Reading at the Parish Eucharist
and Evening Prayer The new sign-up sheets for February, March and
April are now at the back of the church. If you would like to read, and feel slightly nervous to
do so, then help can be given. If you would
appreciate some help please contact the Church Office.
Youth Club St Faith’s, and our neighbouring parish of
St Mary’s Alverstoke, run a joint Youth
Group on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the
month, 7.00pm to 8.30pm, either in the
Bulson Hall or the Parish Centre at St Mary’s. Anyone who is in Year 6 up to
Year 11 is welcome to come along.
If you have anybody in your family, or know someone outside your family,
who you think might be interested then why not give it a go? For further
information please contact Alison Jeanneret (023 9235
9521) or Rebecca Parrett (023 9255 6610).
Vic Parrett Janet and family would like to say: A big thank you to
everyone who came to Vic’s Thanksgiving Service and for
making it such a special day. Also, thank you for the
cards, flowers and support we have received during the
last few weeks.
Gift Day - 10th February On Sunday 10th February we will be holding a
Gift Day, to cover the costs of ministry and
mission at St Faith’s last year.
Everyone who is on the Electoral Roll, or who we have contact details for,
will have a letter at the back of the church today. Please do pick your letter
up, read it, and pray about how you could respond!

The Bible Course - our Lent course this year The Bible Course is a brilliant and accessible way
to understand the full Bible story.
We invite you for Lent this year to take something up - the Bible Course!
This is an 8-session course produced by the Bible Society, showing you how
the key events, books and characters all fit together. You’ll get to see the
BIG picture and discover again how the Bible applies to your life.
The course is for everyone - from people who are new to the Bible, to
those who have been reading it for years. We’d love as many people as
possible at St Faith’s to come on the course… So if you’ve never been on
one of our courses before, why not come to the Bible course this spring?!
Since the Bible Course is 8 weeks long, and Lent is shorter, we will be starting the Bible Course in the first week of February. You can come either
on Tuesday afternoons, 1.30-3pm, or Thursday evenings, 7.30-9pm. Dates
are:
Tuesdays: 5th, 12th, 26th Feb; 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th March; 2nd April
Thursdays: 7th, 14th, 28th Feb; 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th March; 4th April
If you’d like to come, please do sign-up on the sheet on the
Welcome Table in the church. Do join us for this exciting course!
The Course booklet costs £5, but if you can’t afford that, please don’t let
this stop you coming on the course - you’re still really welcome to join us.
And if you’d like to find out more about the Bible Course, do have a look on
the Bible Society web site: https://www.biblesociety.org.uk/

Christians in 73 countries face extreme persecution The persecution of Christians around the world has worsened in the past
year: 245 million face violence or oppression, 30 million more than a year
ago.
An analysis of conditions, laws and incidents in 150 countries has found
that Christians face high levels of persecution in 73 countries, up from 58.
New laws in China seeking to control religious expression have led to the
authorities raiding, shutting down or demolishing hundreds of churches.
In India “waves of violence” have been meted out by ultra-nationalists
against non-Hindu minorities, according to a report by Open Doors, a
Dutch charity that supports persecuted Christians. “Rising nationalism is
leading to similar persecution in other countries such as Bhutan, Myanmar
and Nepal where national identity is tied to religion,” the charity said.
North Korea ranks as the worst country in which to be a Christian
followed by Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, Pakistan and Sudan. India is in the
top ten for the first time, Turkey is at 26 and Russia at 41.
Last month Jeremy Hunt, the Foreign Secretary, ordered a review into the
plight of persecuted Christians.
Kaya Burgess Religious Affairs Correspondent of The Times
Please include the plight of persecuted Christians in your prayers.
Parenting Course crèche
help needed We are thinking of running a day time
parenting and course, either on a Wednesday or a Friday morning for 6
weeks before Easter.
We would like to offer a crèche. Are you DBS checked? Do you like small
children? Could you help for any or all of these slots?
Speak to Becca Chamberlain for more information. Email her at:
[email protected] or call on 023 9200 6184.

The sight of one of the two cherry trees blossoming
just outside the Church Office certainly lifts one’s
spirits in the winter months! They were planted by
the late Richard and Jean Hedley who were
members of St Faith’s for many years.
Do go outside and have a look at the blossom while it
is there!
