4 OSTEOPATHIC MEDICAL CONFERENCE & EXPOSITION
From The Program Chair
With the daily pressures physicians face at every stage of their careers, osteopathic physicians are called upon to do more—serve more patients, pursue more research, teach more medical students and mentor more residents. OMED 2016 is designed to help you meet these demands as well as provide time out to balance your own mind, body and spirit.
Now is the time to renew and unite with colleagues to ensure individual success as a physician, enhance the well-being of patients, and advance the profession as a whole.
Check out the following pages and links in this Digital OMED program to see all the activities set for OMED 2016. As our program continues to grow, we will be sending you periodic updates via this program to keep you informed about all of the latest developments.
I look forward to experiencing OMED 2016 with all of you in Anaheim.

6 OSTEOPATHIC MEDICAL CONFERENCE & EXPOSITION
SATURDAY, SEPT. 17 THROUGH TUESDAY, SEPT. 20
THE LANDSCAPEWith the high demand for doctors, constant disruptions in the health care system and the daily pressures on physicians at every stage of their career, DOs are called upon to do more — serve more patients, pursue more research, teach more medical students and mentor more residents. And as a result, today’s DOs face more pressures and need to be stronger than ever before to meet these demands and excel. Never has there been a time of greater progress, prosperity, and achievement. But with this prosperity comes greater responsibility for the physicians who care for our global society. The numbers are staggering – over 50% of physicians experience professional burnout. To achieve success as a nation, we must first position our physicians for success.
THE OPPORTUNITY Renewal (noun) \ri-ˈnü-əl, -ˈnyü-\: the state of being made new, fresh, or strong again.
Purpose (noun) \̍ pər-pəs\: the reason why something is done or used: the aim or intention of something.
Passion (noun) \̍ pa-shən\: intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction.
As osteopathic medicine pledges, preventive medicine is the key to maintaining a person’s full health. Emotional, physical, spiritual and mental well-being is not a luxury, but are all too often pushed aside as a result of competing pressures, restrictions and demands. Though people renew in various environments, OMED is the only destination where DOs of all specialties and all stages in their career can come together to renew the purpose that drew them to osteopathic medicine and the passion that propels them forward. It’s more than a conference, it’s a respite. OMED 2016 is where DOs come to restore, learn, connect, understand, unite and renew.
REGISTER TODAY AND MAKE THIS YOUR TIME TO RENEW YOUR PURPOSE AND YOUR PASSION.

Anaheim Convention Center In the event of a medical emergency while on-site at the Anaheim Convention Center, the following steps should be followed:
• For serious medical emergencies (cardiac arrest, profuse bleeding, seizures, anaphylactic shock, seizures, etc.), please dial 911. If you are unable to dial out, please dial 8080 from any white house phone. If you are in such area please move immediately to an emergency exit. Remember that elevators and escalators will be available for use during an evacuation. If you are in the lobby level meeting rooms move toward the emergency staircases, located at either end and in the middle of the meeting room.
