    TECHNICAL INFORMATION

    Flow measurement device

    CIM 3723B

    Description

    Cim 3723B is a flow measurement device, wafer

    type, with fixed orifice, assuring high accuracy

    in differential pressure and relevant flow rate

    measurement.

    Cim 3723B is made of stainless steel AISI 304

    with dimensions suitable for its installation

    between flanges according to BS EN 1092.

    Cim 3723B is suitable for heating and cooling

    installation, with working pressure up to 16 bar,within the working temperature range -10C up to

    +120C.

    The main features ofCim 3723B are the following:

    Possible installation with a balancing valve;

    High accuracy flow rate reading, within 5% of nominal value, regardless of valve setting.

    Made according to BS 7350 standard;

    Two binder points allowing connection to a differential manometer.

    Installation procedure

    Before installation ofCim 3723B, check that inside the valve and the pipes there is no foreign matters which

    might damage the tightness of binder points or cause turbulences to the water flow, preventing high

    accuracy signal reading.

    When installing the flow measurement device, please make sure to have a pipe length 5 times the DN

    upstream the valve and pay attention to the arrow direction casted on the valve body, which shall be the

    same as the flow one. The valve shall be installed with binder point upstream and blue one downstream.

    To regulate flow rate, Cim 3723B can be coupled with a balancing valve; in this case, it shall be screwed on

    the inlet screwed end of said valve. IfCim 3723B is installed by itself and not with a regulating valve, make

    sure to have downstream a pipe length 2 times the DN.

    J oints between valve and flanges shall be perfect and suitable for the working conditions required. During

    installation, check that flange and relevant joint are coaxial, to avoid any water bore reduction. Tighten nuts

    progressively and in a crossed way (first one nut and secondly the one diametrically opposite), in order to

    avoid any bending to flanges.

    If installed horizontally, Cim 3723B should have binder points faced up at 45 to avoid any deposit, which

    might block holes of binder points. In case of ceiling installation, and consequently with no possibility of such

    assembling (lack of enough room for sensors insertion), Cim 3723B can be installed with binder points

    downward, but always at 45. If Cim 3723B is installed vertically, all positions are accepted, but always

    taking into account the connection to a differential manometer: the insertion of sensors of this manometer

    needs at least 100mm of free area along the axe of each binder point.

    Binder points are supplied disassembled from the valve. Screw the extensions with a key acting on themilled surfaces; fix binder points at the end of said extension and make sure that binder point with red strap

    is assembled upwards. For assembly purposes, use a suitable tightening material.

    For high accuracy reading of differential pressure, release possible air inside the installation.

    Differential pressure and flow rate reading

    Unscrew the plugs of binder points placed on the fixed orifice ends of the valve and insert the sensors of

    differential manometer Cim 726, pressing the measuring needles until the perforation of tightening rubber.

    The colour of binder point straps means the following:

    Red strap: the value registered in this point means the upstream pressure of fixed orifice;

    Blue strap: the value registered in this point means the downstream pressure of fixed orifice.

    IfCim 726 device is not available, differential pressures and relevant flow rate can be read in the diagrams

    reported on following pages (see Graphs and Tables).

    When measuring is over, remove measuring needles carefully, for some splash of water might come out.

    Replace the plugs of binder points.

    Maintenance

    As a rule, the flow measurement device Cim 3723B does not need any maintenance. In case of

    replacement or need of disassembling of some components of the valve, make sure that the installation is

    not under service or pressure.

    The following table shows the dimensions of the full range ofCim 3723B.
