Introduction The goal of this book is to help you find the easiest way to get plenty of fruits and vegetables. Eating a salad at night and a grapefruit for breakfast is not the type of diet you need to re-mineralize your body. People think of diets as starvation and controlling portions, but with a diet that is robust in fruits and veggies, you can eat as much as you want and as often as you want. There are some really good documentaries that have come out about raw fruits and vegetables and juicing or smoothies. Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead is an amazing example of someone that went 2 months on eating fruits and vegetables and lost 82 lbs! Because this diet is not about restriction, you don't have to worry about the people that say starvation diets are dangerous.

It is recommended that women eat 1,800 calories a day and men up to 2,500. However, the average American eats between 3,000-4,000 calories when their diet includes frequent fast food or restaurant dining. What's even more shocking is that most people have no idea the amount of calories they eat and would be shocked to see the actual numbers. Also understand that the 3,000-4,000 calories of the modern American diet is made up of empty calories. Empty calories do not help your body build strength and vibrant health. Instead, these calories will tear down your organs and your body system slowly over time.

Things to Know Before You Begin You can use a juicer or blender for these recipes. If you are using a blender, then I recommend buying a nut milk bag or jelly straining bag. It's an extra step but I find myself blending much more than juicing these days. I use a mesh bag for washing produce to strain my juices so I still am able to get some of the seeds and pulp into my juice. If you are new to juicing, you do not need fancy equipment. Make sure that juicing and blending is something you can commit to before spending a lot of money. There are top of the line juicers and blenders like Breville, Omega, or Vitamix. In the resources section of this book, I will put in the machines and tools I recommend to make your life

easier and save you from wasting money on gimmicks that don't really work. I think I've owned just about everything from cheap to expensive through my 15+ years juicing and there are my kitchen gadgets I wouldn't want to live without. I will give you my low priced loves as well as my high priced necessities.

Working with Your Blending Bag If you blend instead of juicing, put your produce in your blender and blend for a few minutes. Take a large bowl and your straining bag. Pour the juice into your straining bag that sits over the bowl. Twist the top of your bag and slowly knead, squish and rub the contents inside the bag. Massage the pulp to get out all of the juice. When the juice is removed, you will have the pulp left inside the bag. The fiber pulp can be used in making breads, crackers and cookies. Put on hand inside the bag and with the other hand, act like you are washing your hands (even though you have a bag on one hand) under running water. This will quickly and easily clean your bag. Allow to air dry on a rack.

Picking Your Fruit and Veggies (And Cleaning)

Make sure your produce is ripe. People have run into digestive problems when they eat high amounts of unripe fruit.

Buy organic when you can, especially for the dirty dozen. The dirty dozen includes produce that is the most often tainted by pesticides and herbicides that may even affect it even after peeling. These will be the fruits and vegetables you want to buy organic. Here is a slightly expanded list to include the Dirty Fourteen (I know it just doesn’t have the same ring!):

• Bell Peppers

• Tomatoes and Cherry Tomatoes

• Cucumber

• Potatoes

• Hot peppers Even if your produce is organic, still soak it before you use it. Organic or not, your produce was probably grown in manure, had numerous bugs on it, parasites, bacteria, been packed with anti-fungal mats, been exposed to people's hands from the picking, to packing, to shipping, to just being on the store shelf.

Use 1 Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 drop of Grapefruit seed extract to 3 cups of water. Swish the water to mix it well and add your produce. Let sit for 5 minutes. After the soaking, take a soft bristle brush and do a quick scrub of your produce, yes even if you are going to peel your produce before juicing or blending. The salmonella scares in produce always happen when proper produce cleaning has not been used. Plus, soak and scrubbing does even remove pesticides and herbicides to a certain degree, which is important when using non-organic produce. Most nutrients are often found in the peels and the seeds, except for citrus, there is no need to peel or cut out the seeds of your produce first.

Extra Tips Only buy the exact amount of produce that you need for juicing. Let's face it; junk food is much cheaper than healthy food and produce. If you have to throw away unused produce that has gone bad, you will begin to dread the grocery bill on your next several shopping trips. You may also be introduced to foods you have never eaten before. It is important to know if you like something before you buy a bunch of it. Many people have never tasted raw beets. Some people think the taste is amazing and others are repelled by the taste. Get to know what produce and juice combinations work for you and plan your grocery shopping around that. There are large amounts of sugar in fruit. I don't buy into the theory that fruit sugar in it's natural state is bad for the body. I've seen too many people thrive on a high fruit diet that have amazing blood work to agree with the allopathic community on this one. Processed and refined sugar is what is dangerous. I do recommend limiting the amount (or avoid it altogether) of processed sugar in your diet while you are juicing. Work on whole meals and not processed foods and sweets. Whether you want to detox, lose weight, or gain better health, you won't achieve these by eating an unhealthy diet. You will need to eliminate the junk from your diet. Remember the quote, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, while expecting a different result.” If you want a different outcome than what you have been living, you will need to make some changes that will give you the outcome

you want. Keep a small notebook of the recipes that you love. I guarantee you will run across hundreds and you will probably forget a few of your favorites. Keeping a journey ensures that you are able to easily

Recipes

Spicy Pineapple Soothing Juice ½ cup Pure Spring Water 1 cup of pineapple 1 small orange (peeled) ½ cup of radish 1 cucumber Blend or juice everything together. Serve chilled or over ice if desired.

This is a wonderfully detoxifying drink. Besides the detoxifying effect of this juicy tonic, pineapple

has enzymes that will help fight inflammation and break down scar tissue in the body. Oranges provide your body the nutrition to rebuild tissue as well as increases oxygen uptake in your body.

Radishes are cleansing to the colon and cucumber will further soothe inflammation and the skin on the cucumber is loaded with silica which will give you healthy skin, strong, shiny hair, and strong nails.

Coconut Watermelon Blast

• 2 cups coconut water • 2 cups watermelon

• ½ handful of mint

• ½ handful of basil

• 1 lime (peeled)

• ¼ of jalapeno for a touch of spiciness To get coconut water, chop a square in the top of a Thai coconut and use the water inside. If you would like to use one of the brown coconuts, there are 3 eyes on the coconut. One of the eyes will be soft enough to easily poke a hole into with a metal skewer or screwdriver. Drain the juice and set aside. Juice the watermelon with the basil and mint. Then juice the lime and jalapeno together. Mix everything together with the coconut water. This juice is extra hydrating to allow cellular waste, debris and toxins to be flushed out of your system.

I wish I had more space to sing the praises of coconut water. Coconut water is the best way to

rehydrate yourself, especially when you need electrolytes. Watermelon is rich in Lycopene and the

Citrulline converts to Arginine, which makes this a powerful heart healthy fruit. The arginine is what

has people call watermelon a fruity Viagra. Mint increases digestion and basil is an anti-inflammatory

that actually block enzymes in your body that causes swelling. Lime is detoxing and rich in enzymes

and the capsaicin in the jalapeno is also good for your heart and increases your fat loss.

V6 Zing

2 celery stalk 1 ½ handful of spinach 3 tomatoes 1 cucumber 1 clove of garlic ½ lemon (peeled) Juice the tomatoes and spinach together, then juice the garlic and

cucumber. Finish by juicing the rest of the ingredients. Add a touch of Himalayan salt if necessary.

Celery is tonic for your nervous system and boosts your arousal, which all brings your mind and body

to a happier place. Spinach protects your brain which has a positive effect on a balanced nervous system. It also helps to keep skin wrinkle free and naturally moisturized from the inside out. The

potassium citrate in tomatoes helps to lower your blood pressure. Cucumber is rich in vitamin B,

which gives you a quick pick-me-up. Garlic was one of the first fitness and performance enhancing

substances which also helps ward off fatigue and low energy. Lemon is the last in line of this juice to give you a quick zing. Once lemon hits your stomach, it is turned into raw energy, while helping to ward off depression.

Coco Carrot Cleanse

• 1 cup of coconut water • 2 carrots

To get coconut water, chop a square in the top of a Thai coconut and use the water inside. If you would like to use one of the brown coconuts, there are 3 eyes on the coconut. One of the eyes will be soft enough to easily poke a hole into with a metal skewer or screwdriver. Drain the juice and set aside. Juice the carrots and add to the coconut water. Serve chilled if desired.

Coconut water is high in fiber so it will help cleanse your colon. Giving your body the hydration and electrolytes it needs will not only balance your hormones, but will allow your body to start dumping

toxins and waste it has been holding on to. The Vitamin A in carrots is wonderful to help to detox the liver. It also helps to eliminate the old bile and fat in and around your liver. Vitamin A is a powerful anti-aging vitamin.

Strawberry Sunrise 2 handfuls of strawberries 2 oranges ½ beet 1 carrots 1 apple Juice the beet first. Juice the rest of the ingredients. Mix everything well and put in the refrigerator for 10 minutes or until slightly chilled, then enjoy.

Strawberries are powerful liver and blood cleansers. Orange juice contains

powerful antioxidants that kill bacteria and fungi. Oranges, like strawberries, are rich in vitamin C.

Our bodies need vitamin C to detoxify and rebuild properly. Beets give you extra energy by being a strong blood and liver cleanser. . If you suffer from a fatty liver, you will reap the benefits of adding

carrots to your juice. The vitamin A in carrots helps to keep your skin youthful. Apples will help to soften cholesterol and bile stones in your liver.

Pom Booster

• Seeds from one pomegranate

• 25 green grapes

• 25 black grapes (with seeds if you can find them)

• 10 strawberries Juice everything together. This is one detox drink to add back in some of the pulp and seeds left over after the juice is extracted. The skin and seeds of grapes contain powerful medicine for your body. Some people prefer their berry juices colder so serve over ice or chill in the fridge before drinking.

Pomegranates help fight plaque buildup in your arteries. But that’s not all, it also helps fight and prevent plaque on your teeth. Pregnant women should also be adding pom seeds to their diet because a recent studied showed that eating pomegranates during the 3rd trimester will help protect baby’s brain

during a traumatic birth. Grapes are one of the most detoxifying fruits on the planet. They work well

in cleansing your entire body. Fresh grape juice is a powerful remedy for migraines. Dark grapes

active an enzyme in your body called Sir2 which has proven to help extend your life. Strawberries have many anti-cancer properties. They also will help whiten your teeth.

Green Apple Stone Blaster

1 cup of baby kale 2 Granny Smith Apples 1 cucumber ½ lime (peeled) 2 inch piece of ginger root Juice the kale with the apples, then the ginger root. Next juice the rest of the

ingredients. This is a great juice to be served in the morning or when you need a pick me up.

Kale not only blocks H. pylori for forming, it also aids in detoxification of phase I and II. Magnesium

in apples helps to gently cleanse your colon. Green apples help to prevent gallbladder stone

formation. The vitamin C in cucumber helps your body to process excess fat. Lime juice can help

prevent kidney stones. Ginger helps to protect the liver by restoring liver function and breaking down scarring in the liver.

Blueberry Lavender Lemonade Fat Blast

• 1 handful of blueberries

• 3 inch piece of aloe that has been filleted (outer skin removed)

• 3 lemons (peeled)

• 1 cup of Spring water

• a pinch of lavender flowers or dip the tip of a toothpick in food grade lavender oil Juice the blueberries and the aloe with the lemons. Add to the water. Add the lavender. Enjoy chilled.

Blueberries are good for an underactive thyroid and will help blast belly fat. Aloe vera not only cleanses your colon but it reigns supreme in controlling blood sugar which also helps to reduce weight

and even stop weight gain. A diet high in acidic foods will cause weight gain, while lemons appear acidic, they are actually alkalinizing to your body which will help with fat loss. Drinking a lot of pure

spring water has been proven to help your body release stored fat. Lavender is a natural bloat buster which will help you button your jeans with ease.

Green Brain Goodness

1 carrot 1 green bell pepper 1 cucumber ½ cup of cilantro 2 celery stalks Juice the cilantro with the cucumber, then juice the rest of the ingredients. While the color may be off putting to some, there is no denying the health and energy benefits of green juices.

Even though carrots have a higher sugar content, they are actually wonderful at balancing blood sugar.

Carrot juice closely resembles our own blood, so carrots are powerful in preventing anemia. Green

peppers help to keep homocysteine levels low in the body, which reduces the risk of having major

diseases like heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, cancers, and Alzheimer's. Cucumber has been shown to

protect the memory centers of the brain. Eating cilantro daily helps to remove mercury, lead, and

arsenic from your body. Celery is one of the best vegetables to remove edema and acts to cleanse your bowels.

Cranberry Cleanser

• 1 cup of cranberries

• 2 apples

• 1 lemon (peeled)

• 1 cup of fresh Spring water

• 1 Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar Juice the cranberries, lemon and apples. Add to the water. Mix in 1 Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Stir well. This is a great cleanse recipe that will help detox your kidneys and lose weight.

Cranberries help to restore your valuable stomach acid. They also help protect against kidney stones, kill the bacteria that causes bladder infections and will help to remove plaque build-up on your teeth.

The pectin in apples help to improve and heal digestive issues. Lemons will help break down cysts

and fatty tumors. Pure spring water ensures that you are moving toxins out of your body. Apple

Cider Vinegar will stimulate your waste removal system and help to detoxify your liver, while leaving you with glowing skin and shiny hair.

Conclusion

I hope that you have added these recipes to your health journey so that you can reap all the benefits that juicing holds for you. Be open to trying new things, even if the juice itself is not a color you like. It is amazing how some tastes come together to make something amazing. Other times, you wish you would have skipped the taste of something altogether. I didn't include any recipes containing cabbage or broccoli for that reason. They are so good extremely fresh but when they begin to break down, it is a taste and smell you wish you never experienced! Make sure you plan everything ahead of time and carry some healthy fruits and vegetables with you in case hunger strikes. One thing that you will find is that if you are drinking enough juice (remember, there is no limit because you are feasting and not fasting) you will not be hungry at all. It is amazing how a small amount of juice can make you feel full, while a huge plate of food in a popular restaurant often leaves you wanting more. This is the power of raw food nutrition. Continue to drink water throughout the day, even though you are juicing. If you are not currently drinking water, add it in. Your body needs water. Shoot for 2 Quarts a day and increase from there once your body adjusts. Staying hydrated often gives you extra energy, makes your skin glow, and helps you to easily shed excess weight.

Machines and Tools I Recommend (and Use!) To start off on your juicing journey:

• You can buy the Waring Pro JEX328 Health Juice Extractor for around $50.

• or a blender, I recommend: Magic Bullet NutriBullet Pro 900 Series Blender. Around $130 (The Pro 900 has a 900 watt motor. I like the extra power. They do make a unit with a 600 watt motor that is a little less expensive, around $90 or so: Magic Bullet 600w ). I DO NOT recommend the cheapest model (around $50) because it only has a 250w motor. You’ll burn it up in no time if you use it regularly. Get one of the stronger models, you’ll be happer).

• Juicing Bag: Nut Milk Bag Around $10 or so.

• Produce Cleaning Brush: Chef’n PalmBrush .Around $7. When you get serious about juicing and detox:

• I recommend the Omega J8006 Masticating Juicer, around $240. This thing is a powerful monster! Works great and gets every drop of juice out of your fruits & veggies. Expensive, but worth it if you decide to get serious.

• For an awesome and powerful blender, I absolutely love the Vitamix. I heard that in one of the demonstrations they put a piece of lumber into this thing and then turn it to sawdust in just a few seconds. I’ve never done that with mine, but I can promise you that this machine will make quick work of just about any fruit or vegetable you put into it, seeds and all! Are you going to get serious about detoxing? Then buy a Vitamix.
