Newsletter, January 2017
Message from Rev. Christy Foldenauer,
Senior Pastor
Dear Tomahawk family,
What a fantastic Advent and Christmas season we’ve experienced together this year! As the calendar page turns from December to January, our thoughts turn to a new year full of possibility and opportunity. We are beginning a new season at Tomahawk: a season of growing in Christ, abiding in His love, and reaching out in service to our community. I am excited for all that lies ahead for Tomahawk as we move into 2017 together!
Grace and peace,
Christy
Thank You
Dear Tomahawk,
Thank you so much for the celebration luncheon we shared on December 18th and for your generosity. You are a loving congregation and we are appreciative of your kindness, thoughtfulness, creativity, love offering and love. The book with pictures and highlighting our time together is a treasure! Also, thank you for restor-ing the financial compensation that I voluntarily gave up during the financially changing time.
Indeed we had a special two years together! We connected and bonded because God brought us together for this season. Please know you will always remain in our hearts and we carry you with us. Your future is bright as you move forward discerning God’s will and direction for you to impact the community and our world.
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts. Blessings to you.
With love and appreciation,
Jeanne and Jim Vaught

What a wonder-filled Christmas season we experienced
at Tomahawk!
From the Cherubs to the Sanctuary Choir, we sang of
Jesus’ birth. The handbell Choir rang again after an
absence of several years, the choral Kids and the Youth
Ensemble sang several times for Advent Worship and
the Praise Team sang through the season, beginning
with the first Sunday of Advent and concluding on
Christmas Eve. The Sanctuary choir filled the church
with their glorious music and our organist, Kenny Tag-
gart, beautifully played the carols of Christmas.
Thanks to all for their contributions. I am grateful for
each of you!
“Thank you to our Tomahawk family for all
the prayers, cards and meals during the illness
and passing of my mother, Marion Burns. Your
love and support helped us get through a very
difficult time.”
-Bonnie Cheatham and family
“Thank you so much for your generous Christ-
mas gifts to us! It is a pleasure and joy to serve
with you.”

Inclement Weather Policy
As we proceed through the winter
months, the safety of our congregation is
our priority. In the event of inclement
weather, we will place announcements
about service cancelations on the website,
church voicemail, Facebook, and on
Channel 12.
.
Deacons of the Month
Elaine Liebgott and Laura Easton
A good way to stay warm in the wintertime is to
have a shawl in your lap that you’re working on.
Come join us in the prayer shawl room downstairs
in our church. It’s very informal and relaxing.
We can help you get started on a project. We
meet every Monday morning from 10:30 til 12:30,
except on the 4th Monday when we meet at 9:30
am, because of the Senior ministry meeting, and
then we go out to lunch. Lunch is optional, how-
ever. Drop by and see what we’re doing.
Missions
Every 5th Sunday is Feed the Homeless
Sunday. This month we will meet at
9:30am in the Fellowship Hall on January
29 to prepare lunches and then leave at
11:00am to distribute food to those less
fortunate than we. We should be returning
to the church by 1:00pm.
Another missions opportunity is with
Mercy Mall. Mercy Mall is always in need
of volunteers for sorting and serving
clients. Thank you for your contributions.
Please see Pete Zangardi if you’d like to
help or have any questions.

Upcoming Community Opportunities
Register for Community Academy
Registration is now open for the Chesterfield County Police Department Community Academy that kicks
off on February 7, 2017. Participants will meet each Tuesday from February 7 to April 11 at 8:30 a.m. at
the Community Services Building, 2730 Hicks Road.
The academy includes visual presentations, question-and-answer sessions, tours and a variety of practical
exercises. The department believes graduates of the Community Academy play an important partner role
in helping it ensure that Chesterfield County is the safest and most secure community of its size in the U.S.
More than 900 residents have already completed the Community or Senior Community academies, which
were first offered in 1999.
The Community Academy is free and open to the following groups: all county residents, individuals who
belong to a community or civic organization located in Chesterfield, or individuals who own a business lo-
cated in Chesterfield County.
Applicants will be screened for activities that may disqualify them from participating in the academy.
Registration for this academy session will be open until January 27, 2017. For more information or an ap-
plication, please call Career Officer C.V Eckrich at 804-706-2982 or email him at
