Join us for this opportunity to relax and deepen our faith through spiritual reflection and prayer. Bring your daughters, mothers, aunts and girlfriends.

Catholic Relief Services’ Operation Rice Bowl invites us to pray with our families and faith communities, fast in solidarity with those who are hungry, learn about our brothers and sisters

around the world, and give sacrificial contributions to help those in need. Visit orb.crs.org for additional re-sources to use at home.

Confirmation Retreat ReflectionsConfirmation Retreat ReflectionsConfirmation Retreat ReflectionsConfirmation Retreat Reflections I really enjoyed the retreat as a whole. I thought it was nice to get to spend time with kids in my grade I wouldn’t usually hang out with. I think I was able to really bond with them over the course of the weekend. I thought it was nice that every-one there was really positive the whole weekend. I expected to have a few negative kids that would bring everyone else down but luckily I didn’t experience that. Everyone seemed happy to be there and excited to see what we were going to do next. It was nice to get away from the world and not have any technology and just focus on our faith and the people around us. On Sunday it was really nice to read all the nice things my friends had said about me. I feel like we don’t nor-mally take the time to go out of our way and say something nice to someone. This way we were able to do it for other peo-ple and we could receive the nice affirmations ourselves. I had a really fun time with all the people on my retreat and it was a really positive experience for me. I really enjoyed hearing the leaders stories. I thought they were all very courageous and strong to be able to tell such per-sonally and heart wrenching stories. Andrew Whamond’s story kind of stuck with me because I totally agree with all that he had to say. It’s really the little things that can mean a lot more to someone than you would expect. I learned a lot about people in my church that I did not know and I was honored that they wanted to share their stories with all of us. I feel like I’ll always remember those stories and how they made me feel. I was able to feel more comfortable with myself in the

Catholic church and more comfortable with the idea of getting confirmed. Riley Gardner The retreat was a great time to get away from reality for the weekend. Being surrounded by friends and church members was very comfortable. I really liked the retreat center we stayed at. I enjoyed the walks to and from meals because they served as great bonding time with the perfect distance to help gain up an appetite. One of the highlights for me personally was when all the confirmation kids sat in a circle and the group leaders walked around while placing their hands on every student. At this time, it seemed as if everyone was truly at peace with themselves, one another, and God. I also enjoyed the talks that each leader gave. It was amazing and heartwarming to hear what everyone has gone through in their life and

how God truly helped them. Brooke Callery I found the retreat to be a fulfilling and inspirational experience. I enjoyed the various activities that we did as a big group as well as the discussions we had in our small groups. I had Herman as a group leader and I enjoyed his stories and insight. My favorite thing that we did was the laying of the hands because that was something I had never done before and I found that to be relaxing. I think that my peers and I would all agree that it brought us together as a community and gave us the opportunity to get to know each other even better than we already did. I also thought that the affirmations were a good

way to reflect on myself as a person as well as see the great qualities in others. -Melanie Mulrain Going into the retreat I had my doubts as to whether it was going to be a good weekend, especially because I was going to be missing the AFC championship game! Also, as we were the second group to go on the confir-mation retreat, I had heard several different opinions of the retreat. Honestly, it was one of the most powerful and moving weekends of my life. Before the retreat weekend, I couldn't tell you the last time I had went to confession. This was something that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Confession is something I plan to go to quite often now. Also, one of my favorite parts of the weekend was playing football with Father Jim and the other kids on the retreat. I felt as though this was a real bonding experience. I enjoyed all of the different speakers that told us their stories, it showed how everyone can find their faith even when they are so lost in life. This weekend was a way for me to

get closer with my faith, and I really did do that David Beliveau

FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son…” (John 3:16) Of all the wonderful

gifts that God has given to us, the gift of His own Son is truly the greatest. How can we ever thank God for a gift like that? God does not ask us to sacrifice our own precious firstborn, but

He does ask that we be generous in making some sacrifices for Him.
