Conferences and Symposia Second European Symposium "Vacuum " THE Deutscher Arbeitskreis Vakuum (DAV), sponsored by DECHEMA Deutsche Gesellschaft fur chemisches Apparate- wesen, Nachrichtentechnische Gesellschaft im VDE (NTG), Verband Deutscher Physikalischer Gesellschaften and Ver- fahrenstechnische Gesellschaft im Verein Deutscher Ingenieure, has arranged the Second European Symposium " Vacuum ", 46th Event of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering, which is to be held on 5-7 June 1963 at Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany. The general subject will be " Physics and Technology of Sorption and Desorption Effects at Low Pressures ". The four themes for discussion are : (a) Phenomena of physico-chemical interactions of gases or vapours and solid material: sorption, desorption, solu- bility and diffusion ; (b) Partial pressure measurements and suitable meters ; (c) Techniques and applications : application of sorption to achieve low pressures, and preparation and degassing of single components and complete vacuum installations under special consideration of the partial pressure analysis ; and (d) Sorption and desorption in special equipments such as particle accelerators, fusion equipments and space chambers. Conference on Vacuum Metallurgy Tim Vacuum Metallurgy Section of the American Vacuum Society announces a two-day Conference on Vacuum Metallurgy to be held at the Sheraton-Motor Inn, New York City, 17-18 June 1963. The conference theme will be " Process and Extractive Metallurgy ". The programme chairman is Dr. A. M. Aksoy, Crucible Steel Company of America, P.O. Box 977, Syracuse, New York. Tenth Annual Symposium of The American Vacuum Society THE American Vacuum Society will hold its Tenth Annual Symposium at the Statler Hilton Hotel, Boston, 16, 17 and 18 October 1963. Exhibits of high-vacuum equipment and instruments will be featured. The Society invites the submission of papers involving high vacuum and its applica- tion ; abstracts of not more than 100 words in length should he submitted to the programme chairman, Dr. George H. Tim Vacuum Metallurgy Section of the American Vacuum Society announces a two-day Conference on Vacuum Metallurgy to be held at the Sheraton-Motor Inn, New York City, 17-18 June 1963.
