First of all, some of the religious leaders tried to trick Jesus into going against the law of Moses by not having the woman stoned or going against the Roman law that did not allow the Jewish people to impose the death sentence. Again, Jesus seemed trapped, but drew in the sand with His fin- ger until He presented His an- swer. In an effort to demonstrate the forgiveness God had for His people, Jesus challenged the Pharisees to throw a stone if they were without sin. Of course, none could throw a stone and slowly the crowed drifted away. When only the woman remained, Jesus showed mercy toward her and told her to resist further sin.

WITH THE FLU hitting our area, we will no longer shake hands at the Sign of Peace, simply

nod your head to your neighbor at the Sign of Peace. Also, we will resume serving the Blood of

Christ at the Easter Vigil, April 20.

Lenten Program “Footprints of God”

from Formed.org will be offered Saturdays 10 am—noon in the St. Stephen Parish Hall. It includes a film & short discussion. It was filmed in actual locations where the Gospel story took place. The narrator ties New and Old Testaments readings together in a most entertaining way. Light brunch and drinks are provided. Attend as many/few as you like. Participants are welcome (not required) to “pre-watch” the programs at

home. Last Topic: April 13 – Apostolic Fathers. Israel travelers are encouraged to attend and share their perspectives. Please join fellow pa-rishioners in this meaningful way to celebrate Lent!

Rosary for the Sick We will be praying a Rosary, half hour be-fore every Saturday Mass during the season of Lent for the sick members of our parish family.

RICE BOWL—Encounter Ona—

We encounter Ona in Gaza, where, despite lack of economic opportunity, people pursue their dreams by building

businesses to better their lives. How do your daily choic-es impact others throughout the world? How can your choices support the dignity of workers? Visit crsrice-bowl.org for more. (Rice Bowls due April 13/14.)

NOTE: Fr. Greg will be available for Confessions on

Wednesdays during Lent at 5:00 pm unless there is a Penance Service at another Parish in our Deanery.

Pastor’s Corner

I highly recommend the following movie and book to you. A new movie is being released called: Unplanned. It is about Abby John-son who supported abortion and was a rising star in the Planned Parenthood industry. She had a con-version experience and this tells her story. It is “gritty” due to the abortion scene. However, it is a great state-ment about the horror of abortion and its industry. It is playing in Murray, Paducah and Clarksville. Try to see it as soon as you can. I am not sure how long the local theaters will run the movie. You can hear and see Abby Johnson’s story of conversion as well as information about the movie and her talks about the truth of Planned Parenthood on YouTube. Simply type in her name in “search.” A new book is now available called The 21: A Journey to the Land of the Coptic Martyrs. This book looks at the lives and faith of the Coptic men who were killed on a beach in Lybia by ISIS members. The author, Martin Mosebach, is a highly ac-claimed German author. He was struck by the faith of these men at the time of their death. He traveled to Egypt to meet their families, priests and bishop. As always, the Martyrs inspire and instruct us in how we are to live our faith. The book is also available in German. If you cannot order the book, please contact the office.

Good Friday Holy Land Collection

Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The Pontifical Good Friday Collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines. The wars, unrest and insta-bility have been especially hard on Chris-tians. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday Collection provides humaniti-arian aid to refugees. When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidari-ty with the Church in the Holy Land. Please Be Generous! For More information about Christians in the Holy Land, visit
