Longing for peace, our world is troubled. Longing for hope, many despair.Your word alone has pow'r to save us. Make us your living voice. Refrain

Longing for food, many are hungry. Longing for water, many still thirst.Make us your bread, broken for others, Shared until all are fed. Refrain

Longing for shelter, people are homeless. Longing for warmth, many are cold. Make us your building, sheltering others, Walls made of living stone. Refrain

Many the gifts, many the people, Many the hearts that yearn to belong. Let us be servants to one another, Making your kingdom come. Refrain

Second Reading: St Paul to the Philippians 4:6-9Cynthia Constantin

A reading from the first letter of St Paul to Philippians

Do not worry about anything, but in everything let your requests be made known to God by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

Response: Glory to You O Lord

Gospel: John 15:7-17

Jesus said: If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you may ask whatever you wish and it will be given to you. It is to the glory of my Father that you should bear much fruit and so be my disciples.I have loved you just as the Father has loved me: abide in my love.If you keep my commandments you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you.

No one can have greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends, if you do what I command you. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know the master’s business. I call you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have learnt from my Father. You did not choose me, no, I chose you; and I commissioned you to go out and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so the Father will give you anything you ask him in my name. This is my commandment: Love one another.

This is the Gospel of the Lord

Response: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanksgiving Hymn:

On Eagles Wings

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,Who abide in His shadow for life, say to the Lord, "My refuge,my rock in whom I trust."

REFRAIN:

And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,Bear you on the breath of dawn,Make you to shine like the sun,and hold you in the palm of His hand.

The snare of the fowler will never capture you,and famine will bring you no fear;Under His wings your refuge,His faithfulness, your shield. Refrain

You need not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, though thousands fall about you, near you it shall not come. Refrain

For to His angels He's given a command,to guard you in all of your ways, upon their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. Refrain

Final Hymn

The Circle of Mercy

In Mercy, we touch the hearts of those who are in mis’ry.In Mercy, we’re touched by them and feel their strength and courage. In Mercy, we heal the pain of those who are in sorrow. In Mercy, we’re healed by them and see the face of hope.

REFRAIN:

For the circle of Mercy is timeless:It is Spirit of Life itself,Which grounds us in faith, and lifts us in hope, and holds us in God’s loving care, and holds us in God’s loving care.

In Mercy, we welcome those the world has left rejected. In Mercy, we’re drawn within the loving heart of God.In Mercy, we forgive the incompleteness in another. In Mercy, our sins are healed and we are whole again. Refrain

In Mercy, the Spirit Faith will ground us in God’s Presence. In Mercy, the Spirit Hope will lift us out of doubt. In Mercy, the Love of God will be our joy in living. In Mercy, we join with one another with our journey. Refrain
