Purpose
The purpose of this course is to understand a sense of the seasons and
to read some fundamental HAIKU (poems) in Japanese literature.

Students will become able to explain fundamental Haiku poem and their
own HAIKU as well.
Outline
Through understanding a play on words in HAIKU, SENRYU and
TANKA (31 words), and also understanding Hiragana which are wrote
by brush.
As a next step, students are expected to understand Hiragana by
writing brush and try to read and write them by themselves. AS further
activity, students make their own Haiku and drawing or painting their
image of Haiku and understand an artistic side.

Preparation for Study
The old Japanese is frequently used in HAIKU. Students are also expected to look up
the old Japanese words beforehand. Hours of Out-of-Study are 4h/day.
