MODULAR'STONE'RETAINING'WALL''!

A. Stone:!Natural!quarry!dimension!stone!such!as!granite!and!untreated!bulk!architectural!aged!or!quarried!

fieldstone.!

B. Reinforcement:!Epoxy!coated!reinforcement!bars!to!be!sized!and!spaced!per!specification.!In!conformance!

to!ASTM!A934.!

C. Concrete:!Concrete!shall!have!compressive!strength!of!no!less!than!4,000!PSI.!In!conformance!with!ASTM!

C33!and!ACI!301H10.!

D. Geogrid:!Geogrid!reinforcement!shall!be!manufactured!for!soil!reinforcement!composed!of!high!molecular!

weight,!high!tenacity,!polyester!multifilament!yarns!which!are!woven!in!tension!and!finished!with!a!PVC!

LEVELING'PAD'!

A. Material!for!leveling!pad!shall!consist!of!concrete!or!stone!as!specified.!

!

B. Free!Draining!Backfill!material!shall!be!washed!stone!or!clean!gravel!as!specified.!!

!

C. Leveling!pad!shall!be!placed!as!shown!on!the!construction!drawings!and!constructed!to!the!proper!

elevation!to!ensure!the!final!elevation!shown!on!the!plans.!!

!

D. Leveling!Pad!shall!be!placed!on!undisturbed!native!soils!or!suitable!replacements!fill.!!

!

WALL'INSTALLATION''!

A. Means,!methods,!equipment,!and!installation!procedures!shall!be!in!accordance!with!the!manufacturer’s!

requirements.!!

BACKFILL'PLACEMENT''!

A. The!reinforced!backfill!shall!be!placed!as!shown!in!the!construction!plans!in!the!maximum!compacted!lift!

thickness!of!12!inches!and!shall!be!compacted!to!a!minimum!of!95%!of!modified!Proctor!density!(ASTM!D!

1557)!at!a!moisture!content!within!2%!of!optimum.!The!backfill!shall!be!placed!and!spread!in!such!a!

manner!as!to!eliminate!wrinkles!or!movement!of!the!geosynthetic!reinforcement!and!the!wall!units.!!

B. Backfill!placement!shall!commence!at!the!back!of!the!wall!and!progress!towards!the!retained!material.!!

!

C. At!completion!of!wall!construction,!backfill!shall!be!placed!level!with!final!top!of!wall!elevation.!If!final!

grading,!paving,!landscaping,!and/or!storm!drainage!installation!adjacent!to!the!wall!is!not!placed!

immediately!after!wall!completion,!temporary!surface!drainage!shall!be!provided!to!ensure!water!runoff!is!

not!directed!at!the!wall!nor!allowed!to!collect!or!pool!behind!the!wall!until!final!construction!adjacent!to!

the!wall!is!completed.!!
