Ephesians 3:1-13Arnan A. Bayla | Midtown Church of Christ | February 5, 2017

PREACHING

THE

REVEALED

MYSTERY

Ephesians 3:1-13

PREACHING THE REVEALED

MYSTERY IS A PRIVILEGE

Ephesians 3:1-10

PREACHING THE REVEALED MYSTERY GIVES CONFIDENCE

Ephesians 3:11-12

PREACHING THE REVEALED MYSTERY IMPARTS PERSISTENCE

Ephesians 3:13

I.

PREACHING

THE REVEALED

MYSTERY IS A

PRIVILEGE

Ephesians 1:1-10

EXTENDING GRACE (2)

Task of showing God’s favor

God’s grace extends to all people

SPREADING THE GOOD NEWS (7)

Task of helping people understand

God’s sacrifice is for all who believe TELLING ABOUT TREASURES (8)

Task of bringing out to the open

God’s riches available in the church

A P P L I C AT I O N :1. Let us prove ourselves to be faithful in preaching

the secret things of God. The church is commissioned to make disciples of Christ

and to teach them to obey the Lord’s commands. The “secret” should no longer be so. It must be made

known to all the world. We are the ambassadors. “So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ

and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.Now it is required that those who have been given atrust must prove faithful.” 1 Cor 4:1-3 NIV

II.

PREACHING

THE REVEALED

MYSTERY GIVES

CONFIDENCE

Ephesians 3:11-12

CONFIDENT OF GOD’S PLAN (11)

God’s plan is eternal, not temporal

Christ only promises eternal life

CONFIDENT OF CHRIST (12)

God’s plan worked out through Christ

Christ is the only mediator

CONFIDENT TO TRUST IN CHRIST (12)

God’s salvation plan was made known

Christ is the only source of truth

A P P L I C AT I O N :2. Let us prove ourselves confident of our salvation in

Christ Jesus, the one and only Savior. Put confidence in Christ’s work and not on our own work. Remain loyal to the Lord Jesus – as head and as body (church) “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly

rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have donethe will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For injust a very little while, "He who is coming will come and willnot delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if heshrinks back, I will not be pleased with him." But we are not ofthose who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those whobelieve and are saved. Heb 10:35-39 NIV

III.

PREACHING

THE REVEALED

MYSTERY IMPARTS

PERSISTENCE

Ephesians 3:13

DON’T LOSE HEART (13)

Entreat each other to persevere

Patiently do the will of God

FEEL HONORED (13)

Entreat others to glory in sufferings

Willingly suffer for the brethren

BE ENCOURAGED (13)

Entreat others not to grow weary

Courageously preach the truth

A P P L I C AT I O N :3. Let us prove ourselves not to grow weary of doing

good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest. Do not give up especially in times of trouble. Resist the temptation to quit or to “lie low”. “…for there is going to come a day of wrath when God

will be the just Judge of all the world. He will give eachone whatever his deeds deserve. He will give eternal lifeto those who patiently do the will of God, seeking forthe unseen glory and honor and eternal life that heoffers. But he will terribly punish those who fight againstthe truth of God and walk in evil ways. Rom 2:5-9TLB

“God revealed to these prophets that their workwas not for their own benefit, but for yours, asthey spoke about those things which you havenow heard from the messengers who announcedthe Good News by the power of the Holy Spiritsent from heaven. These are things which eventhe angels would like to understand.” 1 Peter 1:12 GNT

In preaching the revealed

mystery…1. We prove ourselves as a church who is faithful in

preaching the secret things of God.2. We prove ourselves as a church who is confident of

our salvation in Christ, the one and only Savior.3. We prove ourselves as a church who would not

grow weary of doing good.
