Workplace program Research: The impact of text message quiz programs in Uganda: some of the effects on health education and prevention. Researchers: A.M. de Lepper*, C. Tuijn**, L. Oskam*** Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht, Universiteit Utrecht, the Netherlands** Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen/Royal Tropical Institue, Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Methods:The data was retrieved retrospectively from a web-based database. All available data are text messages sent by participants in answer to text message quizzes (TMQ) sent by Text to Change (TTC). The TTC projects studied were done in collaboration with their local partner, Health Initiatives for the Private Sector (HIPS) and ran in September-October 2009 and May-November 2010.Participants of the TMQs provide all available data. They are approached through an introductory text message asking if he or she would like to participate in a TMQ. In the researched projects participants were aimed to be either employed at or relatives/acquaintances of employees at Kinyara Sugar Works LTD, Massindi, Uganda or at Kasese Cobalt Company LTD, Kasese, Uganda . In total there are about 1400 participants from KSWL and 1100 participants from KCCL. The main outcome parameters measured in the current study are - Knowledge gain- Effects on prevention of HIV-transmission- Parameters on texting behavior of participantsResults are expected in the first half of 2011.
