“Although we often think of hospitality as a tame and pleasant practice, Christian hospitality has always had a subversive, countercultural dimension. ‘Hospitality is resistance,’ as one person from the Catholic Worker observed. Especially when the larger society disregards or dishonors certain persons, small acts of respect and welcome are potent far beyond them-selves. They point to a different system of valuing and an alternate model of relationships.” -Christine Pohl, Making Room: Recovering Hospitality as a Christian Tradition For the last several weeks, a small group has been meeting to have fellowship with each other, and to read and discuss Chris-tine Pohl’s book on hospitality. The above quote sums up much of what the book is about. It asks the question: How can we recover hospitality as a meaningful expression of our faith in our daily lives? And what would that look like today? In both the Old and New Testaments, and especially in the life and teaching of Jesus, there is a clear call to meet the needs of the “least of these;” those who are vulnerable and marginalized. As we meet and discuss these issues together, we are learning to see people the way Jesus sees them, and to take small concrete steps to “make room” for those who are most in need of the love and welcome of Christ. The group will continue meeting through the month of May. It’s not too late if you’d like to join the conversation. All are welcome! Grace and peace to you on our shared journey, Thomas

Dear Tomahawk Family,
Thank you for the privilege and joy of allowing me to serve my seminary internship with you all this past school year. It has been a joy and a blessing for me to have a special part in the lives of your families. I have grown to love your chil-dren and this church family as a whole. You have many spe-cial gifts and it was exciting to serve alongside you in minis-try. I pray that God will continue to lead, guide and direct each of us, as we seek to further the work of the Kingdom together. Thank you again for allowing me to serve my sem-inary internship with you, and for the warm welcome you offered to my family. My experience was rich, full, and most rewarding. Special thanks to Mike Audet, Crystal Breedlove, Elsie Dillard, Brittany McCarter and Chris Schardt for serv-ing on my Site Team and meeting monthly with me over the course of this year. Your servant hearts were an inspiration to me, and I appreciated the opportunity to learn from each one of you, and have grown through this process.
Thank you again,
Krista Manuel

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Please stop by the Prayer Shawl Workroom to see our new storage cabinets and wall decor! We have lot’s of room to store our projects and donated yarn thanks to a dili-gent search for just the right pieces by Kim and Steve Parker!
A Tomahawk mission team will not be heading to Canada this summer, but the hats, scarves and mittens in process will be utilized in that ministry. We understand that Jim and Shirley McNair are planning a trip to this area in late summer and Tomahawk is on their itinerary. Jim will take the items back to Canada for us.
The ministry leadership team met, and identified several oth-er projects for consideration. More on those later.
We seek your continued prayers and material support as we move forward on these projects.
Please see Sherry Graves with any questions.
