LJUBLJANA URBAN REGION
REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY
The Ljubljana Urban Region is a conurbation, intertwined with nature

EU PROJECTS
EU2020Focuses on a transfer of Good Practices among 14 european partners into the Structural Funds programmes of the partner regions. Through regional cooperation the project is intended to contribute to an effective implementation of the EU 2020 strategy at both local and regional levels.
CATCH_MRPromotes sustainable joint transport solutions in Metropolitan Regions by reducing transport without reducing mobility and by increasing the share of environmentally friendly transportation.
CREATIVE CITIESFocuses on creative industry potentials for more competitive & attractive cities. The goal is to establish a transnational network and a joint action plan in the creative industries among the participating Middle European Cities.
POLY5The project aims at making mountain areas catch the opportunities of major transport infrastructure, rather than just suffer their environmental and social impact, targeting the phases of piloting and policy implementation.
RAILHUCRAILHUC aims at enhancing rail transport in the Central Europe regions by improving the feeding functions on rail of major hub cities and their respective territories and fostering functional integration and multimodal cooperation among transport hubs.

TRANSPORT ISSUES
transport a major concern in the region LUR is the main national infrastructure junction Ljubljana is the intersection of two trans-European corridors 130.000 passenger vehicle commuters/day underdeveloped public transport system lack of public awareness of safe, green and smart mobility lack of integrated public transport unrewarding modal split
number of passenger vehicles passengers transported with public road transport
9
LJUBLJANA URBAN REGION
TRANSPORT ISSUES
recent transport development focused mainly on improvement of road infrastructure
consequences: poor mobility of non-motorised users traffic congestions, exceed values of emissions and noise poor traffic safety increasing suburbanisation and urban sprawl

TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS
specific transport issues have already been addresed in several projects:• study on Park & Ride (P+R) transfer nods • analysis on adding an additonal „yellow“ lane for public transport in Ljubljana • introduction of a modern ticketing system for public transport• introduction of a free city bike system• increased number of train stations• analysis on Modern Day Express Lines, which would elavate traffic fluency

TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS IN THE TURAS PROJECT
within the TURaS framework, RDA wants to look at the transport problem from a broader, regional level
the goal: establishment of a GIS portal/database with both graphical and written information regarding two main issues: public transportation flood risk monitoring and assessment
GIS portal as an interactive public participation platform for stakeholder and citizen comments
raising awareness on transport and flood related issues better communication between communities and stakeholders first approach on connecting spatial data on a regional level data included: bottlenecks location, flood – prone roads, roads with increased risk of
landslides, P+R locations, air pollution mapping etc. innovative way of searching for solutions on a higher level

CHANGE OF WP4 ACVITIVITES
Task Objectives as stated in DoW Altered objectives
T4.2 Urban planning and adaptation to flood risk
Establishment of the GIS portal. The regional GIS system will allow monitoring and flood risk assessment as well as propose solutions.
T4.5 Improved climate neutral infrastructure
Establishment of the GIS portal. The GIS portal can be a valuable tool in the field of public transportation – by helping build the vitally needed resilience mobility and steering innovative solutions on the regional scale.
