THE present Catalogue contains the Paintings now on exhibi-tion, the Higinbotham Collection of Bronzes, the newly

acquired Modern Sculpture, and certain other objects. There is a separate catalogue of the Elbridge G. Hall Collection of Sculpture upon the first floor, and catalogues of the collections of Metals, Antiquities, Bronzes, Textiles and other objects, are in preparation. The objects will be found generally labeled. The attention of vis-itors is called to the Mrs. D. K. Pearsons Collection of Autotypes, the recent munificent gift of Dr. D. K. Pearsons, which occupies Room 15 upon the first floor, and. Room 27 upon the second floor.

THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO was incorporated May. 24, 1879, for the purpose of maintaining a Museum and School of Art. The collections are now permanently institlled in the new Museum Building upon the Lake Front, . and opened to the public every week day from 9 to 5, and Sundays from r to s. Admission is free to members and their families at all times, and free to all upon Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The Art School, in the same building, is in session, and includes departments of Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Decorative Design-ing and Architecture.

All friends of the Art Institute are invited to become members. Annual Members pay a fee of ten dollars for the year. Governing Members pay ten dollars a year, and an initiation fee of one hun-dred dollars. All members are entitled, with their families and visiting friends, to admission to all exhibitions, receptions and pub-lic lectures and entertainments of the Institute, and to the use of the reference library upon art.
