1. Introduction

The Swiss International School of Qatar is a private institution placed under the agreement signed on 25 February 2015 between the State of Qatar and Bellevue Education.

The School is an IB Candidate School; an internationally recognised curriculum governed by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) and in compliance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar.

As such, the programmes that will be offered; the Primary Years curriculum in the Primary School, Middle Years curriculum, will be in accordance to the standards and curriculum set for all IB World Schools by the IBO with incorporated elements of Swiss culture and the French language, to which are added the teaching of Islam for the Muslim pupils, and the teaching of the Arabic language and Qatar history and culture for all the pupils.

The Terms and Conditions set out for the Swiss International School of Qatar reflect the custom and practice of international schools. They form the basis of a legally binding contract between the Parents and the School together with:

• The Acceptance Form

• The Fees and Financial Conditions

• The School Rules and Regulations

These Terms and Conditions are intended to promote the education and welfare of pupils and the stability, forward-planning, proper resourcing and development of the Swiss International School of Qatar. When the signed Terms and Conditions together with the signed Acceptance Form have been submitted to the Admissions Office, the Parents/Guardians have acknowledged a full acceptance of the Terms, Rules and Regulations of the School.

المدرسة السويسرية الدولية في قطر هي مؤسسة خاصة أنشأت بموجب اتفاقية وقعت في 25 فبراير 2015م بين دولة

قطر وبلفيو للتعليم.

وتقدم المدرسة منهج البكالوريا الدولية؛ وهو منهج معترف به دوليا يخضع لمنظمة البكالوريا الدولية )III( بما يتوافق مع

متطلبات وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي في دولة قطر.

وعلى هذا النحو، ستكون البرامج التي سُتقدم؛ وهي برنامج سنوات المرحلة االبتدائية, وبرنامج سنوات المرحلة

المتوسطة, وبرنامج الدبلوم، بما يتفق مع المعايير والمناهج الدراسية الموضوعة لجميع المدارس العالمية التي تدرس

منهج البكالوريا الدولية من قبل منظمة البكالوريا الدولية مع تضمين عناصر من الثقافة السويسرية واللغة الفرنسية، التي

أضيفت إليها تعاليم اإلسالم للتالميذ المسلمين، وتعليم اللغة العربية والتاريخ القطري والثقافة لجميع التالميذ.

تعكس األحكام والشروط المحددة للمدرسة السويسرية الدولية في قطر عرف وممارسة المدارس الدولية. وهي

تشكل أساس عقد ملزم قانونيًا بين أولياء األمور والمدرسة جنبا إلى جنب مع:

تهدف هذه الشروط واألحكام إلى تعزيز تعليم ورفاهية التالميذ واستقرار المدرسة السويسرية الدولية في قطر،

والتخطيط لمستقبلها، وتوفير الموارد المناسبة لها, وتطويرها. عند تقديم هذه الشروط واألحكام الموقعة جنبا

إلى جنب مع استمارة القبول الموقعة إلى مكتب القبول، فيعتبر هذا إقرار من الوالدين / أولياء األمور بقبول األحكام

والقواعد واللوائح الخاصة بالمدرسة كاملة.


2. Terminology

In these Terms and Conditions

“Acceptance Form” means the form provided by the School for parents to complete when accepting a place for their child at the School

“Registration Fee” means the sum set out in the Schedule of Fees, as amended from time to time

“Deposit” means the sum set out in the Schedule of Fees, to be paid in relation to existing students at the School to reserve a place for the start of the following academic year, as amended from time to time

“Fees” means the fees set out in the Schedule of Fees as amended from time to time

“Child” means the child named on the Acceptance Form, of whatever age, admitted by the School to be educated

“The Head of the School” means the person appointed to be responsible for the day-to-day management of the School as appointed by Bellevue Education Group Ltd.

“School Department” means a section of the School which may be Early Childhood, Primary Years, Middle Years, Diploma Years, or other department as specified

“The Parents or You” means each person who has signed the Acceptance Form as a parent or guardian of a child or person who with the School’s written consent replaces a person who has signed the Acceptance Form. The parents or guardians are legally responsible, jointly and severally, for complying with their obligations under these Terms and Conditions. Even if Fees are payable by a third party such as an employer, the parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring all obligations and payment deadlines are met

“The School or We or Us” means the legal entity carrying on as Swiss International School of Qatar as now or in the future constituted (and any successor)

يمألها أولياء األمور عند وجود مكان ألطفالهم في المدرسة.

»رسوم التسجيل« تعني المبلغ المبين في جدول الرسوم،

حسب تعديلها من وقت آلخر.

»اإليداع« يعني المبلغ المنصوص عليه في جدول الرسوم،

الذي سيتم دفعه فيما يتعلق بالطالب الحاليين الموجودين في المدرسة لحجز مكان لبدء العام الدراسي التالي، حسب

تعديلها من وقت آلخر.

»الرسوم« تعني الرسوم المبينة في جدول الرسوم، حسب


»الطفل« يعني الطفل المسجل اسمه في استمارة القبول،

أيا كان عمره، الذي قبلت المدرسة تعليمه

»مدير املدرسة« يعني الشخص المعين ليكون مسؤوال عن

اإلدارة اليومية للمدرسة حسب تعيينه من قبل مجموعة بلفيو للتعليم المحدودة.

»دائرة املدرسة« تعني قسم من المدرسة قد يكون قسم

الطفولة المبكرة، أو سنوات المرحلة االبتدائية، أو سنوات المرحلة المتوسطة، أو المدرسة الثانوية، أو دائرة أخرى حسبما

يتم تحديده.

»ويل األمر أو أنت« يعني كل شخص قد وقع على استمارة

القبول باعتباره ولي أمر أو وصي لطفل أو شخص يحل محل, مع الحصول على موافقة كتابية من المدرسة, للشخص

الذي وقع استمارة القبول. ويكون أولياء األمور أو األوصياء مسؤولين من الناحية القانونية، بالتكافل والتضامن، عن

االمتثال بالتزاماتهم الواردة في هذه الشروط واألحكام. حتى لو كانت الرسوم مستحقة الدفع من قبل طرف ثالث مثل

صاحب العمل، يكون أولياء األمور أو األوصياء هم المسؤولون عن ضمان الوفاء بجميع االلتزامات والمواعيد النهائية للسداد.

»املدرسة أو نحن أو نا« تعني الكيان القانوني الذي يعمل

على أنه المدرسة السويسرية الدولية في قطر في الحاضر أو الذي يتم تشكله في المستقبل )وأي خليفة(.


“Terms and Conditions” means these terms and conditions as amended from time to time

“Parental Responsibility” means that those who have Parental Responsibility (i.e. legal responsibility for the child) are entitled to receive relevant information concerning the child whether or not they are a party to this contract unless a court order has been made to the contrary, or there are other reasons which justify withholding information to safeguard the best interests and welfare of the child

“Re-enrolment period” means the period notified by the School during which the School will accept the re-enrolment of existing students for the following academic year subject to the conditions set out in these Terms and Conditions

“School Rules” means the rules of the School as provided in the Handbook, a copy of the current version of which is provided to each child and parents on entry, as those rules may be amended from time to time for legal, safety or other substantive reasons or in order to assist the proper administration of the School. Parents will be given notice of amendments

“School day” means any part or whole of a day when the School is in session

إخطار بها والتي ستقبل خاللها المدرسة إعادة قيد الطالب الحاليين للعام الدراسي التالي وفقا للشروط المنصوص

عليها في هذه الشروط واألحكام.

»قواعد املدرسة« تعني قواعد المدرسة على النحو

المنصوص عليه في الكتيب، وهو نسخة من اإلصدار الحالي التي يتم تقديمها إلى كل طفل وولي أمر عند االلتحاق

بالمدرسة، ويجوز تعديل هذه القواعد من وقت آلخر ألسباب قانونية أو ألسباب السالمة أو ألسباب موضوعية أخرى أو من

أجل مساعدة اإلدارة السليمة للمدرسة. سيتم إعطاء إخطار أولياء األمور بالتعديالت.

»اليوم املدريس« يعني جزء من اليوم أو اليوم بأكمله عند

3. Admissions Policy3.1. Registration: The primary mission of the Swiss

International School of Qatar is to offer schooling to children of international and Qatari nationality. Applicants will be considered as candidates for admission and entry to the School when the Application Fee has been paid and the applicant and parents have attended an interview. Admission occurs when the parents accept the offer of a place, the acceptance form has been completed and returned to us and the non-refundable Registration Fee and a non refundable Seat Reservation Deposit have been paid (deducted from the first term’s fees). Admission will be subject to the availability of a place and the child and parents satisfying the admission requirements at the relevant time. Entry occurs on the date when the child attends the School for the first time under these terms and conditions. Offer of a place, registration fee and deposit: A non-refundable Seat Reservation Deposit and a non-refundable Registration Fee as shown on the fees and financial conditions in the admissions booklet will be payable when parents accept the offer of a place. The Registration Fee and the Seat Reservation Deposit are non-refundable. The non-refundable Seat Reservation Deposit will be deducted from the first term’s fees. We urge families who are in the process of applying for their Residence Permit during the application process for the Swiss International School of Qatar to make themselves familiar with clause 3.2 regarding our Cancellation and Withdrawal Policy. All children will need to have a valid Qatari Resident Permit to join the School.

3.2. Withdrawals and cancellations: If you wish to withdraw your acceptance of a place after submitting the Acceptance Form and paying the Registration Fee and the Seat Reservation Deposit, but before your child starts at the School, written notice must be given as soon as possible and before the first termly instalments of fees are due. Failure to do so will lead to the first termly fee instalment to be payable. The Registration Fees and the Seat Reservation Deposit will not be refunded. For families who

wish to withdraw their child currently enrolled at the School, you should inform the school one month prior to leaving. The withdrawal of a child currently enrolled at the School will not lead to a reimbursement of any amounts of the fees for that Term.

3.3. Withdrawal by the School: The Swiss International School of Qatar reserves the right to withdraw an already registered student when any or all of the following conditions apply:

The child’s presence in the class has an ongoing negative impact on her/his classmates

• The child’s behaviour is determined to have a detrimental impact on the school community

• The child’s attendance record is unacceptable

• The child’s learning needs cannot be met given available resources

The School will act in a way which is fair in all the circumstances when taking decisions under this Clause 3.3. No refund of fees will be given in the event of any or all of the above cases.

3.4. Seat Reservation Deposit: During the yearly Re-enrolment period a non refundable Seat Reservation Deposit is required to secure your child’s place for the forthcoming academic year. The Seat Reservation will need to be paid in March alongside the Re-enrollement form signed by the family. The deposit will be deducted from the first termly instalment of the next academic year’s tuition fee.

3.5. Year group transition: It is assumed children will automatically transition to the following year but the School reserves the right to withdraw a place for a student in accordance with the terms as set out in clause 3.3

3.6. Assessment breaks: Children must satisfy the school’s assessment criteria in order to transfer from the following programs: Kindergarten to Primary School Primary School to Middle Years

وجود أي من أو كل الحاالت المذكورة أعاله.

4. Fees and Financial Conditions 4.1. Annual Fees: All the costs incurred in the usual

course of the education by the School of your child, including the provision of any necessary educational materials and as outlined in the fees and financial conditions in the admissions booklet, shall be met by the school fees unless otherwise notified by the School.

4.2. Additional Fees: The School fees do not cover the extra-learning support, extra-curricular activities offered by external staff, school trips and educational visits, examination fees and some special events. These activities and services are deemed to be supplemental and charged as additional fees. The School uniform is also not included in the annual fee, but is paid directly to the uniform supplier.

4.3. Payment of Fees: Each person who has signed the Acceptance Form is liable for the whole of the fees due and any supplemental charges. They remain liable to the School for the whole of the fees and supplemental charges due, also in the case of where a third party such as an employer are responsible for payment of the fees or any part of them. Where two parents have signed the Acceptance Form, one of them may withdraw from the contract with the School by submitting one term’s notice in writing provided they have obtained the prior written consent of both the School and the remaining parent.

4.4. Payment schedule and late payments: The annual School fees are to be paid on the first day of each term of the academic year. Dates will vary each year depending on the first day of term.The invoices will be issued one month before the payment deadline. Fees not paid by the 1st of the following month, after the due date are subject to an administration charge of QR 250 per invoice and parents will have a further 14 days to settle the account. Accounts not settled within the 14 days will incur a further QR 250 charge per

اآلخر.

جدول املدفوعات والدفعات املتأخرة: يستحق دفع . 4.4

الرسوم الدراسية السنوية في اليوم األول من كل فصل دراسي في العام الدراسي، وتختلف المواعيد

تبعا لليوم األول من كل فصل دراسي. سيتم إصدار الفواتير قبل شهر واحد من الموعد المحدد للدفع.

وتخضع الرسوم التي لم تسدد بحلول األول من الشهر التالي لموعد االستحقاق لرسوم إدارية قدرها 250

invoice and parents to settle the account within 7 days or the school place will be removed.

4.5. Unpaid Fees: Each invoice received from the School must be paid in full in accordance with the terms of the invoice. We reserve the right to refuse to allow your child to attend the School or to withhold any references while any fees or notice period remain unpaid. See clause 4.4 for costs incurred for late payments.

4.6. Irregular start date: If you have reserved and secured a spot at the School before the first day of the Term, the full term will be invoiced. Should you secure your child’s spot at a different day from the first School Day (in accordance with the School’s offer deadline), we will calculate the pro-rated fees for that Term, once your child’s start date is confirmed by us. The pro-rata calculations will be based on the date the place is secured, and not on the actual start date of the child. Please note that if your child’s start date is postponed more than once, with the invoice remaining unpaid, the school may withdraw your child’s place.

4.7. Fees increases: The fees, as approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, are reviewed annually and are subject to increase from time to time.

4.8. Information about Fees: The parents’ consent to the School making enquiries of the child’s previous school for confirmation that all sums due and owing to such school have been paid. The parents also consent to the School informing any other schools or educational establishment to which the child is to be transferred if any Fees of this School are unpaid.

4.9. Fees in lieu of notice: In circumstances where the parents have not given a month’s Written Notice as outlined in Clause 3.2, Fees in lieu of notice means Fees in full at the rate applicable for the next Term following withdrawal and not limited to the parental contribution in the case of an employer sponsorship contribution, or other award or concession. One month’s Fees in lieu of notice represents a genuine pre-estimate of

مكان لطفلكم في المدرسة قبل اليوم األول من الفصل الدراسي يتم إصدار فاتورة بالفصل الدراسي بأكمله، أما

إذا قمتم بتأمين مكان لطفلكم في يوم آخر غير اليوم الدراسي األول )وفقا للموعد النهائي لعرض المدرسة(

فإن رسوم ذلك الفصل الدراسي ُتحَسب على أساس تناسبي بمجرد تأكيدنا على تاريخ حضور الطفل إلى

المدرسة ألول مرة، وُيرجى العلم بأنه إذا تم تأجيل تاريخ حضور طفلكم إلى المدرسة ألول مرة ألكثر من مرة دون

سداد الفاتورة يجوز للمدرسة أن تسحب مكان طفلكم.

زيادة الرسوم: الرسوم: يتم مراجعة الرسوم, على النحو . 4.7

المعتمد من وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي في دولة قطر, سنويا وتخضع للزيادة من وقت آلخر.

معلومات عن الرسوم: الرسوم: يوافق ولي األمر على . 4.8

إجراء المدرسة الستفسارات عن مدرسة طفلك السابقة للتأكد من دفع جميع المبالغ المستحقة لهذه المدرسة. ويوافق ولي األمر أيضا على استعالم المدرسة عن أي

مدرسة أو مؤسسة تعليمية أخرى سيتم نقل طفلك إليها في حال عدم سداد أي من رسوم هذه المدرسة.

الرسوم عوضا عن اإلخطار:اإلخطار: في الظروف التي . 4.9

لم يرسل فيها ولي األمر إخطار كتابي مسبق مدته شهر واحد على النحو المبين في البند 3-2، فإن الرسوم

عوضا عن اإلخطار تعني الرسوم بالكامل بالمعدل المطبق للفصل الدراسي المقبل بعد السحب, وليست

4.10. Refund or waiver:

Fees will not be refunded or waived if:

• the child is absent through illness; or

• a Term is shortened or a vacation extended; or

• the child is released home before or after public examinations or otherwise before the normal end of a Term; or

• the School is temporarily closed due to adverse weather conditions; or

• for any reason other than exceptionally and at the sole discretion of the Head of the School in a case of genuine hardship

5. School Rules and Attendance

It is a condition that all students of the Swiss International School of Qatar comply with the School Rules as amended from time to time. As a parent you undertake to ensure that your child attends School punctually and that your child conforms to such rules of appearance, dress and behaviour.

5.1. Attendance: By registering a child at the Swiss International School of Qatar, a family commits to the child attending classes regularly, as it is essential for his/her good development and learning experience. Failure to attend classes regularly might result in the child being excluded from the School. At least a 90% attendance is required each academic year.

5.2. Absenteeism and tardiness: Absences are recorded in a special register held by each teacher. We consider management of absenteeism to be of great importance, and the establishment reserves the right to contact parents in case of absence, whether by telephone or email, even at their workplace. Families must notify the School in writing within 24 hours the precise motive of any absence. In case of illness lasting more than 48 hours,

إنه شرط مسبق أن يلتزم جميع طالب المدرسة السويسرية الدولية في قطر بقواعد المدرسة, حسب تعديلها من وقت

آلخر. وبصفتك ولي أمر, تتعهد بضمان حضور طفلك إلى المدرسة في موعده المحدد والتزام طفلك بقواعد المظهر

والزي والسلوك.

الحضور: بتسجيل طفل في المدرسة السويسرية . 5.1

الدولية في قطر، تلتزم األسرة بحضور الطفل إلى المدرسة بانتظام، حيث أن ذلك ضروري لتطوره الجيد

وخبرة التعلم لديه. وقد يؤدي عدم الحضور إلى المدرسة بانتظام إلى استبعاد الطفل من المدرسة. ومن الضروري

حضور 90% على األقل من كل عام دراسي.

الغياب والتأخر: يتم تسجيل الغياب في سجل خاص . 5.2

a medical certificate must be provided. If the illness is contagious, the student’s parents must specify it as quickly as possible, in which case a certificate of non-contagion must also be provided upon the student returning to class. Special attention must be paid to the child’s cleanliness, his/her personal hygiene and potential parasites (lice).

Absences that are planned in advance must be notified by letter from the parents to the School and are subject to the School’s approval. Authorisations may be granted by the direction of the School for a child’s absence if circumstances of exceptional gravity deem such absence justified.

The School keeps a record of absences throughout the duration of the student’s schooling at the Swiss International School of Qatar. The number of absences and late arrivals is mentioned in each End of Term Report. If necessary, parents will receive a written warning which will be forwarded to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar. The School will not be held responsible for any academic failure related to this lack of attendance.

The only motives which are deemed to be legitimate are as follows: the child’s sickness, the transmissible or contagious disease of a member of the child’s family, a solemn family reunion, exams and religious festivals.

Any student arriving late must proceed to the School Administration. Repeated tardiness as reported by the Administration or the teacher will be subject to notification to the parents by the direction of the School and would be reported in the student’s personal file.

5.3. Exemptions from physical education and sports: A medical certificate will not be required if a single class is exceptionally missed. A simple note signed by the parents needs to be provided to the teacher. A medical certificate will be required if the exemption concerns more than one class. This certificate will need to specify clearly the duration of the exemption as well as the type of activities to which it applies.

اإلمر إنذار كتابي على أن يرسله إلى وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي في دولة قطر. ولن تكون المدرسة

مسؤولة عن أي فشل أكاديمي متعلق بعدم الحضور هذا.

5.4. Safeguarding and health and safety: The School reserves the right to search all property on the School premises. This policy is adopted with the aim of safeguarding the health and safety of students.

The School reserves the right, subject to applicable data protection legislation, to monitor your child’s email communication and internet use for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the School Rules.

5.5. Request for authorisation to leave early: Such requests will be granted exceptionally. One disclaimer per child will be signed by the adult representative of the child who will come to collect him/her.

5.6. School schedule: The School schedule will be notified to parents and must be respected. Classes take place between Sunday and Thursday. All classes start at 7:30 am. Parents will be provided with a full schedule for each Grade level ahead of their child joining the School.

Please note, pupils must be accompanied by their parents or by a person authorised by the family when arriving and leaving the School. Families must notify the Head of School in writing if a pupil is to leave the school with an adult other than a family member or authorised persons.

5.7. Uniform: During school time it is compulsory for all children enrolled at the Swiss International School of Qatar to wear the SISQ school uniform.

Prohibited and valuable items: Pupils are prohibited from bringing to school: any sum of money, any valuable item, any dangerous item or any item which may cause wounds, and, more generally, any item which is not directly linked to school activities. Carrying or using mobile telephones, music players, digital pads and game consoles is forbidden. These items will be confiscated by the teacher/ the day-to-

5.8. School nationality population: To ensure a well-balanced international school community that allows SISQ pupils to experience and immerse themselves in a truly international learning environment, the School endeavours to maintain a nationality mix of approximately 25% local pupils and 75% international pupils. The school reserves the right to amend the nationality population as it sees fit.

6. Parents’ Obligations 6.1. Health information: As part of the SISQ

Application Process, it is a condition of your child’s joining the School that you complete and submit to the School a medical questionnaire in respect of your child. You undertake to inform the School of any health or medical condition, disability or allergy that your child has or subsequently develops, whether long-term or short-term, including any infections. If the School so requires due to a health risk either presented by your child to others or presented to your child by others or by reason of a virus, pandemic, epidemic or other health risk, you undertake to keep your child at home and not permit him/her to return to the School until such time as the health risk has been averted. In accordance with Qatari regulations, the School may choose to suspend a pupil temporarily on medical grounds if deemed necessary.

6.2. Parent contract: The School is entitled to treat any instruction, authority, request or prohibition received from any person who has signed the Acceptance Form as having been given on behalf of both or all such persons.

6.3. Parental concerns: If you have cause for concern as to a matter of safety, care, discipline or progress of your child you must inform the School without delay. Complaints should be made in in writing and submitted to the School office for the information of the Head of School. A copy of the School’s complaint procedure can be supplied on request.

Information about learning difficulties: The parents shall notify the Head of the School when completing the School’s Application Form and subsequently in writing if they are aware or suspect that the child (or anyone in his or her immediate family) has a learning difficulty and the parents must provide the School with copies of all written reports and other relevant information. The parents will be asked to withdraw the child, without being charged Fees in lieu of notice if, in the professional judgement of the Head of School and after consultation with the parents and with the child (where appropriate), the School is unable to provide adequately for the child’s special educational needs. The School reserves the right to charge for the provision of additional teaching.

7. School’s Obligations7.1. Child’s welfare: While your child remains a

pupil of the School, we undertake to exercise reasonable skill and care in respect of his or her education and welfare. This obligation will apply during School hours and at other times when your child is permitted to be on School premises or is participating in activities organised by the School.

7.2. Provision of education: The School will do all that is reasonable to provide an educational environment and teaching of a range, standard and quality which is suitable for each child and to provide education to at least the standard required by law in the particular circumstances.

7.3. Child’s Progress Reports: We shall monitor your child’s progress at the School and produce regular written reports. We shall advise you if we have any concern about your child’s progress but we do not undertake to diagnose dyslexia or other specific conditions. A formal assessment can be arranged either by you or by the School at your expense. You may be asked to withdraw

your child without being charged fees in lieu of notice if in the opinion of the Head of School, the School cannot provide adequately for your child’s special educational needs.

7.4. Learning difficulties: The School shall do all that is reasonable to detect and deal appropriately with a learning difficulty which is considered to be a “special educational need”. The College staff are not, however, qualified to make a medical diagnosis of conditions such as those commonly referred to as dyslexia, or of other learning difficulties.

7.5. Screening for learning difficulties: The screening tests available to Schools are indicative only: they are not infallible. The parents will be notified if a screening test indicates that the child may have a learning difficulty. A formal assessment can be arranged by the School at the parents’ expense or by the parents themselves.

7.6. At home support: In order to fulfil our obligations, we need your corporation in fulfilling your own obligations under these Terms and Conditions; encouraging your child in his or her studies, and giving appropriate support at home; keeping the School informed of matters which affect your child; maintaining a courteous and constructive relationship with School staff; and attending meetings and otherwise keeping in touch with the School where your child’s interests so require.

7.7. Physical contact: We will not subject your child to physical contact except where such contact may be deemed appropriate in order to avert an immediate danger of personal injury to, or an immediate danger to the property of, a person (including your child).

The parents’ consent to such physical contact with the child:

• as may accord with good practice; or

• as may be appropriate and proper for teaching and instruction; or

Unless you notify us to the contrary, you consent to your child participating, under proper supervision, in contact sports and in other normal sports and activities which may entail some risk of physical injury. The parents acknowledge that while the College will provide appropriate supervision the risk of injury cannot be eliminated.

7.8. Medical care: If your child requires urgent medical attention while under the School’s care, we will if practicable attempt to obtain your prior consent. However, should we be unable to contact you we shall be authorised to make the decision on your behalf should consent be required for urgent treatment (including anaesthetic or operation) recommended by a doctor.

8. School Code of Conduct and Regulations

8.1. School community: The teacher, as well as any other person working at the school, is forbidden to act, gesture, write or speak in a way which expresses indifference or contempt for a child or his/her family, or which might hurt the sensitivity of children or their family. Pupils, as well as their families, are forbidden from acting, gesturing, writing or speaking in a way which would be offensive to the person or the status of any school staff member or be disrespectful to their fellow pupils or their families.

Furthermore, pupils and their families must not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, colour, gender, language, religion, national or social origin, or any other circumstance.

8.2. School access: No child or parent is authorised to enter alone into a classroom, or any other space which is reserved for the establishment personnel, for any reason whatsoever.

Gatherings for the start or end of classes as well as movements between school premises must take place in order, calm and discipline, and are placed under the responsibility of teachers.

8.3. Hygiene and safety: In the playground, rubbish must be collected and left in the rubbish bins. The premises are to be kept clean and orderly. At the end of each class, pupils must put the tables in order and throw papers into a basket before they leave the classroom.

8.4. Safety: Evacuation drills have to be carried out three times per year under the responsibility of the Head of the Junior and Senior School Departments. Safety instructions are affixed on boards in the school.

8.5. Medicines: Pupils cannot carry nor take any medications alone within the establishment. All medical treatments that are followed by pupils must be notified in writing to the School Administration. Parents must deposit all medication which must be administered to the child at the School office. Any medication must be accompanied by a doctor’s prescription. Without this document, no medication will be administered in order to protect the safety of children.

8.6. Food: In accordance with the regulations of the State of Qatar, the Swiss International School of Qatar prohibits the consumption of any food (soft drinks, pastries, sweets, crisps, etc) identified as particularly detrimental to health.

8.7. Insurance: The school is insured against all risks relating to school staff as well as pupils during school and extra-curricular activities.

9. Disciplinary Procedures9.1. Early Years/Nursery: The School plays a pivotal

role in the schooling of children, and everything must be done to ensure that children are fulfilled. This is the reason why no sanction may be applied. A child who is being momentarily difficult may however be isolated during a very short time that is necessary to make them recover behaviour which is compatible with life in common. The child must never be left without supervision.

However, when the behaviour of a child gravely and durably disturbs the running of a class and shows an obvious absence of familiarity with the school environment, the situation of this child will be submitted to the scrutiny of the educational team. The Head of School may take a decision to temporarily withdraw the child from school, after meeting the children and in agreement with the Inspector of National Education. In this case, frequent contact must be maintained between parents and the educational team so as to allow the child to return to school as soon as possible.

9.2. Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programme: Sanctions that may apply in Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programme are placed in annexure. They correspond to violations of the regulations committed by pupils. In all cases, sanctions respect the essential principles of justice. They prohibit all corporal chastisements. They are always explained by an adult to the child and are personal, gradual and proportionate with the gravity of the violation, and with its repetitiveness.

9.3. Suspension: The Head of School may in his discretion require you to remove or may suspend or, in serious or persistent cases, expel your child from the School if he considers that your child’s attendance, progress or behaviour (including behaviour outside school) is unsatisfactory and in the reasonable opinion of the Head of School the removal is in the School’s best interests or those of your child or other children.

The Head of School may in his discretion exclude you from the campus or require you to remove or may suspend or, in serious or persistent cases, expel your child if the behaviour of you or either of you is, in the opinion of the Head of School, unreasonable and affects or is likely to affect adversely the child’s or other children’s progress at the School or the well-being of School staff or to bring the School into disrepute

Should the Head of School exercise his right under this Clause 9.3 you will not be entitled to any refund or remission of fees or supplemental charges due (whether paid or payable) and the deposit will be forfeited. However, in such circumstances fees in lieu of notice will not be payable and any prepaid fees will be refunded (except for the Application and Registration Fees paid upon enrolment).

The School Code of Conduct and Regulations set out examples of offences likely to be punishable by suspension or expulsion. These examples are not exhaustive, and in particular the Head of School may decide that suspension or expulsion for a lesser offence is justified where there has been previous misbehaviour. All aspects of the pupil’s record at the School may be taken into account.

The School will act in a way which is fair in all the circumstances when taking decisions under this Clause 9.3. The review of serious disciplinary matters is governed by the Complaints Procedure. A copy of the School’s complaint procedure can be supplied on request.

9.4. Suspension Time: In agreement with the Head of School, the Head of the Junior and Senior schools are entitled to suspend a pupil up to one week. The Head of School reserves the right to refuse the readmission of a pupil who has been suspended twice in the current school year. School suspensions for longer than one week will be decided by a disciplinary counsel whose members are as follows:

• the Head of School

• the Head of Junior/Senior School

• the pupil’s class teacher

• two school parent representatives

إذا مارس مدير المدرسة حقه بموجب هذا البند 3-9, لن يحق لك استرداد أو المطالبة بأي رسوم أو رسوم

األعضاء التاليين قرار اإليقاف عن الدراسة لمدة أطول من أسبوع:

10. The Parent and School Partnership

The Swiss International School of Qatar will ensure a strong parent-school partnership. A successful partnership is crucial for your child’s education at the School, and allows us to provide a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the pupils to flourish and develop their knowledge, personalities and understanding of the world around them.

Parents are regularly kept informed of the results and activities of their child, through regular parent evenings and meetings, evaluation booklets and progress reports, end of term and year reports, regular newsletters and updates through email, SMS and telephone communication. The regular progress reports issued during the school year must be returned to the school and signed.

The parents of newly registered children will be invited to a future joiner evening where they will meet their children’s teachers and the School’s senior education team.

During the year, the Head of School and the Heads of the Senior and Junior Schools welcome pupils’ parents during the opening hours of SISQ by appointment. Teachers may meet with the parents of a pupil outside school hours by appointment. Teachers cannot meet parents during classes.

Parents who have been elected as members of the parent committee have a role of intermediary between teachers, the administration and pupils’ parents of the whole school.

يتم إبالغ ولي األمر بشكل منتظم بنتائج وأنشطة طفله، من خالل أمسيات واجتماعات أولياء األمور المنتظمة, وكتيبات

التقييم, وتقارير التقدم, وتقارير نهاية الفصل الدراسي والسنة، والنشرات اإلخبارية المنتظمة, والتحديثات عبر البريد

اإللكتروني، والرسائل القصيرة, واالتصاالت الهاتفية. يجب أن ترد تقارير التقدم التي تصدر خالل العام الدراسي إلى

المدرسة بعد توقيعها.

المدرسة عن طريق تحديد موعد مسبق. وال يمكن أن يقابل المعلمين أولياء األمور أثناء تقديم الدروس.

ويلعب أولياء األمور الذين تم انتخابهم أعضاًء في لجنة أولياء األمور دور الوساطة بين المعلمين واإلدارة وأولياء أمور

التالميذ في المدرسة بأكملها.


11. General Contractual Agreements 11.1. Events beyond the control of the parties: In

this agreement “force majeure” shall mean any cause beyond a party’s control (including for the avoidance of doubt strikes, other industrial disputes, act of God, war, riot, civil commotion, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation or direction (including that of a local authority), accident, fire, flood, storm, pandemic or epidemic of any disease, terrorist attack, chemical or biological contamination) rendering the performance of the obligation or obligations contained in this agreement impossible.

Notification: If either the School or the Parents is prevented from or delayed in carrying out its contractual obligations by a Force Majeure Event, it shall immediately notify the other in writing and shall be excused from performing those obligations while the Force Majeure Event continues.

Continued force majeure: If a Force Majeure Event continues for a period greater than 90 days, the party who has provided notification under Clause 11.1 shall notify the other of the steps to be taken to ensure performance of its contractual obligations.

Termination: If the Force Majeure Event continues for a total period greater than 120 days, the party in receipt of notification under Clause 11.1 may terminate this contract by providing at least three working days’ notice in writing to the other party.

11.2. Data protection: By signing the acceptance form or by agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions the parents on behalf of themselves and so far as they are able on behalf of the child authorise the School to process personal information including financial, biometric and sensitive personal information as is deemed necessary for the legitimate purposes of the School.

لمدة تزيد عن 90 يومًا، يجب على الطرف الذي قدم إخطارا بموجب البند 11-1 أن يخطر الطرف اآلخر

بالخطوات التي يجب اتخاذها لضمان أداء التزاماته التعاقدية.

إنهاء العقد: اذا استمرت القوة القاهرة لمدة تزيد

عن إجمالي 120 يومًا، يجوز للطرف الذي تلقى اإلخطار بموجب البند 11-1 أن ينهي هذا العقد بتقديم إخطار

كتابي مدته ثالثة أيام عمل على األقل إلى الطرف اآلخر.

حامية البيانات: بالتوقيع على استمارة القبول أو . 11.2

بالموافقة على االلتزام بهذه الشروط واألحكام, يفوض أولياء األمور نيابة عن أنفسهم, وكلما تمكنوا نيابة عن

وبين المدرسة للقانون القطري. وتتفق معنا على الخضوع لجهة االختصاص الحصري للمحاكم القطرية.

11.3. Change: The School, as any other, is likely to undergo a number of changes during the period of this agreement. For example, there may be changes in the staff, and in the premises, facilities and their use, in the curriculum and the size and composition of classes, and in the School rules and procedures, the disciplinary framework, and the length of School Terms. In addition, there may be the need to undertake a corporate reorganisation exercise and / or a merger or change of ownership may be necessary. For these reasons, the benefit and burden of this agreement may be freely assigned to another party at the discretion of the School.

11.4. Interpretation: These Terms and Conditions supersede those previously in force and will be construed as a whole. Headings, unless required to make sense of the immediate context, are for ease of reading only and are not otherwise part of the terms and conditions.

11.5. Variations: We may amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time in compliance with applicable law. The School will send you notice of any such amendments before the amendments are to take effect.

11.6. Jurisdiction: The contract between you and the School is governed by Qatari Law. You agree with us to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Qatari courts.

12. Parent Declaration and Consent

All notices required to be given under these Terms and Conditions must be given in writing. You undertake to notify the School of any change of address of any person who has signed the Acceptance Form. Communications (including notices) will be sent by the School to the address shown in its records. Notices that you are required to give under these Terms and Conditions must be addressed to the School Office and sent to the School’s address in Doha. If notice is sent by registered mail it will be deemed to be effective on the date of which it has been received.
