TRANSCRIPT
Reflection: Dear Parents,
Tomorrow there will be a working bee at the school
commencing at 8:30am to tidy up the vegetable
garden area at the back of the school. Please bring
along suitable gardening tools including a
chainsaw if you have one. If you have not done
your turn on the garden roster this would be a good
working bee to attend to redeem yourself.
All welcome to attend. (We will need to keep an
eye on the weather!!)
Next week we will commence our two week
Swimming Program, weather permitting. Students
will need to bring their bathers (sunsmart with
upper body covered), thongs and towel. We will
change at school at 12:30 ready to commence
lessons at 12:45 – 2:00pm. Students will then
change back into school clothes, have their lunch
and a short play break ready for the last lesson of
the day. The school will provide the necessary
sunscreen.
Please ensure that you have paid your pool
membership up front or bring $4 for each day your
child swims. Please ensure you have returned the
pink parent consent form also.
On Tuesday, the whole school will be involved in
a Transition Day. Current Year 6 students to
Edenhope College and kinder kids into
Foundation. It is hoped that the new teachers will
be present in order to develop relationships with
their new cohort of students.
The WT Junior Planning Day has been postponed
until Monday, 11th December.
As Edenhope College have a pupil free day
tomorrow, only the Patyah, Powers Creek,
Chetwynd and Langkoop buses will be running. I
apologise for any inconvenience to other bus
travelling families.
Enjoy the weekend. Ang

Sunday Mass Times
First Sunday of Advent
Edenhope 11:00am Mass
Wake Up! Jesus Is Here Right Now Do you ever feel alone when you need help with
a problem? Pay attention to Jesus’ words: “Be
alert! Watch!” Jesus wants you to know that
God’s help is staring you right in the face. His
mission for you is right in front of you.
During Advent we join with Christians all
around the world to remember that God sent
Jesus once and will send him again at the world’s
end. Why? Because we need him. We need his
help because life is just too hard sometimes. We
need his vision because we sometimes miss the
work he wants us to do in this world.
Unfortunately, life gets so busy that we often
miss the many ways Christ tries to comfort us or
send us to others. Advent is a great time to slow
down and be watchful. When you hurt, be alert;
Christ is sending people to help you. Pray for
help to see them and the humility to accept their
help. When others hurt, Christ has important
work for you to do in healing this broken world.
Pray for help to see those people whose lives you
can change.
Let Advent remind you that Jesus really comes
into the world every day, but we miss that unless
we watch for Christ, accept Christ’s love, and
help others in Christ’s name.
Working Bee There will be a gardening working bee after
Mass this Sunday. Please bring along suitable
gardening tools to assist if you are able.
Year of Youth The Australian Bishops have identified the
liturgical year of 2018, beginning this Sunday,
the first Sunday of Advent as a national Year of
Youth. The theme of the Year of Youth is Open
New Horizons for Spreading Joy.
Christmas Gifts If you would like to give a little extra to those
who need it most at Christmas time, Caritas
Australia offers Global Gift Cards. Donations go

In the 2/3
Classroom Religion
We have been discussing what we would need to
prepare if we were able to bring a new pet home.
We have also had a visitor – Mrs Coxon talking
about the preparations she is making for a new
baby next year. She was also showing some of
the items she might be taking with her when she
goes to the hospital to have the baby. This will
then link into what Mary & Joseph had to prepare
in advance for the arrival of Jesus.
Literacy
We have been continuing to work on Narratives.
Our focus has been on writing plans and using
these to tell our story to another person before
starting to write. We have been developing our
skills to use descriptive vocab to make our stories
more interesting.
We have been looking at ways we can make sure
we understand text we have read. We can re-read
the sentence or passage, we can ask someone or
we can use a dictionary or glossary to help us
with unfamiliar words.
Maths
We are continuing to work on telling the time,
using digital and analogue clocks. Grade 2s are
expected to read times to the quarter past and
quarter to while the Grade 3s are expected to read
all analogue and digital times.
