Steadfast In Life And LeadershipWelcome to a new year of

"sustaining the line" and telling the3rd Corps Support Command's Story.

I would like to take this time toshare my personal philosophy onlife and leading so you may gain anunderstanding of who I am and whatis important in my life. Clearly, tobe given the responsibility and theopportunity to lead Soldiers is at thetop of my list; it is an honor and aprivilege.

First and foremost, I am verymuch like all of you; I'm a Soldier, adaughter, a granddaughter, a sister anda friend.

Two words describe how I try tolive: "Steadfast Leadership." As aleader, I will do everything within mypower to ensure a positive climate andwork environment where people comefirst and missions are alwaysaccomplished.

"Steadfast" is an acronym meaningSoldiers, Training, Excellence,Attitude, Discipline, Family (andFriends), Accountability, Selflessservice and Teamwork.

Soldiers: People are our mostvaluable resource -- Soldiers, familiesand civilians! I am a Soldier. I mustlead by example. "Coach, teach andmentor," must be our watchwords incaring for each other and our families.

Training: Quality training is theultimate display of genuinely caring! We must train as we fight! Training isalso maintaining -- our equipment, ourindividual readiness, our families.

Excellence: Know and live byhigh standards, both personally andprofessionally. We represent themilitary and the United States 24hours a day, 7 days a week. Seizethe initiative, go the extra distance,

and be innovative in order to achievethe highest standard of excellencepossible.

Attitude: Our attitudes reflectour true character and dedication tomaking a difference. Be proud ofyourself, your unit, your organization, your Army, your country. Count yourblessings and look at the cup as halffull, not half-empty.

Discipline: When we exercisediscipline in all aspects of our lives,we realize success. We are able tochoose the harder right over the easierwrong. Disciplined soldiers reachand exceed their goals. Discipline =

Safety!Family and Friends: Whether

single, divorced or married, we allhave family. I am the third of fourchildren. I was born and spent mostof my life near Ithaca, New York.My parents are retired, and they aremy best friends. It is important tobalance quality family time with work.It is rewarding to get involved with

the community, school, church andvolunteer activities. Family ReadinessGroups are really Unit ReadinessGroups.

Accountability: Accountabilityencompasses both personal andprofessional standards. Hold yourselfaccountable for your own actions andaccountable for the care and keepingof those entrusted under the leadershipposition you hold.

Selfless service: Our business isabout duty, honor, country. None of usjoined the military to become famousor be heroes. We joined to selflesslysupport and defend the Constitutionofthe United States. I believe trueleadership is reflected in our ability toserve others first.

Teamwork: Together EveryoneAchieves More. I believe in the powerof numbers, and two are alwaysbetter than one. Communication andteamwork must extend horizontallyacross our organizations, Soldiershelping Soldiers, families helpingfamilies, units helping units andmilitary supporting our civilians andcommunity activities.

My goal is to live the "SteadfastLeadership" principles I addressedabove. In doing so, I hope my actions, not my words, will motivate others toadopt these principles and values fortheir own lives.

Bottom line, I enjoy life, I love tolaugh and I love to work hard! I lookforward to "sustaining the line" witheach and every one of you, learningfrom each other and developing asolid, caring enthusiastic and winningTEAM!
