T att Sebastião Salgado, one of the greatest and most respected photographersliving today, began his career as a professional photographer in Paris in 1973and subsequently worked with Sygma, Gamma, and Magnum Photos. In1994, he and his wife Lélia created Amazonas images, a photographic agency devoted exclusively to Salgado’s work. His photographic projects have beenfeatured in many exhibitions as well as books, including Other Americas (1986), Sahel: l’homme en détresse (1986), Workers (1993), erra (1997), Migrations and Te Children (both 2000), and Africa (2007).

T toLélia Wanick Salgado studied architecture at the École Nationale Supérieure desBeaux-Arts in Paris and has been conceiving photography books and organizing exhibitions since the 1970s. Te main editor and curator of his work, she travelsand continuously collaborates with her husband. Since 1994, Wanick Salgado hasbeen the director of Amazonas images. She has been integrally involved in theconcept, design, and production of all books by Sebastião Salgado.
