Steadfast In Life And Leadership Welcometo a new year of "sustaining the line" and telling the 3rd Corps Support Command's Story. Iwould like to take this time to share my personal philosophy on life andleading so you may gain an understanding of who I am and what is important in my life. Clearly, to be given the responsibility and the opportunity to lead Soldiers is at the top of my list; it isan honor and a privilege. First and foremost, I am very much like all of you;I'm a Soldier, a daughter, agranddaughter, asister and a friend. Two words describe how I try to live: "Steadfast Leadership." As a leader, I will do everything within my power to ensure a positive climate and work environmentwhere people come first and missions are always accomplished. "Steadfast" is an acronym meaning Soldiers, Training, Excellence, Attitude, Discipline,Family (and Friends), Accountability, Selfless service and Teamwork. Soldiers: People areour most valuable resource -- Soldiers, families and civilians! I am aSoldier. I must leadby example. "Coach, teach and mentor," must be our watchwords in caring for eachother and our families. Training:Quality training is the ultimate display of genuinely caring! We must train as we fight! Training is also maintaining -- our equipment, our individual readiness, our families. Excellence: Knowand live by high standards, both personallyand professionally. Werepresent the military and the United States 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Seize the initiative, go the extra distance, 4 WWW.3COSCOM.ARMY.MIL and be innovative in order to achieve the highest standard of excellence possible. Attitude: Our attitudes reflect our true character and dedication to making a difference. Be proud of yourself, your unit, yourorganization, your Army, your country. Countyour blessings and look at thecup as half full, not half-empty. Discipline: When we exercise discipline in all aspects of our lives, we realize success. We are able to choose the harder right over the easier wrong. Disciplined soldiers reach and exceed their goals. Discipline = Safety! Family and Friends: Whether single, divorced or married, we all have family. Iam the third offour children. I was born and spent most of my life near Ithaca, New York. My parents are retired, and they are my best friends. It is important to balance quality family time with work. It is rewardingto get involved with the community, school, church and volunteer activities. Family Readiness Groups are really Unit Readiness Groups. Accountability: Accountability encompasses both personal and professional standards. Hold yourself accountable foryour own actions and accountable for the care and keeping of those entrusted under the leadership position you hold. Selfless service: Ourbusiness is about duty, honor, country. None of us joined the military to become famous or be heroes. We joined to selflessly support and defend the Constitution ofthe United States. I believe true leadership is reflected in ourability to serve others first. Teamwork: Together Everyone Achieves More. I believe in the power of numbers, and two are always better than one. Communication and teamwork must extendhorizontally across ourorganizations, Soldiers helping Soldiers, families helping families, units helping units and military supporting our civilians and community activities. My goal is to live the "Steadfast Leadership" principles I addressed above. In doing so, I hope my actions, not my words, will motivate others to adopt these principles and values for their own lives. Bottom line, Ienjoy life, I love to laugh and I love to work hard! I look forward to "sustainingthe line" with each and every one of you, learning from each other and developinga solid, caring enthusiasticand winning TEAM! Rebecca S. Steadfast In Life And LeadershipWelcome to a new year of

"sustaining the line" and telling the3rd Corps Support Command's Story.

I would like to take this time toshare my personal philosophy onlife and leading so you may gain anunderstanding of who I am and whatis important in my life. Clearly, tobe given the responsibility and theopportunity to lead Soldiers is at thetop of my list; it is an honor and aprivilege.

First and foremost, I am verymuch like all of you; I'm a Soldier, adaughter, a granddaughter, a sister anda friend.
