From the Pastor’s Laptop

Father Mark Wagner 2016 is the Jubilee

Year of Mercy and it also happens to be a year when we will hear readings almost every Sunday from the Gospel of Luke (Year C). This is providential because Luke emphasizes in his Gospel the merciful things that Jesus did for the poor and lowly. In today’s Gospel, we hear the introductory words found at the very beginning of the Gospel of Luke (Luke 1:1-4). The readings skip to Chapter 4, which is an introduction to the public ministry of Jesus (Luke 4:14-21). Jesus is being introduced as the one who was sent to bring Good News to the poor, liberty to captives and sight to the blind. It tells us that Jesus also introduced himself as the one who came “to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”

Today’s Gospel is a composite reading which gives us an opportunity to really start the Year of Mercy all over

Parish Stewardship — a way of life

Sally Frampton

Sally Frampton lives a life of mercy, which is fitting for this “Year of Mercy.” How does one live a “life of mercy?” For Sally, this means that she is always open for the mercy of God’s work, and what that can mean for her fellow Catholics.

Active for many years at St. Stanislaus Church, Sally relocated to St. Joseph’s nearly 15 years ago and she quickly answered the call for prayer and action in our parish. Known for her engaging laughter and smile, she is also esteemed in her real estate business for her ethics.

With the love and support of her husband, Keith, Sally models how to balance her professional, spiritual and service works with her vocation of wife, m o t h e r a n d g r a n d m o t h e r . A collaborative leader, she chaired our Many Hands, Many Hearts Gala in both 2014 and 2015. Her genuine delight in honoring our veterans this past November was simply contagious.

She was thrilled to discover that the Gala’s proceeds helped to raise nearly $90,000 towards the cost of the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry expansion. Her other works of mercy in our parish have included youth service, respect life ministry, RCIA and the parish festival. As Sally would say, “Mercy Works!”
