Made possible through generous support from the Cleveland Foundation’s Community Arts Mastery initiative, the Vocal Arts Academy Summer Camp is a one-week vocal training experience that includes solo and ensemble vocal skills, music theory, sight-singing and elementary keyboard training. STRINGS ATTACHED SUMMER ORCHESTRA CAMP Ages: 6-18 | Cost: $350*

An opportunity for young violin, viola, cello and double bass players to polish their instrumental skills and create their own music. This camp combines string ensemble classes with a language arts class in which campers learn journaling, storytelling and poetry. They then select one of their poems or stories, from which a team of fellow students creates a performance with original words and music. Campers succeed in expressing themselves while perfecting their music and language skills. Culminates in a final public performance.

Work hard, play hard! This two-week performance-based camp incorporates jazz, blues, gospel, R&B and hip-hop. We use jazz as a foundation to help students sharpen their performance, recording and production skills. Campers also have the opportunity to work with 2020 JazzFest artists and perform on the outdoor stage at JazzFest. The Land Before Time Begin your exciting journey into the world of paleontology and dinosaurs! Learn about different types of fossils, and make a T. rex tooth, a raptor claw and a trilobite replica to take home.

Rock, Paper, Scissors Learn about Leonardo da Vinci and his amazing inventions, including catapults, trebuchets and more.

Shipwrecked Imagine finding yourself on a deserted island with only a few supplies. What better way to stimulate your creativity? See how resourceful you can be, using Ben Franklin’s inventions as inspiration.

Think Fast Use the ideas of early inventors like the Wright brothers to launch into the wild blue yonder. Take flight!

Earth and Beyond Explore the farthest reaches of our solar system and create a lunar eclipse in this “mad” planetary tour! Build and take home a 3D solar system puzzle, travel to the end of the rainbow and make a sunset, mix up planetary atmospheres and see what makes stars twinkle using your very own Shimmering Stars!

Astronaut-in-Training Steer a laser beam through a laser maze, find hidden mountains using the principles of radar technology, and discover everyday objects originally designed for use in space. Suit up for space flight and participate in a space mission. Bring the excitement home with a Lightning Launcher that lights up the sky and a cosmic chronometer watch to measure the time here on Earth!

Solar Launch Journey through a soapy galaxy as you investigate the life cycle of stars. Use a bead dipper to create a three-dimensional glow-in-the-dark constellation. Explore Tri-C’s Manufacturing Technology Center, which includes a fully equipped fab lab. Learn about the manufacturing process from start to finish, using 2D and 3D modeling software to design, laser and 3D-print your own creations. Enjoy lunch-and-learns with industry professionals who provide insight into what it’s like to develop and create new products. Keep all products you develop and manufacture. This two-week, grant-funded camp is made possible through the Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs Foundation.

In this two-week camp, you’ll explore Tri-C’s Ideation Station — a fully equipped fab lab with 3D printers, laser engravers, CNC router and much more. Create and design your own projects to take home, using 2D and 3D modeling software to design, laser and print your creations. Projects include T-shirt design, a 3D-printed car and a table and chair.

The Public Safety Summer Academy is a tuition-free, grant-funded program that includes experiences with a wide variety of public safety careers and activities. Campers will learn about careers in police, fire, EMS, C.E.R.T., homeland security, 911 dispatch, environmental health and safety, private security, bailiff, corrections, crime scene investigation, command post (ICS) and court reporting.

Campers must register by June 5 to receive a camp T-shirt. All campers must bring their own lunch/snacks; cafeteria on site.

I am entering into this legally binding agreement for good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which I hereby acknowledge. I am the parent or guardian of the child named above, and hereby request that my child be permitted to participate in Cuyahoga Community College District’s (the “College” or “College’s”) “Summer Camp Program.”All College actions, requirements, directions, and standards shall be deemed to have been intended for the benefit of my child. Although a minor, my child is aware of the risks involved with participating in Tri-C’s Summer camp Program. I assure the College that I have carefully counseled my child on the risk of participating. Further, I warrant and represent that no physical or other reason would restrict or preclude my child’s participation. I authorize the College and its trustees, officers, students, vendors, consultants, and employees (collectively, the “Affiliates”) to obtain such medical care, emergency or otherwise, that it or they may deem necessary for my child. Further, I warrant and represent that I have adequate health insurance or personal funds to provide payment for all costs of such medical care, which shall be my responsibility. I acknowledge and agree that the College may dismiss my child from [Tri-C’s Summer Camp Program], either temporarily or permanently, in the event of behavior that is disruptive, dangerous, uncooperative, or otherwise unacceptable in the sole judgment of the College; and in such event, the College will owe no refund or other compensation whatsoever. I grant irrevocable permission to the College and its Affiliates to use my child’s name, photograph, video, likeness, voice, statements, or biographical material (collectively, “Material”) associated with the Event(s) in any and all manner and media throughout the world, in perpetuity. I irrevocably assign all worldwide copyrights in the Material to the College. I waive any rights of inspection or approval. I agree that the Material may be edited, adapted, expanded, revised, or modified at the sole discretion of the College and its Affiliates. I consent to use of the Materials in connection with publicity, advertising, promotion, publication, and any other purposes. I understand that the College and its Affiliates may use the Materials in any media or format it chooses, whether or not for profit, including without limitation television, radio, print, promotional materials, and Internet. I warrant and represent that this agreement does not in any way conflict with any existing commitment on my (or my child’s) part. I agree that the College is not under any obligation to exercise any of the rights, licenses, and privileges herein granted. I agree to release and discharge the College and its Affiliates from all claims, liabilities, losses, and costs (including without limitation, attorneys’ fees and other costs of defense) that I (or my child) may now or hereafter have against any of them arising out of or relating to participation in the Event(s) or the College’s or any Affiliate’s exercise of rights granted by this agreement, including without limitation claims for compensation, defamation, infringement, and invasion of privacy. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the College and its Affiliates from and against any liabilities, losses, claims, costs (including without limitation attorneys’ fees and other costs of defense) and expenses arising out of or relating to this agreement, except to the extent caused by the gross negligence or deliberately wrongful acts of the College or its Affiliates.
