Objectives

Based on quantitative and qualitative data collected from numerous sources, we will assess the relative effectiveness and efficiency of various tools and practices in enhancing the professional development of educators in the context of face-to-face training, online tutorials, and Help Desk support.

The goal is that other professionals will have guidelines within which to focus their efforts and plan:

1. How much time/money to invest in tutorials;

2. How effective face to face training is;

3. What topics to address in training.

Extraordinary tool to enhance learning, in a

dynamic and interactive way. Exciting expectation.

Excellent initiative. Innovative and dynamic tool. Will speed

up many procedures and flows. Transmits reliability and give more transparency to all. The school is to be congratulated.

I will be a Blackboard "heavy-user" and I will be

able to improve the course, proposing and

using new ways of interaction.

I hope that Blackboard is a tool to narrow the professor-student relationship, facilitates interaction and allow greater agility and security for learning, assessment and contact with the teacher.

I hope that the relationship between the virtual environment and professor become more intense, considering the possibilities of interaction that I witnessed.

Extend the activities dynamics employed in the

courses and reduce the time used for monitoring

and giving feedback to students.

Increase collaboration between students and

simplify the operational work of the Professor.

I hope it can help me increase the student time of study outside

the classroom.

What are your expectations regarding the use of Blackboard?

Dos and Don’ts

Page 27: Teacher training – which practices are worth the effort?

27

Answering Questions

1. How much time/money to invest in tutorials?

• Professors don’t access it very frequently;

• They only access what they need – straight to the point;

• In our case, tutorials are support-only material used after the training.

• It may be simpler;

• Updates may be easier;

• Online training, must have a more ellaborate course material is expected.

• Motiongraphics;

• Voice Over;

• Screencapture, etc.

Page 28: Teacher training – which practices are worth the effort?

28

Answering Questions

2. How effective face to face training is?

• How to measure it?• Help Desk

• Few tickets opened• Mostly made by the same

professors

• Actual use• They are using essentials tools

• Professors consider the plataform a really important tool for their work

Page 29: Teacher training – which practices are worth the effort?

29

Answering Questions

3. What topics to address in training?

• If you are going through a system migration, make sure you’re exploring all similar features

• Focus on Essential Toolso If the Faculty can be grouped

according to different needs, go ahead and do it

• We had a very good feedback with our survey. All topics were well rated (content, depth and structure)

Next steps

Page 32: Teacher training – which practices are worth the effort?

32

• Contact will happen right on the begining of the process;

• He will work on the Syllabus bearing Blackboard in mind.

What to do next?

New Professors

Page 33: Teacher training – which practices are worth the effort?

33

• Add Blackboard’s materials (On Demand) as an alternate source of information;

• Probably develop a new working-model where online training could be added as an option.
