Revised 10/11/13 TEAS TEST FAQs 1. What is the TEAS Test? TEAS is an acronym for the Test of Essential Academic Skills. It is a computer based test that is required to apply to the FKCC Nursing Program. FKCC is currently accepting Version 5. 2. What is on the TEAS Test? The TEAS consists of four required sections: Reading, Math, Science, English 3. How long is the test? The TEAS Test is a timed 3 ½ hour test with 170 questions. 4. How much does it cost to take the TEAS test? $60 if taken at FKCC 5. Why do I need to take the TEAS test? The TEAS Test is required in order to apply to the nursing program at FKCC. All students applying to the nursing program must successfully pass with an average overall score of 70% or higher. Applications submitted without a TEAS TEST score will be considered incomplete. 6. How many times can I take the TEAS Test? The TEAS test can be taken (2x) twice within (1) one calendar year. 7. Where can I take the TEAS Test? FKCC offers testing at our Key West, Middle and Upper Keys campuses. There are a limited number of candidates who are able to sit for the test at each location on each testing date. 1. What is the TEAS Test?

TEAS is an acronym for the Test of Essential Academic Skills. It is a computer based test that is required to

apply to the FKCC Nursing Program. FKCC is currently accepting Version 5.

2. What is on the TEAS Test?

The TEAS consists of four required sections: Reading, Math, Science, English

3. How long is the test?

9. Can I use a calculator on the TEAS Test?

No, you may not use a calculator. Test takers will be provided a pencil and scratch paper from the test

administrator.

10. What do I need to do to take the TEAS Test?

1. SCHEDULE

a. Review the TEAS Test dates posted on the Nursing website

b. Call the department of Community Education at 305-809-3185 to make an

appointment to take the TEAS Test

2. CREATE A LOGIN*

a. Create a Username and Password

i. Log onto www.atitesting.com

ii. Write it down and bring both username and password with you on date

of testing

3. PREPARE (recommended)

a. Order a study guide and/or online practice test to prepare through

www.atitesting.com

4. TEST DAY

a. Arrive 15 minutes prior to exam time

b. Bring valid driver’s license or passport or government ID

c. Bring $60 TEAS Test fee (cash, check or credit card)

d. Bring username and password created through www.atitesting.com

5. BELONGINGS

a. Leave all personal items in car, as they will not be allowed in testing center

6. FINISHED

a. Once you have completed the exam your results will be immediately calculated

and printed

b. A 70% or higher is considered passing

If you have specific questions regarding the Nursing Program or the Nursing Application packet, please

contact the Nursing Department at 305-809-3268.

*Creating an ATI Username and Password before Scheduled TEAS Test Date

1. Go to www.atitesting.com and click on ‘Create a New Account’

2. Enter information, only blue bold items are required

a. Under ‘Institution’ select ‘FL Keys CC’

b. If you have a ‘Student ID’ enter it beginning with 9000…

c. If you do not have a ‘Student ID’ enter your social security number

d. Check ‘Non Degree Seeking (once admitted into nursing program this can be updated)

3. Once the information is filled in scroll to bottom of page and click on ‘Register’ at the bottom of the

page

4. Write down your personal username and password and bring with you on your testing date (this is

very important because this is how you access your TEAS Test along with any future nursing exams)
