    01 - SITE

The site is located in Vysočany district, along Sokolovská road. The corner location of the plot is ideal as it provides

    the site with more vistas.

    05 - GARDEN OF WONDER

Recessing the central part to form a common courtyard. This enhances the quality of the apartments by creating

    views throughout the built space.

    02 - ACCESS

The site has been recessed to create parking for the users to maximise the ground level for pedestrian activities.

06 - CONNECTING WITH THE PAST

Reviving the idea of urban wine-yards. It also createsspaces for interaction and social gathering, unlike the

conventional idea of using the topmost part of the building exclusively for services.

    03 - BOUNDARIES

The building footprint is inset by 5 metres to provide a safe corridor, with a 4 metre overhang to provide shade and

    cover.

    07 - URBAN FARMS

'Upcycling' the roof for the purpose of urban cultivation of fruits and vegetables. As a result of this activation, interior

    temperatures are passively lowered.

    04 - MASSING

The basic mass has been formed by extruding the site based on the maximum usable volume.

    08 - SMART ROOF

The organic form of the roof composed of solar panels mimics the organic life thriving beneath it. The roof also

helps in trapping the water vapour released from the vegetation while letting in heat from the sun.

    BUILDING POLLUTION

"Pollution caused by buildings is 2 times worse than by industry and almost 3 times worse than by transportation"

    -European Environment Agency

    SOLAR ENERGY

The 5350 sqm roof composed of solar panels produce around 400 kW of energy i.e. equivalent to

"60% of the total requirement of the building"Equivalent to 314 barrels of petrol which would have

produced 220 tons of carbon dioxide.

(Energy required by the building = 675kW)

    DEMAND FOR ENERGY

250 Apartments + Utilities require around 750,000 kWhper year.

That is equivalent of burning 450 barrels of petrol and producing around 315 tons of carbon dioxide.

    LOWER DEPENDENCY ON AGRICULTURAL LAND

Growing food on your own reduces the demand from the agricultural fields. This reduces the wastage of food and

    in-turn the Carbon dioxide emissions.

    FOOD WASTAGE

"Every year the amount of food wasted is equivalent to food produced by 1.4 billion hectares of terrain" i.e.one

third of the total land area of the world. As a result 3.3 billion tons of Carbon dioxide is produced
