31ST SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME

In essence, Jesus asks only two things of us: to love God with all our hearts and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Sounds simple, but is it? Maybe the challenge in this statement is our ability to love ourselves as well as we love our neighbor. It seems like most often we find it easier to love and accept another person as they are, but we struggle to love and accept ourselves as we are. It’s so easy to criticize ourselves. Take a moment and list how you criticize yourself… is it about your looks, the choices you make, your abilities, intelligence, or is it something else?

Today examine the many ways you strive to love your neighbor, then examine the ways you love yourself. Are you as loving and understanding with yourself as you are with your neighbor? If not, I invite you to be loving, accepting, and gentle with yourself today. You may find out that you will have a much better day when you maintain a loving stance toward yourself. Try it! You may find out not only that you like it, you also may realize that loving yourself makes life more grace-filled and peaceful. What a wonderful gift to give yourself as well as to others!

En esencia, Jesús sólo nos pide dos cosas: amar a Dios con todo nuestro corazón y amar a nuestro prójimo como a nosotros mismos. Suena simple, pero ¿lo es? Tal vez el desafío en esta declaración es nuestra capacidad de amarnos a nosotros mismos tan bien como amamos a nuestro prójimo. Parece que la mayoría de las veces nos resulta más fácil amar y aceptar a otra persona tal como es, pero luchamos por amarnos y aceptarnos tal como somos. Es muy fácil criticarnos a nosotros mismos. Second Reading │ A reading from the Letter to the Hebrews (7:23-28)

Brothers and sisters: The levitical priests were many because they were prevented by death from remaining in office, but Jesus, because he remains forever, has a priesthood that does not pass away. Therefore, he is always able to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to make intercession for them. It was fitting that we should have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, higher than the heavens. He has no need, as did the high priests, to offer sacrifice day after day, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did that once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints men subject to weakness to be high priests, but the word of the oath, which was taken after the law, appoints a son, who has been made perfect forever. The word of the Lord.

One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him, "Which is the first of all the commandments?" Jesus replied, "The first is this: Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. FAITH FORMATION AT ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI As we begin to transition from the limitations of covid as well as changes to the parish staff, we are once again looking at our faith formation offerings for the youth of our parish. First Communion and Confirmation classes are currently underway and we offer youth nights each Wednesday for grades 7-12. We are looking at how we can better serve our elementary students and those youth who cannot attend youth events on Wednesday evenings. FORMACIÓN EN LA FE EN SAN FRANCISCO DE ASÍS A medida que comenzamos a hacer la transición de las limitaciones de la pandemia, así como los cambios en el personal de la parroquia, una vez más estamos mirando nuestras ofertas de formación en la fe para los jóvenes de nuestra parroquia. Las clases de Primera Comunión y Confirmación continuan y ofrecemos noches para jóvenes (en grados 7-12) todos los miércoles. Estamos viendo cómo podemos servir mejor a nuestros estudiantes de primaria y aquellos jóvenes que no pueden asistir a los eventos juveniles los miércoles por la noche. Quizás le gustaría ofrecer un evento único para niños o jóvenes de nuestra parroquia. ESTUDIO BÍBLICO : DESCUBRIENDO NUESTRAS RAÍCES Los martes 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Planta baja de la oficina al lado de San Henry Se puede incorporar al grupo cualquier martes, solo hay 2 más! Están invitados a participar en una serie del Antiguo Testamento hasta el Nuevo. Dios nos habla en todo momento, y a traves de su palabra nos acercamos cada vez mas a el.

TRUCO O TRATO (TRICK OR TREAT) domingo, 31 de octubre 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Estacionamiento de St. Henry Te invitamos a traer a tus hijos este fin de semana o si quieres participar, decorando tu cajuela de tu auto con algo divertido, (por favor no decorar algo espantoso) y repartir dulces (debes proporcionar tus propios dulces). Tu auto debe estar listo antes de las 4PM.

REUNIÓN DE PADRES PARA PREPARACIÓN SACRAMENTAL (PRIMERA COMUNIÓN) domingo, 7 de noviembre 12:30 PM (después de misa de 11:30 AM) Iglesia San Henry Todos los padres de niños que se preparan

para su primera comunión deben asistir a la próxima reunión de padres. Únase a nosotros mientras caminamos junto a los niños hasta que reciban el precioso regalo en el cuerpo y la sangre de nuestro Señor.

CASA DE COMPASION : ADOPTANDO FAMILIAS PARA LA NAVIDAD Una vez más, estamos ofreciendo el programa de navidad para ayudar a brindar una navidad memorable para las familias de nuestra comunidad.
