TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

MARY’S MONTH OF OCTOBER REJOICE IN THIS AUTUMM SEASON – HELP MAKE OUR WORLD MORE BEAUTIFUL

October is so beautiful! We will be surrounded with the rich colored leaves and autumn flowers. It is the beautiful month of Mary and

her precious Rosary. Amidst our ever so busy lives it is important for our well-being that we consciously notice the seasonal

happenings going on all around us. Please don’t miss them. They reflect God’s plan that this be a beautiful world for His people and

for all of His creation.

When we see the beauty God gives our world, we realize hopefully, how important it is that all of us be good stewards of His creation.

It is important that we exercise all our ingenuity to be restrained in using this world’s natural goods so that each generation makes the

world more beautiful and even a better home for future generations. We realize that doing this is a huge economic and technological

challenge and a difficult political question. We are morally obligated to do everything possible as a society to act responsibly.

But beyond this, it is a personal matter. So often we receive good information about how, in our homes and workplaces, we can save

energy and use less fuel. Our children learn about this in school. Every household, every family can help our planet by making our

lives more harmonious with nature and conservation. Doing these things means that we will continue to enjoy beautiful fall seasons

each year. We respect life and we respect all of God’s creation. We aim to fulfill the challenges given to us by both Pope Francis and

Pope Benedict, the “Green” Popes.

Our parish here is fully engaged for the fall season. Just look at this week’s long list of parish activities. Thank God we are able to do

things for Our Lord and for each other. Our parish children in All Saints Academy join with children from Saint Christopher’s and

Saint Ann’s parishes to receive an excellent Catholic education. Our CCD elementary school, middle school and high school youth

ministries engage hundreds of children with the dedicated involvement of dozens of volunteer catechists and aides. Our choirs are

leading the community to praise God more joyously in song. People with special needs and difficulties continue to be served by our

parish staff and many volunteer ministers. Our Evangelization Ministry is sponsoring adult faith formation giving all of us the

opportunity to build up our faith and to invite new people to meet Jesus through the Church. Our RCIA is flourishing with several

young adult people coming closer to Jesus on life’s journey. We are so richly blessed by so many good people serving our parish. I

thank you for your generous support of our parish and diocesan ministries.

God Bless, Father Herb On Monday, October 10

th, Columbus Day Observance, we will celebrate one Mass only at 9:00 AM in the Daily Chapel.

The Rectory Office will be closed.

WORDS OF TITHING FROM THE PEWS:

From the Pastor: Many thanks to our Tithers who are

returning to God some of His great goodness. It’s a special

way to put God first in our lives.

Words of Tithing from the Pews: I thank those people who

helped me see that God never stops giving. That has become

my first thought before I give.

ALL SAINTS ACADEMY CORNER

ASA – An Extension of Our Parish Community

Like our parish, All Saints Academy is a

diverse community that celebrates the

benchmarks of faith and practice traditionally

found in the legacy of Catholic education. As a

school in the Diocese of Paterson, All Saints Academy’s

AdvancEd Accreditation and STEM Certification provide a

standards-based educational framework, setting a path for

continuous improvement in instruction, 21st century learning

and student performance. The very important presence of

faith education truly makes All Saints Academy an extension

of the mission of our Catholic parish. All parish families are

welcome in our school. Pope Benedict XVI said, “No child

should be denied his or her right to an education in faith,

which in turn nurtures the soul of a nation.” This is the time to

consider All Saints Academy for your child’s faith-based

education – an experience that will foster a lifetime. Contact

our principal, Mrs. Judith Berg, at 973-334-4704, for more

information regarding admission and scholarship opportunities

at All Saints Academy. Visit our web page: www.allsaintspar.

Padre Herb
