Today the EYP is one of the largest European platforms for political debate, intercultural encounters, European civic education and the exchange of ideas among young people in Europe. The EYP network is present in 41 European countries, where thousands of young people are active as volunteers. The entire network organizes over 350 events every year.EYP is a program for young people, run by young people. We are proud to have over 1700 active volunteers all over Europe, running EYP’s National Committees, organizing events, chairing committees, acting as Session journalists, in short, being the heart and soul of EYP and the reason for its existence.

The EYP is an independent educational program for young European citizens. The EYP conceived in 1987 and since this time hundreds of young people have taken part in regional, national and international session, formed friendships and made international contacts across and beyond borders. My name is Teymur. I’m 18 years old and I live in Baku. I graduated from Baku European Lyceum and now I am studying in Azerbaijan Tourism Institute. I can say that I am very lucky in my life, because I am always surrounded by great people who always bring something new to my life. I was an exchange student for 3 times and I find it was a huge experience. I am a movie director. I write scripts and film short films. This is the greatest thing on Earth for me. I got in EYP a year ago and took part in a National Selection Conference and it was so good so I decided to join this year as Editor. I think, that creating such conferences and sessions as EYP has a very positive effect on the youth, so if you want to have a brighter imagination and be able to think critically, this is a great opportunity to learn so much more. Join EYP Azerbaijan!

For me, EYP is a great chance for young people as we, to express our come together, discuss what really matters for us, and propose our ideas to other European institutions. If I was told to describe EYP in 3 phrases, it would be: new friends, new cultures, new ideas.

Committee on Transport and Tourism

Chairs: Tayfun Qudratli (President) & Aykhan

Tourism in Azerbaijan has been always popular starting from ancient times and nowadays. Due to the good geographic location during ancient and medieval ages, Azerbaijan was the hub for transportation of goods and people. Modern Azerbaijan has become famous abroad for modern art, fascinating buildings, beautiful landscapes and culture; hence is visited by a number of tourists. What is more, country’s oil revenue foster economic activity and attract many international business companies.

You may ask why did we call our newspaper “Telescope”. The main purpose of a “Telescope” is to gather EYP’s important moments and interesting facts.Although, we are not always next to you, we see everything in all details. We are always “beside” you, even when we stay on the far distance. And the main reason to be a telescope is opportunity to be in touch with such interesting and smart delegates and being a part of, obviously, the best event for youth people.

Why did we call our newspaper “Telescope”?

Page 6: Telescope

However, it does not mean that tourism sector in Azerbaijan is efficient, that is why, committee on Transport and Tourism at 3rd National Selection Conference of EYP Azerbaijan gathered to give the suggestions of youth in order to resolve problems arising in this sector.

President of the Conference, Mr. Tayfun Qudratli and Aykhan are co-charing TRAN. As it is known, in order to solve the hard tasks, team should be composed of really dedicated and friendly members. This is what I have felt during the first meetings of TRAN. Delegates are so much into to the topic and so much dedicated that they even refused to play games during committee work since they are enjoying the process of discussion. I think this shows the professionalism of delegates of TRAN as well as the huge experience and preparation of chairs.

During the first day committee members played different games during teambuilding, and this gave delegates the chance to know each other better and agree upon the way they are going to solve moments and make decisions during tough times at committee work. At the second day of the conference, delegates discussed the topic of TRAN and came up with a number of problems, which should be fixed for making tourism and transportation in Azerbaijan efficient.

Some of the problems, which delegates came up with should be noted. First of all, TRAN members argue right that Azerbaijan has a great intercultural potential due to so many ethnicities believing in different religions, who live there. In other countries, multiculturalism and the land of a number of religions would be the main promotional campaign for countries. In contrast, this fact is not wisely used by tourism agencies of Azerbaijan. Another problem, which delegates found out, is the fact that prices for tourism attractions and infrastructure are too high while the quality of these places is not as good as in neighboring countries. Thirdly, delegates argued that there is a monopoly in this field, which decreases the efficiency of functioning of the tourism sector. What is more, inefficiency of tourism also affects the environment in the way that the pollution of the Caspian Sea increases as well as environment is damaged hardly by creating new tourism attractions and infrastructure.

As the journalist of TRAN, I have seen in the process how much effort delegates put to the committee work, and I wish them good luck at General Assembly. Mahammad Ibrahimov

The question of protection the confidential information and personal data on the Internet today is worth more than ever. Anyone who carries out daily electronic processing of personal data through the use of portable devices, computers, servers, Internet resources are at risk of information theft and cyber-attacks.Loss or leakage of personal data can lead to irreparable consequences. I take part in 3rd National Selection Conference of European Youth Parliament as a journalist of LIBE commitee and this issue was their question of discussion.Since the very beginning of the discussion there was a sharp dispute between delegates and even those who were late very quickly involved in the discussion process. It was very interesting to listen to different ideas, even those who don’t understand the topic a bit. Delegates were deeply intrigued in the discussion. Ruslan Mursagulov, The Chair of the comity, was very professional as a director of the group and everyone was following him and his ideas as they were coming up with their own. Then the guys (delegates) began to look for ways to solve the problem of the leakage of personal data. There were a lot of different solutions, many of which were valuable and useful. But as they were doing some active ideological battles, a lot of funny games and energizers also took part. These games helped them to relax from the topic and know each other well. At the end I want to add, that EYP gives a huge experience for people interested in different political and social issue and problems of the world. Plus, I got to know a lot of new people from different backgrounds with various views. Thanks for such great memories.

First of all I want to speak about the atmosphere all around the team, its so friendly and warm, guys are open minded and close to each other because the everyone in group are very friendly, bright and very smart guys. The committed work was looks very fine, the discussion went very interesting. Having “golden rules” like: respect each other, talk one by one, stay active and e.t.c. shows how fine chair prepare against noise and some other fact, which could be a reason of chaos. And as expected the group works very shipshape and it is caused of the quality of the solving the problem. The problem, the teams work on, was “taking into account the juvenile marriages as a tradition in Southern Caucasus, what measures should be taken to prevent negative effects of them?”Really very actual problem nowadays, because it may cause many problems in future, and it very important to care about the new families, in fact the future of all humanity depends on them as well.

So there was many suggestions about how to save the “future” and not let mistake on marriage. It includes such problems as early marriages, why girls sometime see the marriage as an hope to start a new life ( family problems), is it important to have an advanced education for girls, marriages with cousins, and is it right to have an strong rules at family by man and e.t.c. everyone have their own opinion and many interesting ideas, and measures was giving from each, as the theme is really interesting but hard to be solved even discussed, the LIBE well done their mission, and get many helpful for their own, get information that maybe helps them in future, And you know, I never imagine that the one theme could include such wide understandings, many historical facts, took place there so actually it is sometimes go to politics and show business also. All guys was full of ideas and very nice could express their mind and suggestionsGuess all of members of team I work in, will be a great persons as they are very talented! My impressions about the LIBE- very polite and very nice, smart people, love their work, and respect their opinion, that the reason of the brilliance suggestions. It is clear that speaking non-

Page 9: Telescope

stop is getting boring and everyone gets tired, so telling some joke or doing something out of theme was important part of discussion. The team does very well, I love them.
