Syria has a Republican government. Bashar Al-Assad is the president in Syria and is also in charge of Government. The Presidential palace is where the president works, it is located in Damascus, Syria. Damascus is the capital of the country. There is a big conflict going on today between the government and the citizens of Syria the citizens are angry because they are not getting enough political freedom and an end to autocracy. Because of Syria's conflict no countries except Turkey and China would trade with Syria.

Religion and Language

The most common religion in Syria is Islam. There are 12% Shea, 74% Sunni and 9% Christian. The main languages spoken in Syria are Arabic, Syrian Arabic, Armenian and Turkish.

Culture

Syria has very different types of foods. Pita is a bread that is served in most dishes. Kibbe is a very popular dish that is a shell made out of flour and wheat which then is stuffed with meat, fish or vegetables. Soccer is the Major sport in Syria. Syria has classical Syrian music and a very famous band in Syria is called Al-Kindi Ensemble. The major crop in Syria is wheat.
