Location & Accommodation

Advantages of our Summer Camp in Manhattan

• The location: TriBeCa is one of Manhattan’s most desirable

neighborhoods

• Short commute to most New York City attractions

• Everything is located in one building - accommodation,

classes and cafeteria

International House’s open Summer Camps for teenagers are based at St. John’s University’s campuses in three locations: downtown Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island.

Advantages of our Summer Camp in Queens or Staten Island

• Teens stay on a real university campus with acres of green

lawn, dormitories, dining hall and classrooms all inside the

campus walls

• Sports facilities: there are numerous fields so students

have plenty of space to play outside

• All-You-Can-Eat Dining Halls: students choose from a

wide variety of salads, hot meals, made-to-order items and

beverages

International House students have the best of home and

abroad when they arrive in New York: they have the 24-hour

support and supervision of our trained, multilingual staff and

they have many of the world’s most famous attractions at

their feet.

All excursions - afternoon and full-day - are supervised

by our staff of trained Activity Leaders and University of

Cambridge-qualified teachers. The goal is to provide a

learning adventure with the guidance and supervision of

trained and experienced staff.

Our students experience all that New York has to offer

on afternoon and evening excursions to world-famous

destinations in the city.

Additional ExcursionsIn addition to our scheduled excursions, International House

can arrange special group reservations for a variety of

shows, exhibits and activities upon request. These shows

and events charge entry fees which are not included in

the course fees and reservations are normally required

in advance. Whenever possible, International House will

organize group and student discounts.

Some available options include:

• Hard Rock Cafe on Broadway

• Broadway shows such as “Blue Man Group” and “Stomp”

• Circle Line boat tour of Manhattan

• A trip to a baseball stadium to watch the Mets or

the Yankees play

• 6 Flags Amusement Park

...and much more.

It is often said, “The best way to learn a language is to go where it is spoken.” At International House, we know this is true. Therefore we feel it is important for our students to not only study English in the classroom, but to go outside the class to practice and experience English as it is used in real life.

Activity Program English ClassesIn addition to the excursion program, there is an action-

packed schedule of sports, activities and arts and crafts,

with something to suit every interest.

On a typical day, a student will have English classes from 9

am - 12 pm and afterwards they will participate in on-site

activities and/or off-campus excursions led by our Group

and Activity Leaders.
