

Exod 6

3) And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto

Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name

JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

Progressive revelation, something better than Abraham,

Isaac, and Jacob had.

In five verses God shows his blueprint of victory.

What was the result of this 100% positive message?

Israel under the haze of Stockholm syndrome, becomes

immune to the revelation of a Supernatural

deliverance;

like Pharaoh they resist God Almighty.

Exod 6

9) And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but

they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit,

and for cruel bondage.

Prov 25

28) He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a

city that is broken down, and without walls.

John 15

11) These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy

might remain in you, and that your joy might be

full.

John 16

6) But because I have said these things unto you,

sorrow hath filled your heart.

John 16

12) I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye

cannot bear them now.

Exod 6

10) And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

11) Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let

the children of Israel go out of his land.

I. Past- I have

Exod 6

4) And I have also established my covenant with them, to

give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage,

wherein they were strangers.

5) And I have also heard the groaning of the children of

Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have

remembered my covenant.

I have given a land grant (4)

John 14

2) In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were

not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place

for you.

3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come

again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am,

there ye may be also.

I have heard their groanings (5)

Heb 4

15) For we have not an high priest which cannot be

touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was

in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Heb 5

Page 4: The Answer Defeated by Apathy

8) Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience

by the things which he suffered;

Ps 78

40) How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness,

and grieve him in the desert!

I have remembered (5)

Ps 136

23) Who remembered us in our low estate: for his

mercy endureth for ever:

Num 23

19) God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the

son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and

shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not

make it good?

II. Present- I am

Exod 6

6) Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the

LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of

the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and

I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great

judgments:

Page 5: The Answer Defeated by Apathy

7) And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to

you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your

God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of

the Egyptians.

8) And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the

which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to

Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the

LORD.

I am the LORD, and I will (6)

Ezek 20

7) Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man

the abominations of his eyes, and defile not

yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD

your God.

8) But they rebelled against me, and would not

hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away

the abominations of their eyes, neither did they

forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out

my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against

them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

9) But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should

not be polluted before the heathen, among whom

they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto

them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

Page 6: The Answer Defeated by Apathy

I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the

LORD your God (7)

for us, who can be against us?

16) But now they desire a better country, that is, an

heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be

called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Rev 21

7) He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I

will be his God, and he shall be my son.

I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD. (8)

Ps 84

11) For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD

will give grace and glory: no good thing will he

withhold from them that walk uprightly.

12) O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth

in thee.

III. Future- I will

Exod 6

6) Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the

LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of

the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and

I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great

you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your

God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of

the Egyptians.

8) And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the

which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to

Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the

LORD.

I will bring you out from under your burdens (6)

1Pet 5

10) But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto

his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have

suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish,

strengthen, settle you.

I will rid you out of their bondage (6)

meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto

your souls.

30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

I will redeem you (6)

Gal 4

5) To redeem them that were under the law, that we

might receive the adoption of sons.

Titus 2

14) Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us

from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar

people, zealous of good works.

I will take you to me (7)

1John 5

12) He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath

not the Son of God hath not life.

Page 9: The Answer Defeated by Apathy

I will be to you a God (7)

Col 3

3) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in

God.

4) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall

ye also appear with him in glory.

I will bring you in unto the land (8)

The guarantee

Eph 1

13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the

word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom

also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that

holy Spirit of promise,

14) Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the

redemption of the purchased possession, unto the

praise of his glory.

I will give it you for an heritage (8)

John 16

23) And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily,

verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the

Father in my name, he will give it you.

Page 10: The Answer Defeated by Apathy

24) Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask,

and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

IV. What g[G]od do you exalt?

Exod 6

9) And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but

they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and

for cruel bondage.

2Cor 1

20) For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in

him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

2Pet 1

4) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and

precious promises...

John 14

27) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:

not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your

heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Exod 6

10) And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Page 11: The Answer Defeated by Apathy

11) Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let

the children of Israel go out of his land.

Ps 78

38) But he, being full of compassion, forgave their

iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned

he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

39) For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind

that passeth away, and cometh not again.

40) How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and

grieve him in the desert!

41) Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited

the Holy One of Israel.

Isa 5

18) Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of

vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:

19) That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his

work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the

Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may

know it!

42) They remembered not his hand, nor the day when

he delivered them from the enemy.

Mark 6

Page 12: The Answer Defeated by Apathy

51) And he went up unto them into the ship; and the

wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in

themselves beyond measure, and wondered.

52) For they considered not the miracle of the

loaves: for their heart was hardened.

Jesus expected in a time of trouble they would

remember the one who works miracles could handle

any problem.

Nothing about the loaves and fishes, is the same as

drowning in a storm on the sea; except for Jesus who

can do what no man can.

Israel did not appreciate how great their God was, or how

much he wanted to do with, and for them; let’s not be so

apathic to who we serve.
