To the Festival on 1st committee members, those who cooked, set-up tents, organized tables, worked kids games, sold tickets, donated raffle items,
cleaned tables, entertained, bought food, celebrated the
day, invited friends, attended for the first time,
delivered picnic tables, washed dishes,
and everything in between: thank you! Thanks for all who donated of time, talent and treasure in so many ways to make St. Francis of Assisi's
Festival on 1st such a community-building success!

the Oktemberfest parade on Sept. 28. The parade

CLASES DE CATOLICISMO
Quiere aprender más de la fe catolica? Al
partir de septiembre habrá clases para
discutir, hablar y pensar mas en la fe. Hable
con Karen en la oficina (752-6278). Las clases se presentan en
inglés, pero todos están bienvenidos. La primera clase es lunes,
el 16 de septiembre a las 5 pm en el centro parroquial en St.
Henry.
VIGILIA PRO VIDA
Esta es su oportunidad de tomar una posición
y mostrar su apoyo a los no nacidos rezando
durante una hora para el fin del aborto el
domingo 6 de octubre. Cada participante se
parará a lo largo del lado oeste de Center Street y rezará en
silencio por los no nacidos y los heridos por el aborto. Los
carteles estarán disponibles con varios mensajes pro-vida para
que los conductores los vean. Esto no es una protesta: son
personas fieles orando en silencio por las personas en
situaciones de crisis y por nuestra nación. La inscripción es en la
Iglesia St. Henry, 211 West Olive Street y Redeemer Lutheran
Church, 1600 South Center Street de 1:00 a 2:00 pm. La vigilia de
oración real es de 2:00 pm a 3:00 pm.
CORO DE NIÑOS
Tenemos un coro de niños que cantan una vez al
mes. Los estudiantes en 3er grado o mayor estan
invitados a cantar con nosotros. Practicamos los

A DAY IN THE SUN
Last Sunday we had a second
opportunity to further
experience what St. Francis of
Assisi Parish is (the first being
the Unification Mass in July).
The Festival on First has been
an annual event at St. Mary
for many years, and this was the first time that our NEW parish
celebrated! It was a wonderful day, with plenty of sunshine and
warm weather, great and abundant food, entertainment, games and
being community. Were you there?
Sometimes we don’t really want to go to the annual family reunion
because it’s too hot, too far, too crowded, or we would just rather
not! But then we go and we have a great time, meet old friends and
some new ones, and look forward to the next gathering!
The day coincided with Mexico’s independence day, which dates
back to 1810. You may have heard “Viva” shouted from the stage.
“Viva USA! Viva America! Viva Mexico!” “Viva” is a word that means
“long live…” and is used to recognize or praise. On the Feast of Our
Lady of Guadalupe, 3 vivas are shouted: Viva our Lady of Guadalupe!
Viva Christ the King! Viva the Catholic Church!”
Thank you to all who worked to organize and execute the festival.
Thank you to all who came and enjoyed a part of your day with the
parish community. And thank you for being willing to grow together
and work at getting better at it! Viva Saint Francis of Assisi!
UN DÍA DE SOL
El domingo pasado tuvimos una segunda oportunidad para seguir
experimentando lo que es la Parroquia San Francisco de Asís (la
primera fue la Misa de Unificación en julio). El Festival Parroquial ha
sido un evento anual en Santa María durante muchos años, y esta fue
la primera vez que la celebró nuestra NUEVA parroquia! Fue un día
maravilloso, con mucho sol y calor, excelente y abundante comida,
entretenimiento, juegos y convivencia. ¿Estuviste ahí?
A veces no queremos ir a una reunión familiar anual porque hace
demasiado calor, queda demasiado lejos, hay demasiada gente, ¡o
simplemente no queremos ir! Pero al final vamos y nos lo pasamos
muy bien, nos encontramos con viejos amigos y algunos nuevos, y
esperamos con ansias la próxima reunión!
El día coincidió con el día de la independencia de México, que se
celebra desde 1810. Es posible que hayas oído "Viva" desde el
escenario. "Viva USA! ¡Viva América! Viva México!" " Viva" es una
palabra que significa "que tenga larga vida..." y se utiliza para
reconocer o alabar. En la fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, se
gritan 3 vivas: Viva Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe! ¡Viva Cristo Rey!
¡Viva la Iglesia Católica!"
Gracias a todos los que trabajaron para organizar y ejecutar el festival.
Gracias a todos los que vinieron y disfrutaron de una parte de su día
con la comunidad parroquial. ¡Y gracias por estar dispuestos a crecer
juntos y trabajar para mejorar en ello! ¡Viva San Francisco de Asís!
