▪ Vancouver is Canada’s gateway to Asia, site of the fastest growing economies in the world. Canada’s annual trade with Asia now totals over 80 billion dollars, much of it funneled through British Columbia, and Vancouver is the destination of choice for both tourists and immigrants from Asia. All of this adds up to exciting opportunities for people with the right skills, and Kwantlen can help you prepare with an ASIAN STUDIES degree.

▪ With this interdisciplinary degree, students will choose from a variety of disciplines such as Asian Studies, History, Geography, and Sociology in order to create a program that suits their particular interests and career goals.

▪ Language training is an important part of the Asian Studies Program. At Kwantlen students can choose to study East and South Asian languages such as Punjabi, Mandarin Chinese, or Japanese.

▪ Students in the Asian Studies program are eligible to take part in exchanges with Kwantlen’s partner institutions in China, India, and Japan. The Asian Studies program also offers opportunities for participation in Field Schools in Asia where students can earn credits while experiencing Asian culture first hand.

▪ Students enrolled in other programs are welcome to take courses offered by the Asian Studies program as electives. Many of these courses will be of interest to students in Business, General Studies, and other degree programs.

CAREER POTENTIAL ▪ Students will gain valuable essential skills that

prepare them for careers in public and community service, local and international business, public administration, religious studies, social work, law or policing, or prepare them for admission to graduate studies.
