FROM OUR MUSIC DIRECTOR Sound System Update
Work on the sound system has begun and should
be completed by early September.
Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, and
His praise in the congregation of the godly ones. (Psalm
149:1)
The Choir will begin singing for Sunday Masses on Sep-
tember 13th at 11:00am. Choir Rehearsal will resume on
Thursday, September 10th at 7pm in the choir loft. Not
only do we look forward to present members returning, but
we are also open to new members joining! Both adults and
youth, Grade 6 or above, are welcomed to join. Youth are
not required to attend the Thursday evening rehearsal, but
should arrive at 10:15 on Sunday mornings for rehearsal.
We will also form a Children’s Choir, Grade 2 and up, for
Christmas again this year. Watch the bulletin and The
Link newsletter for details later in the year.
The Handbell Choir is in the process of re-forming. We’ve
had an informal meeting to discuss our options, and volun-
teers have begun organizing music files. Any former ring-
ers are invited back and we will be opening it up to both
children and adults. More details coming soon.
Music ministry is open to anyone who can match pitch
(“carry a tune”) or play an instrument. For those who
would like to sing, you do not have to be a professionally
trained singer or even need to know how to read mu-
sic. On-the-job training is provided!
Please contact our Music Director, Michael Collins, by
email at [email protected] or in the parish of-
fice at 863-3938, ext. 355 if interested in becoming a part
of the music ministry.

the correct number were mailed on August 22nd. This mail-
ing will include a line on the outside of the envelope packet
regarding the revision. Please be sure to use the envelopes

HAMILTON CATHOLIC PASTORAL REGION St. Joseph’s St. Julie Billiart St. Peter in Chains
______________________________________
The Hamilton Catholic Pastoral Region Committee is look-
ing forward to upcoming listening sessions in all three re-
gional parishes. We will be gathering information from
parishioners in areas including specific ministries in each
parish, areas that you feel help to foster a vibrant parish,
areas that you feel need improvement, and ways we can
collaborate as a Pastoral Region to enhance the vibrancy of
our parish communities?
Listening sessions will be as follows:
Sunday, September 13, 12:30 at St. Peter in the cafete-
ria
Sunday, September 27 at St. Joe at 1:00 in the cafeteria
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
In today’s Gospel, we hear that Je-
sus “He put his finger into the
man’s ears and, spitting, touched his
tongue; the he looked up to heaven
and groaned, and said to him,
“Ephphatha!”-that is, “Be opened!”-and immediately the
man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was re-
moved, and he spoke plainly.” Are our ears open and do
we speak clearly of God’s presence.
With your donations to St. Vincent de Paul, you are
speaking clearly of God’s presence by helping our
neighbors who are poor and suffering. In July, your
donations helped 30+ families with rent and utility assis-
tance, emergency food and help securing clothing, furni-
ture and beds. Thank you!
Our St. Vincent de Paul group has been receiving a high
volume of requests for emergency food from our local
neighbors. We have depleted most of our food closet inven-
tory. In conjunction with Pope Francis’ visit and the “Food
for All” Initiative, we as a parish are having a food drive
through our St. Vincent de Paul Society.
We will have paper shopping bags available after the Sep-
tember 12th and 13th Masses as well as the September
19thand 20th Masses. The items we are most in need of will
be listed on the bags. If you are able to contribute, please
return the grocery bags at the weekend Masses of Septem-
ber 26th and 27th and the weekend Masses of October 3rd and
4th.
Thank you all for your generous support of our St. Peter’s
St. Vincent de Paul’s efforts to bring God’s love to the least
of our brothers.
Sacramental Prep
1st Reconciliation/1st Communion
Celebrated on the first Sunday in May.

gious education may also participate. Participation in 1st
Reconciliation precedes 1st Communion. There are two
parent meetings: one in September and one in January.
1st Parent Meeting
Sunday, September 20th, 9:45AM to 10:45AM @ Fen-
mont.
Confirmation
Celebrated every other year. Our next confirmation will be
in 2017. Students enrolled in the sixth or seventh grade
dayschool or PREP program prepare for 2 years with reli-
gious instruction and annual retreats.
Initial Confirmation Meeting for parents and students

ciated, more than you will know.
Love,
